When I was in a fraternity in the late 60's and early 70's we used to
tape good party songs on a reel-to-reel, then drag them out at parties,
pump up the volume and have a good time. One song I remember we blasted
all the time was Cotton Fields, but I don't remember who recorded it.

Some of the best all time frat party songs, in my opinion [two of these
even made it into the movie "Animal House"]:

Louie, Louie -- The Kingsmen
Shout! -- The Isley Brothers
Double Shot -- The Swingin' Medallions

Cotton Fields was recorded by the Highwaymen....

Other "blasters" from frat and sorority parties in the 70's I can remember
are:

Nah, Nah, Nah (Kiss 'em Goodbye) Steam
Tequila -The Champs
I Fought the Law - The Bobby Fuller Four
We Ain't Got Nothing Yet - Blues Magoos
Whole Lotta Shakin' Goin' On--Jerry Lee Lewis
GoodGolly Miss Molly-/Jenny Take a Ride - Mitch Ryder & the Detroit Wheels
Respect...Aretha
Just Like Me - Paul Revere and the Raiders
You Can't Sit Down - Paul Revere and the Raiders
And Night Train (whose artist escapes me now)
Heck...I can even flashback on some hangovers from hel*..if I think about
it!

All of these, and many more, are on the Rhino compilation CD's Frat Rock, Son
of Frat Rock, and Grandson of Frat Rock.
