The original KeA CD has all the songs and is now very rare.

The original Kill 'em all was dist. by Atlantic Recordings Inc.
The re-release of Kill 'em all was dist. by Electra records.

So, I'm assuming that the re-release ( Electra ) didn't have the
rights to publish the 2 other songs.

Wrong. The original release of Kill 'em All had only ten songs. The
extra 2 were added after signing with electra and releasing Ride The
Lightning. Then they were deleted for the thrid release (second from
electra). I'm not quite sure exactly why they were deleted.

This is accurate. The two extra tracks were dropped in late 1992. My
theory is that the band and record company at that time were already
planning to seek a favorable response from the rising alternative
audience, and therefore wanted to sever any ties to the New Wave Of
British Heavy Metal (which the bands Diamondhead and Blitzkrieg were
part of), as acknowledging such influences might alienate grunge
listeners, and hurt Metallica's commercial appeal.

OK here goes.
Kill 'em all was originally released in 1983 on Megaforce with 10
tracks. Hit the Lights, The four Horsemen, Motorbreath, Jump in the
fire, whiplash, pulling teeth, phantom lord, no remorse, seek and
destroy and metal militia.
when the band signed with elektra, KEA was not released on that label
until 1988, with the two bonus tracks. It was then re-released on
Elektra without the two bonus tracks.

as far as cd's go, the megaforce is rarest. next rarest would be the
12 track version, then the newer version with 10 tracks also.
Technecally, there are 2 versions of the elektra release with 10
tracks. the first just on elektra, and the second on E/M ventures, the
result of the big lawsuit Metallica had with elektra. you can tell
these two apart because, the e/m ventures release will say so on the
disc, and the cd package will include Metclub info....any other
questions?

Maybe cause you got the _real original_ version of Kill 'em all, that
doesn't include Blitzkreig and Am I evil? They were done after as
covers and included later to the album.

Wait a sec...this is a pretty valid question. The reason the two songs are
missing is that they are covers of other bands and, when Metallica switched
record labels they no longer could distribute them on the album.

I have two Kill 'Em All CD's and they both have Am I Evil & Blitzkrieg
on them. If you buy the new re-released re-mastered one, it doesn't have
those songs on it.

I've seen one person who has the right info here.

Kill em all was originally released by Megaforce records ( As was Ride the
lightning & Whiplash ). The uk originals were on Music for nations ( As were
the Creeping death & Jump in the fire ep's)
When Electra signed the band & bought the rights to the first two lp's, they
wanted to add bonus tracks to boost sales. The bonus tracks were licensed from
Music for nations (Taken from the Creeping death ep) for a set period of time.

Megaforce records never released a CD. CD's didn't really hit the
market big untill 1986. (Dire Straits's brothers in arms, was pretty much
the first ROCk CD) Metallica Signed with Elektra in 1986, Elektra released
Puppets, and re-released the first two albums (Kill 'Em All, and Lightning)
The first release of Kill 'Em All (in 1983) Didn't have Blitzkrieg or Am I
Evil on it (The release by Megaforce) The re-release (in 1986 or so) on
Elektra records did have them. Now, the new ones don't.

Actually they did release it on cd. I own it. It looks like the
Elektra version, but the back cover is white.
Metallica signed with Elektra in 1984.......
KEA wasn't re-released until 1988

Wrong answer again
the songs were not included until 1988, well after they switched
record labels.also the songs were not included on any megaforce U.S.
release ever

I believe they were done by different distributers. Why the later
distributer decided to cut them, well I don't know.

You're wrong on the Megaforce point: I have a Megaforce
pressing of Kill 'Em All, labeled MRI CD 069, Megaforce
Records, Inc. It's the genuine issue... Cd's weren't big
before '86 or so, i agree, but there were a few. I bet the
KEA cd is a real rarety, being both an independent label and
an early cd.

Elecktra doesn't have the license for them. they now only hold the rights
for the original version of kill em all- megaforce label kill em all didn't
have those songs. this all changed when metallica re-negotioated their

Hi all,

Well I live in Canada and the vinyl megaforce in the old days, (canadian release
anyway) had these two cover songs on it. My UK pic disc import does not have the
cover tunes on em. When I picked up the cd (can't remember when) it had the two
cover songs on it. Now these are tough to find. Good luck finding a cd with
these two tracks on it. Some bootleg cd's I have seen have these cover songs on
em with good cd quality.

Wrong again , my original copy had the 2 extra songs , but to me their not extras , they just somehow disappeared off of the newer releases of the album .. I still have my original cassette copy and you can hear the songs plain as Day .. first to be removed was " am I evil " don't have any idea why and when they removed "blitzkreig " !?
