Has anybody ever noticed that Kirk's solo near the beginning of For Whom
the Bell Tolls sounds a lot like the end riff of Black Sabbath's Fairies
Wear Boots?
I've never heard of anything said or written about this.

You know, you're right... they do sound verrrry similar...

.I don't think that this was intentional... the two songs really have
nothing to do with each other, and Bell Tolls is from a period when I
trusted Metallica to come up with original music and such. It was probably
unintentional ..Does anyone know if the notes are the same?

Also, Slayer's Mandatory Suicide and Pantera's A New Level
sound like the bit near the start of For Whom The Bell
Tolls. I can't explain which bit with text, so work it out
for yourselves! Anyone agree?

It's similar indeed, but what about the riff at the very start, they
launch into it after the bell tolls. Sounds a bit like the riff in
Venom's 'Warhead'. Sticking together Venom and Sabbath in the same song,
says it all about thrash metal really.

Sorry, this is a little (way) off topic now, but any Venom fans e-mail me
please. Looking for the songs "Senile Decay" and "Venom".

No. They sorta sound similar, but only marginally. Playing wise (ie. guitar
riffs) are very different!

Cheers

Simon.
