I pulled this off "the mining company's" metal page. There's a
interview with Metallica's original bassist and tacked at the end of
the interview are some quotes from Dave back in '84.
Here's the one that should settle the FFF/Motorbreath thread:

"When I joined that band they only had one song - "Hit the Lights" -
James did not write that song, a guy by the
name of Hugh Tanner wrote it. Then we did "Jump Into The Fire", "The
Mechanix", and the song
"Motorbreath" - which is another Hugh Tanner wrote, and I wrote the
intro to that, which Lars didn't know how
to drum.
I wrote the most songs on that whole fuckin' album! I wrote four of
them, James wrote three, and Hugh
Tanner wrote two!" Dave Mustaine, January 1984

There ya have it. 14 years later Dave may take this back, but he did
use the Motorbreath intro in FFF, and back in '84 he claimed he wrote
that part, not James Hetfield, who gets credit for it on the Kill em
All inlay cover.

Personally, I believe Dave about the Motorbreath into, but Tanner
writing that much material seems to be a bit over the top.

Back then I would tend to think that Dave was still pretty pissed off
about being booted from MetallicA and just said that.

Of course we ALL believe Dave, he wrote all the decent shit on the
first album! If he wants to reuse it then he can and will!

I would doubt most anything dave said right after being kicked. He was
talking a lot of shit at that time. He also was saying that he came up with
the name "metallica", and it was a combination of metal and vodka. He
spread a lot of rumors because he was bitter. I would like to ask dave
about that stuff today, because he has put everything behind him, and he
would likely tell the truth now. He wants to do a project with james, so I
am sure ALL hard feelings are gone. I wish we had a quote that talked about
FFF's relation. I am sure it has been asked.
