Phantom Lord - This was my Life
The Four Horsemen - Mecanix
Motorbreath - FFF
The Prince - Victory
that one is special... since Metallica didn't compose The Prince... but it
was the first time I've heard the song, and I don't even know who composed
it. But the solo is the same (except for a few variations) that Victory's.
now I'm not trying to say that Megadeth rip off Metallica. I'm not trying to
say Metallica is better than Megadeth. I just want people to answer me and
relate other similarities they have heard...
Corrosion
About 2 mins into Sin it sounds like Creeping Death
You can count out Mechanix because it's actually the original version of
The Four Horsemen.

Actually, 'The Four Horsemen' is a re-written version of Mechanix,
not the other way around. If you look at your copy of Metallica's
'Kill Em All', you'll see Mustaine's name in the credits for
The Four Horsemen (as well as Jump In The Fire, Phantom Lord, and
Metal Militia).

Hi
You do realise that Mustaine wrote Mecanix and performed with Metallica for
quite a while, until he was kicked and the lyrics were changed by
Hetfield?? I kind of agree with the others though, I just think that even
if Megadeth did steal them, they did a great job of it and made some
fantastic songs with them
Enjoy yourself

[snip profoundly ridiculous logic]
A LARGE chunk of Slayer's Show No Mercy (1983) sounds a LOT like stuff
from Ride the Lightning (1984), but Show No Mercy was released first, so
METALLICA RIPPED OFF SLAYER! SLAYER IS BETTER THAN METALLICA BECAUSE
SLAYER RELEASED THOSE RIFFS FIRST!!!!1!!1!!!!1!11!11!!!!!1!!1
AND Slayer's Haunting the Chapel (1983) sounds a WHOLE LOT like
Metallica's ...And Justice for All (1988)!!! METALLICA RIPPED OFF
SLAYER AGAIN SO SLAYER IS BETTER THAN METALLICA
AGAIN!!!!1!!!1!!!!1!!111!111!!!11!!1111!!!!1!!!!!11!!1!1
(Do I REALLY think this? No, not really. The bands (Metallica, Slayer
and Megadeth) are in the SAME bloody genre and are as contemporary to
each other as 2 bands can get (Megadeth and Metallica, that is). I DO
think this inane post of yours, Corrosion, was bloody stupid and
troll-like to the point of being trite. Give it up, little boy.)

Sweetie, he _did_ say in his post that he wasn't saying Metallica were better.
He just wanted to see if other people found other similar riffs......sure, it
might be anal and gay, but it was hardly a 'hurrah for Met/down with 'Deth'
post.

yup, that really pissed off a lot of metallica sheep in the metallica
newsgroup. many hardcore metallica fans started crying over how
megadeth could steal such a wellthough out and original power chord
riff and use it in such a notable megadeth song!

really I'll have to check it out...
Corrosion
yeah I'm pretty sure it is.. but the fact is that Metallica released it
before Megadeth... even if Dave composed all these, Metallica still did them
before em.. that's the idea of the subject...
Corrosion
read my other message, the point of the subject was not to know who wrote
it, but who recorded it first... I know Mechanix is the original version of
T4H but it was released after, so it fits into the category...
i don't think Megadeth stole em.. most of these riffs are from songs on Kill
em All, riffs Dave prolly composed himself...
Corrosion
you're a fucking idiot.
the goal of this conversations were not to know who composed the better
riffs first, who stole them from who, the goal was only to trace back
similar riffs that Megadeth used from Metallica, and make a list of em...
for fun, dammit. In fact, I like Megadeth better than Metallica, so I'm not
dissing them for using Met riffs...
Corrosion
you don't remember? listen to both, you'll understand.. at the end of this
was my life, Dave sings:
...This was my life, this was my faith...
think about Phantom Lord, in the middle part of it, i think just before the
solo (dunno where my KEM cd could be...)

they're stupid. I'm a hardcore Met and Deth fan... Megadeth didn't steal the
riff.. I'm pretty sure Dave was the one who wrote it back in KEM when he was
with Met.... otherwise he wouldn't have taken it, he can write his own
stuff pretty well.. or maybe the goal was to piss off Met fans.. :)

Well, if Dave did write them, then shouldn't the thread be called riffs Dave
wrote, Metallica used, and Dave then used in Megadeth? It sounds like you're
saying Dave took them from Metallica. When Metallica used ones Dave wrote. I
hate that. People sayinghow Megadeth was copying Metallica all those years.
When in fact Dave wrote alot of that stuff when he was with Metallica and they
just gave him a little credit on them.
>I know Mechanix is the original version of<BR>
>T4H but it was released after, so it fits into the category...<B
It might have been released first as T4H but they were singing it first as
Mechanix. At least that's what someone in this newsgroup said before. And if
it was then it doesn't fit the category.
Yeah, that's true; for the record Mustaine also helped write Phantom
Lord and Creeping Death.
No he didn't. Hes not on those songs.
> you're a fucking idiot.
Actually, I may have been. Fucking an idiot, I mean. We don't know yet.

"...riffs that Megadeth used from Metallica..." Perhaps it's just your
phrasing, but that comes across as "Metallica wrote it first and since
it was already written, everybody else who has used it/will use it is
using a Metallica riff." The same thing holds true still then, about
Slayer and Metallica.
And I realized that you weren't comparing one to the other. It'd been a
long, hard, hellish day and I was on the warpath. Sorry you came into my
sights. I apologize for that.
Toodles.
D. "FUCK EVERYTHING." Mentia
I would have wrote that.. but most people wouldn't have understand what it
meant... but for all these, Metallica still recorded the riff before
Megadeth, each time... i say it's a coincidence only...
Corrosion
hey no problems... I still have problems expressing ideas in english... i
can talk/write pretty easily... but expressing ideas is another thing...
i need more practice... :)

Thats IT!!!!!11!!! I finally figured it out thanks to you! Metallica
just finally got tired of ripping off all of Slayer's riffs, so they
decided to write their own for a change, and ended up spewing
out a load or two!~ (me, I think they shoulda just stuck with the
Slayer riffs ). :-)
