What does "Hang Fire" mean? Anyone heard "Hang Fire (take 3)" from the
tattoo sessions? It's a trip!!

"Hang Fire" is a British expression meaning loaf around, relax, do
nothing, take a break. I love that line "Marrying money is a full-time
job; I don't need the aggravation, I'm a lazy slob". BTW, I never heard
the Tattoo sessions. Where can I get this?

The term comes from the days of flintlock guns - when the
gunpowder in the flash pan received the spark from the flint hitting
steel, it ignited, with the resultant flash USUALLY setting off the
gunpowder loaded in the barrel, which then propelled the musket ball out
of the barrel. However, when the flashpan charge didn't ignite the main
charge, or there was a delay, the gun was said to "hang fire". This is
also the origin of the American expression "a flash in the pan", meaning
something that looked promising, but that had no result.

I love that line "Marrying money is a full-time

It's one of my favorite lines of theirs...

Also in the U.S. it is an old and therefore seldom used expression that
we say "things are hanging fire" meaning we have stuff to do but we are
putting it off until later.
