Got into the concert at about 7:15, the concert was supposed
to start at about 7:30. Shihad was the first back-up band they
were pretty cool. There was a big pit going in the middle of
hall. Me and my friend jump the barrier thingo to get were the
pit is, but i got caught three times and the "Security" said
he'd kick me out next time. So i walked down the other end of
the seated area and jumped over there (they wanted us to sit
in our seats and watch them!!!!, what bullshit). Shihad were
on for about 30 minutes.

Biohazard came out and they were sick. They played just thrash.
The pit was going crazy, shirts, bottles and people were flying
everywhere. "Shades of Grey" is a great song. Phil came out to
sing with Biohazard for a song and the crowd went nuts. Biohazard
finished off while Phil sat behind them drinking beer. Biohazard
played for about 45 minutes.

The set was prepared and their was a Trendkill backdrop put up.
It was placed in front of the stage so ya couldn't see them.
Suicide Note Pt. 1 came on, it was the real thing off the album,
just the same at the end, this was soooo cool, the backdrop fell
and the craziness began. They started with Suicide Note Pt.2 and
everyone just raced for the pit. Here is the set-list, some not
in order.

Suicide Note Pt.1 (real)

Suicide Note Pt.2 (live started) - this song and the next one I
couldn't even hear him singing. Even Phil said he couldn't hear
himself.

13 Steps To Nowhere - as i said above

A New Level - This was the first one i knew real well, so i moshed
badly to this one.

Becoming - he said a heap of shit about the bullshit magazine spin
then started the song. This was definately the best song of the
night!!!. The double-kicks were rumbling the already-rumbling floor.

Mouth For War - Another one i knew well, i went crazy at this one,
the pit was getting huge at this moment.

Fucking Hostile - I yelled my freakin' throat out on this song, "In
Turn, Your Making Us......FUCKING HOSTILE!!!!"

Walk - Dimebag played the start riff about ten times then it started.
They got this fellow from the crowd for back-up vocals and they were
making him have shots of whiskey, he was singing this song as well.
The guy from Biohazard came out and sang "Walk" as well.

5 Minutes Alone - It is so much better than the album, it was faster,
i went crazy again.

This Love - the lighters came out, the crowd settled down again, so i
decided to go up to where the pit WAS. I unfortunately forgot about
the heavy part, and got smashed as soon as i got in there, i was
punched in the head, head-butted and kicked in the head (they were
throwing people around).

Domination - Phil said they'd play a song that everyone wanted and
he chose this.

Primal Concrete Sledge - He said it was the last song so everyone
went nuts again. I got smashed even more this time.

They said "seeya". The lights went out. Everyone in the crowd
started chanting "PANTERA-PANTERA". They came back out again to play.

Planet Caravan - out came the lighters again. The crowd seemed
uneasy with this song but.

The lights went out again. The over the speakers "WE'RE TAKING OVER
THIS TOWN!!!!"

Cowboys From Hell\Great Southern Trendkill - I heard that then went
psycho. They played the first verse of Cowboys, then the first of
Trendkill, then the rest of Cowboys. Then this time they went. All
in all a 10 out of 10. The concert went for 2 hours 45 mins

Phil Quotes and Stuff
=====================

- He asked if we like the new Metallica Album, everyone booed, then
he said "I didn't ay a word"

- He was paying out the Japanese because they dont know the words
to the songs.

- He said how much the Americans are tight-arses, because "Pantera
play too fast!"

- He said how everyone always asks him how he is feeling (prob about
overdose), he says "I feel fucking great".

- This chick was on this guy shoulders and shit had pretty big assets.
Phil goes "look at the cans on that one", the crowd was chanting,
"take it off, take it off"

* Well i'm definately going to go next time they come!*

It really shows how Pantera have to downgrade Metallica to be liked... Very
stupid. When they'll know how to play and write good music, they can come
back...

Why, because he's feeling fucking great, and doesn't like the
new Metallica album. He has a right to his opinion. And they don't have
to bag out Metallica to be liked. Pantera is now better than Metallica,
admit it.

I will never admit it because it's totally not true!

Hey! Face it! TGSTK is 100% crap! So much noise... nothing musical at
all... just listen to the first 30 seconds of the album... it's only screaming
and SHITTY GUITAR!...

Pantera has just followed Metallica and now they give 'em shit... hmmm...
sounds stupid! Do you remember when they invited Jason to sing Seek and Whip?
They didn't create anything... their stuff is only noise... that's all it is.

Well, maybe some die-hard "don't like any other band" Metallica fans
might not agree with it. Which all you people seem to be. I like both
bands but my love for Pantera has now overtaken my love for Metallica.

Jesus, what an ignorant git. The first 30 seconds of the song are supposed to be
intense and after that it goes into a really grooving riff. The rest of the album is
the same, burts of intensity combined with grooving riffs. Listen to the main riffs
of War Nerve, Drag the Waters, Suicide Note Pt II, Living Through Me (Hell's Wrath),
not to mention Walk, Cowboys From Hell, Mouth For War, 5 minutes Alone, A New Level,
and many others off of their other albums. They just mosh. Metallica is about
"attitude"?? What type of fucking attitude?? And what's wrong with smoking dope.
Metallica probably do it on a regular basis. Walk on home boy.

Phil and Pantera are the most disrespectful band around. To straight out
critize another band is straight out wrong.
I saw them and he Phil did his Who likes load thing. hand to me he came
across as arrogrant and very insecure abiut his own band.
Metallica will be around alot longer after Phill dies of another Herion
OD.
I have to admit that their live show is pretty good but it was short only
1 and a half hours.

Even if you think TGSTK is cool, there's just no excuse for the amount
of bullshit that Phil went on with at the Brisbane gig. Many people
around me were noticable pissed off with his preaching about whatever
came into his head - a good example was when Phil was raving to the tune
of "All we care about is the f**king music...", and some dude near me
yelled back "Well why don't you shut up and play some???"

Pantera played a short show, 1/2 music 1/2 Phil's sermon. I didn't pay
money to hear what he reckons about LOAD. I paid to hear him SING!

Oh, and they MURDERED Planet Caravan live...

The only brainless thing Phil said was "Hey, nice cans" to that chick,
but that
was a laugh, anyway.

Many people around me were noticable pissed off with his preaching about
whatever
came into his head - a good example was when Phil was raving to the tune
of "All we care about is the f**king music...",

But I friggin liked the way Phil was talking about stuff. It's better
than last tour (94) when Phil hardly said anything. Phil had a good
point when he talking about how he hates people who come to their
concerts just to be "cool" because the singer's bald (well not now) or
"hey, he's got a pink beard!!" and just stare at them and don't give 2
shits about the music. That's not speaking bullshit. They're words I
totally agree with, man. And so should you.

and some dude near me
yelled back "Well why don't you shut up and play some???"

Obviously, he doesn't give a fuck about Pantera. Just another poser,
probably.

> Pantera played a short show, 1/2 music 1/2 Phil's sermon.

Yeah, only about 80 minutes, which was too short, 94% music, 6% Phil's
chatting.

I didn't pay money to hear what he reckons about LOAD. I paid to hear
him SING!

That LOAD thing, well a lot of people there responded to that
(Not me, BTW, I was yelling out "It's Alright!!":-) ) so they didn't
mind being asked.
And that particular comment would have only cost about 15 cents, anyway.
:-)

Oh, and they MURDERED Planet Caravan live...

Oh, it wasn't that bad...not as bad as This Love (shudder).

I agree its about the music. But he's saying that, but really spending
half the time trying to prove Pantera's the greatest, and everything
else sucks. Heavy metal mags, etc. Probly anyone who's ever said
something Phil didn't like, he bitched about. Kinda funny that when he
said he hated how people always whine about shit, he actually spends
most of his time whining himself!

? Or maybe he's a fan since Cowboys from Hell, who wanted to hear them
play some songs, but got to listen to Phil's sermon instead!

hang on, you're criticsising (sp?) pantera for noise and shitty music, praising metallica,
but then saying that pantera followed metallica, which means then that metallica
were producing noise and shit, which probably ain't what you meant at all now is it.
doesn't bother me either way, as both bands latest albums aren't up to some of their
older stuff.

Your love for pantera has grown beyond your love of Metallica- fine.
Pantera is better than Metallica, and only people who like nothing but
Metallica won't admit it- Wrong. It is just your opinion, it is not
a fact that everyone else must agree to or be thrown in with the
slobbering, uneducated masses. In my opinion, Pantera was once a quality
band. The music was hard-edged and honest, and the lyrics contained insight
and integrity. Then Far Beyond Driven happened. The honesty and insight
were replaced with mindless wailing and useless "I'm a badass" posturing.
Trendkill has more of what made Pantera good than FBD, but still not
enough to make it a good album. Pantera is farther behind Metallica today
than they were when Vulgar Display was released, admit it (snicker snicker).

What's the deal with Pantera around here. I've had Vulgar
Display of Power forever, and it's always been cool to listen
to. I recently pulled it out again and got into it, and
decided to go out and get another Pantera cd.

I got The Great Southern Trendkill. I actually LISTENED to the
beginnings of allt he songs in the store, and thought is was
going to be cool.

Little did I know... all they did the rest of the time is
scream. No, I don't mean scream lyrics. All the idiots did
was scream... like a Halloween haunted house record or
something.

It was sick. I thought, fromt he way people have talked about
them, they would be at least as good as Vulgar Display of
Power, which is the last time I saw thiem live. I can't
imagine seeing them now... what do they do... have five backup
screamers?

This stuff sucked. I'm just glad the record store took it
back. Traded it in for Tim McGraw. (They thought I was nuts
for that switch though)

If anybody can assure me that The Great Southern Trendkill was
not good Pantera, maybe I'll try Comwboys from Hell or
something, but geez... I'll stick to Vulgar, Metallica, and
Country for now.

You mean in the three months since I saw Pantera Phil learned to do something
other than SCREAM? No fuckin' way!

>Oh, and they MURDERED Planet Caravan live...

I believe it. The first time I heard their version of it, I thought it was
just another crappy song until I realized that is was supposed to be a
Sabbath cover tune.

I despise Load, but comparing Pantera to Metallica is almost like comparing
Napalm Death to Iron Maiden; they just ain't in the same league, period.
Concertwise, Pantera aren't very good showmen (they just shout a lot), while
Metallica could probably play reggae and still whip the crowd into a frenzy.
Musically, both bands have gone downhill considerably over the past two
albums, IMO. I hate Pantera's technique of using noise and screaming as
"intensity"; it smells strongly of poor songwriting. Except for the older
stuff, give me Megadeth, Iron Maiden, Dream Theater, Overkill, Testament, or
Slayer any day.

Vulgar's their best, no doubt about it but I don't know where you got
the screaming
on every track from. The only songs that Phil really screams in are the
title track,
Suicide Note Pt II and little bits in the other tracks. The rest has
Phil's new
low growl in them.

Mate, there was a song played, I can't remember if it was Shihad or Biohazard and I can't find it anywhere, I do remember the Lyrics had the chorus "What a fucking one hit wonder you are, what a fucking one hit wonder"

You recall the song name or who actually sung the damn thing?
