PARENTS, 54 UNIQUE BENEFITS OF HOMESCHOOLING
http://blog.360.yahoo.com/blog-tmH.Bn0mdKrx7OrIiIb5404qYbbQ3GA-?cq=1&p=360
By Joel Turtel April 22, 2008

Mr. Turtel has written two books, published over fifty articles, and
has been interviewed in both print and broadcast media on the subject.
His latest book, Public Schools, Public Menace has garnered national
media attention – recently, for example, Dr. Laura Schlessinger
featured the book on her nationally syndicated radio show.

I used to think focusing on Dr. Laura was a waste of time for
feminists. After a week of listening to her mad and prurient
diatribes, I think we should take a leaf from gay activism and get
busy. When Rush Limbaugh burst onto the national political scene,
Fairness & Accuracy in Reporting got right on his case, even
publishing a clever paperback, The Way Things Aren't, dismantling his
fake statistics and fractured anecdotes. Maybe it's time for a similar
exposé of Dr. Laura, who says women who have abortions are murderers
and that mothers always can--and always should--choose not to work,
who falsely describes emergency contraception as "dumping out a
pregnancy" and causing "disease," and who urges her callers not to
help women leave bad marriages because it's all their own fault (see
Noy Thrupkaew's article in the May Sojourner for a good
introduction).

Dr. Laura: I was campaigning? Really?
http://www.bloghouston.net/item/2772
The Fort Worth Star Telegram's "The Insider" has this fun tidbit
related to the State Senate District 7 race:

Houston radio host Dan Patrick recently got a little help from Dr.
Laura in his bid for Texas Senate.
Dr. Laura Schlessinger
When Dr. Laura Schlessinger was in Houston for a book-signing, she
participated in a fundraising luncheon that raised more than $10,000
for Patrick's bid for the District 7 Senate seat, said Court Koenning,
Patrick's campaign chairman.

"Everybody loves Dan," Koenning said. "It's time for change."

Dr. Laura, however, apparently didn't know the political clock was
ticking. Her staff denied that any fundraising went on at all.

"Though Dr. Laura has known Mr. Patrick for a number of years, the
visit to Houston was to promote her new book and to visit with our
affiliate, KSEV," said Jake Russell, a staffer who responded via e-
mail on behalf of the Dr. Laura show. "I hope this clarifies your
inquiry regarding her fundraising efforts as there were none."

Oh, come on now. Schlessinger wanted to use Patrick and KSEV to
promote herself. Patrick wanted to use Schlessinger as a campaign
draw. Schlessinger would have to be a pretty dim bulb not to
understand that the two would be linked.

Fox News is owned by News Corporation, which is owned by Rupert
Murdoch.

News Corporation has eight main media branches. They are Filmed
Entertainment, Television, Cable, Direct Broadcast Satellite
Television, including DirecTV, Magazines and Inserts, Newspapers,
Books, and Other Assets. Many books, movies and magazines connected to
News Corporation are advertised and promoted on Fox News, by Fox
anchors and guests.

Below you will find a current, updated list of News Corporation assets
promoted on Fox News. Unless otherwise noted, the connection to News
Corp. was not mentioned during the promo. This is important because
Fox News has become a 24Houston-hour cable advertising station for its
parent company, News Corporation. Whenever you hear someone on Fox
complain that another network doesn't claim their parent company's
connection to a book author who's appearing on that network, just
remember the list below. Check back often. It will grow quickly.

Rush Limbaugh, Arbitron Ratings System, Wall Street Journal

ARE RUSH FANS LYING?

WSJ Ratings Piece Ponders Overstated Rush Audience
With the slanted coverage they've long enjoyed, no wonder liberals are
up in arms over the Wall Street Journal's potential loss of editorial
independence under Rupert Murdoch.

Yes, in journalism- speak, "independence" means a newsroom's freedom
to be eternally liberal. And that's the mindset that most certainly
clouded what should have been an uncontroversial piece about a new,
high- tech radio ratings system that was profiled in today's paper.
