New Metal bands with the pure old school sound.

school sound. I think they're freaking great considering that the older
metal bands are now putting out rather low quality stuff in my opinion.
Have you guys heard of bands such as The Sword, Early Man, Danava, Dead
Child, The Gates of Slumber, Witch, Priestess, Municipal Waste, and
Sasquatch. Their stuff is unbelieveable high quality old school metal.
Much better than anything Priest, Maiden, and Motorhead have done over
the last few years. It at least gives me some hope that there's good
hard rock and metal being made out there. I like seeing new metal bands
doing it the old school way. Recording their music on analog equipment
instead of digital, bringing back strong riffs and solo's and turning
that thick bass all the way up. That's the Metal I love. Anyway, any
opinions are appreciated. MetalHead Jay.

or you don't. I just want your personal input on them. I mean this is
the place for people that like old school metal.....right? What you have
to at least admit to is that these particular bands that I listed are
making better quality metal than the old guard( Priest,
Maiden,Motorhead). I worship those bands probably like many of you but
their music is not as strong as it ounce was. I think I listed some
great bands. If you disagree. How about giving me a list of your
personal favorite old school sounding new metal bands. I'm always on the

I am the on the official welcoming committee for this group. Sorry for
the delay in welcoming you, but I was out of town.
You pose an interesting question and one which should be further
discussed. I don't know what I think of any of the bands you mentioned
because I have never heard of any of them. The only new metal band I
have liked in the past few years was a band out of San Francisco that
sounded like Kill 'Em All era Metallica. For the purposes of a cogent
discussion about some of these new bands you like, I think you should
narrow it down to two of your favorites and post a YouTube link so that
we might sample their sound. Then I would be more than happy to give my
opinion.
As for not liking what the oldschool metal bands are putting out these
days, I cannot say I entirely agree. I was quite taken with Iron
Maiden's A Matter of Life and Death even though it is often viewed as a
departure from their signature sound. I found it representative of their
overall sound and enjoyed the departure from the expected. Black Sabbath
with the legendary Ronnie James Dio at the helm also put out a couple of
new songs recently. I thought they were excellent and reminiscent of the
Dehumanizer era. Judas Priest's new album also has some material that I
like.

popular among most diehards. "The Sword" and "Early Man". About the
older Metal legends. I didn't say that I disliked what they were doing
now totally. I just feel that alot of the younger bands with that old
school sound are putting out much better albums on a whole. I think the
new Sabbath/Dio stuff is pretty good but the lyrics could have been
stronger and they should have recorded the songs the old way on analog
equipment. The same goes for Maiden and Priest. The albums aren't great
but there's some stand out songs that are pretty good but again
especially with Priest...the lyrics leave alot to be desired. I think
they should have taken more time to make the albums and perfect them.
Hell, if AC/DC can take up to four years to make an album then why not
Priest and Maiden. Especially if it's better overall. That wouldn't
bother me.At least I'll know that the quality of the music is good and
the album as a whole is good. Jason

I listened to "Death is the Answer" by Early Man. They sound like they
want to sound like Ozzy Sabbath. If I heard them on the radio, I
probably wouldn't change the station.
I also listened to "Winter's Wolves" by The Sword. Again, they sound
like they want to sound like a doomier version of Ozzy Sabbath mixed
with a little Blue Cheer. I liked them better than the other one and
would not change the station. This song sounds a little strange, though.
It almost sounds like they are playing homage to ""Fairies Wear Boots"
with slight timing problems during certain parts. Or maybe the timing is
supposed to sound like that.
I don't know. It takes me a while to warm up to new music. It could grow
on me. But sometimes I honestly think I'd rather listen to a good
Sabbath cover band than a new band who wants to be like Sabbath. It
reminds me of all of those queer psychedelic jam bands who want to be
like the Grateful Dead. They remind me of echoes of ripples of a once
great wave - not the real thing.

Because I hear a few other influences in their music. Now, it's obvious
that they were heavily influenced by Sabbath but what real hard rock and
metal band wasn't? They're duplicating that sound somewhat but I think
they're great and the quality of their albums on a whole is really good.
These are bands that are trying to make good albums. They're not content
with just being a singles band. Which really makes me appreciate them
even more so. Listen to their complete albums and you'll see what I
