Over 20 years ago, I used to post on this forum and was seen as a monster. The reason was my interaction with Louise. Louise wanted to be friends; but I wanted more than that, and I was very insistent about being more than that. This destroyed the friendship and also got me labeled a stalker, which was one of the worst things that one could be labeled at that time. I have since then dropped that insistence, and the result is that Louise and I are good friends.

There was a more recent episode which I call the fat wars. I was saying that obesity is undesirable; some people here jumped on me and called me heartless and a sham. I see a number of issues here. One is that it is undesirable to attack demographics. The other is that it is more undesirable to consume resources to the point that it is not even good for the person doing it. The latter is a moral case against overconsumption of resources. And while it is not limited to fat people, obesity is only the most visible sign of this bigger problem – which is a moral problem, and which, besides obese people, includes many people in good enough shape who overconsume resources, such as buying huge houses and SUVs and leaving air conditioning on while going on a vacation.

I am both in a good physical shape and live minimally. I live in small quarters and do not even use air conditioning. I also do over 2 hours of exercise a day. I have had periods when I was slightly overweight as a result of medication that I was taking; but I have been looking after my health, and even though I am not currently looking for female attention I look good.

I do not know if this is going to be read; however I hope that it is. I am not proud of my going-ons with Louise, but she is a good person and she has been able to forgive me. As for the fat wars, once again, we are seeing a visible sign of a much larger problem and one that we need to address. Overconsumption of resources to the point that it's no longer even good for the person who does it is a moral problem. And it is fixed by reducing consumption to a more reasonable level while also encouraging behaviors that lead to health.
