BCBFBT: We will be turning off POTS in 2025 come what may.

Also BCBFBT: We hope to have fast broadband in most homes before 2027.
No promises, mind.

Thanks, BCBFBT. Bless you all.

Of course, these plans dont include Arlow. I suppose its just not cost
effective in a town of only <checks> 93,300 people. :|||\\

Somebody needs to update their AP article. I dont think it reflects
current perceptions of the company at all effectively.

Worst telco ever.

And that is damning them with... powerful damnation? I mean "worst
telco" is a bit like "most murderous serial killer". An interesting
statistic, certainly. But any sort of recommendation? I dont think so.

A town that, thirty years ago, awarded an important cabling contract to
a rival telco.

Not that Im suggesting BCBFBT has a board member with a very long memory

In some ways Id be surprised if there was anyone there today who was
there thirty years ago. But maybe a board member. Or a corporate
memory.

Our social and economic models are *so* flawed. But they seemd to be
working for a while, so everyone treats them as unassailable. :|

Yes, you need to create and then fully exploit a monopoly. Because its
great to position yourself so that the only way to compete is to create
a disruptive technology that utterly destroys you.

Look on the bright side: by the time the revolution consigns you to the
dustbin of history, everyone will hate you so much that theyll think you
belong there. :D

Yes the .usian ones are terrible. That was my point. *All* telcos are
terrible, for reasons whose study would no doubt make an excellent PhD
in business psychosociology.

But BT are the worst. Gifted a monopoly, gifted free infrastructure,
IPO guaranteed by a sympathetic govt, and they *still* act like
psychopathic shithead who just want to rob everyone blind while offering
the minimum level of service that wont get them formally investigated.

I personally consider this behaviour "disappointing".

(Not "disappointing" is my entry in Understatement of the Year 2023.

Im sure it means in some sort of philosophical sense. Like, "what if we

I suspect so. An industry with tall barriers to entry (such as the need
to cable up an entire country) might lead to complacency.

Lets hope that a disruptive technology - such as wide area wireless
comms - doesnt come along, enq?

That would show them what their PRS hole was for!

Always wonder about those people who obsessively seek more wealth at the
expense of everyone and everything around them. Often including
themseves.

Youre going to die with money left in the bank. Therefore by definition
you already have more than you can spend. Therefore also by definition
the marginal utility of even more, is zero.

So why chase it at all - let alone at the cost of your soul?

fulfilled.
