Does anyone know what the lyrics of "Tornado of Souls" off Rust in Peace
mean? I keep listening to the song and I can't quite figure out what it's
about. Oh and here are the lyrics for those who don't know them:

This morning I made the call
The one that ends it all
Hanging up, I wanted to cry
But dammit, this well's gone dry
Not for the money, not for the fame
Not for the power, just no more games

Chorus:
But now I'm safe in the eye of the tornado
I can't replace the lies, that let a thousand days go
No more living trapped inside
In her way I'll surely die
In the eye of the tornado, blow me away

You'll grow to loathe my name
You'll hate me just the same
You won't need your breath
And soon you'll meet your death
Not from the years, not from the use
Not from the tears, just self abuse

Chorus

Who's to say, what's for me to say
Who's to say, what's for me to be
Who's to say, what's for me to do
Cause a big nothing it'll be for me

The land of opportunity
The golden chance for me
My future looks so bright
Now I think I've seen the light

Can't say what's on my mind
Can't do what I really feel
In this bed I made for me
Is where I sleep, I really feel

I warn you of the fate
Proven true to late
Your tongue twist perverse
Come drink now of this curse
And now I fill your brain
I spin you round again
My poison fills your head
As I tuck you into bed
You feel my fingertips
You won't forget my lips
You'll feel my cold breath
It's the kiss of death

"Tornado Of Souls" is about Dave Mustaine's relationship with his first
fiancee, Diana Aragon. The songs "Wake Up Dead", "In My Darkest Hour", and
"This Was My Life" are also about their torrid affair.

That's funny, because I find a lot of references to rape and murder in the
song. And "This was My Life" doesn't sound like a relationship song; it
sounds like being put under capital punishment, "Somewhere an electric chair
awaits . . . This was my life / This was my fate"

IMO, the song is about a real bad relationtionship where the girl Dave is
singing about is very controlling and her controlling nature drives him so
crazy and hurts him so much that at the end of the song, he wants to kill her
because he can't take it anymore.

Greetings,

In Tornadow of Souls, Dave's ending a relationship. The song is about a
relationship gone bad. She haunts him in his sleep, though he's "torn that
page away." Safe in the eye of the tornadow means that he is starting over
with out knowing where he's going, but there ain't no turning back. He
remembers bad times more than good. He must move on.

If you listen very closely, you'll see what it's like.

Devils Island - You're telling me that Tornado of Souls and Devils
Island are directly related by meaning?

*Laughs*

Not everrything I say or type should be taken that way.
Let's just say, I like to stay on topic. *grin*

Well, who knows if "Devils Island" is about the same woman. Notice that
throughout "Island" Dave sings about "her" and "she", as in "To the stake, my
last request: to have her burn with me."
But a theory of mine that I think works is that the "she" in "Devils Island"
is Evil itself. He says, "the lesson taught to me/ To stay away from evil/ She
doesn't care for me/ She haunts me in my sleep/ Though I tore that page away/
And here on Devils Island/ I'll always have to stay"
The guy that's the subject of the song is regretting evil he's done in his
life, and for some reason has given Evil a female persona. Why, specifically,
who knows? Perhaps a woman made him commit some sort of atrocity.

I think "it" fits.

Who cares if it's about the same woman? Women are evil, just like men call
their car, "she," or "her." You should've seen the look on my friends faces
the day I called my car "he." This is a concept they couldn't fathom. I just
did it cause it was cracking me up with how often they labeled their car(s)
as feminine. So, does the automotive industry get the first women's
liberation award?

Next time it's gonna be you.

Plz don't take Marty's advice and go rent "Papillon". It's a story of a convict who
gets shipped to a French prison (named Devil's Island) located in the French
Guiana, because he had escaped all the other "lesser" prisons.
I guess that's why they call Alcatraz the America's Devil's Island.

I'm not a movie critic, but i can tell you that it's an awesome movie.
It's a true story and it has great perfomances from Steve McQueen, who plays
the character Papillon and Dustin Hoffman plays the secondary character (i
can't remember the name).

The Deth song isn't about the movie, but about the prison itself. Like someone
already said, I think the prison symbolizes entrapment from a woman or another
kind of evil :-)

I thought In My Darkest Hour was about Cliff Burton?

Nope, it was INSPIRED by the death of Cliff Burton, not about it. Dave said
that he wrote it the day he found out Cliff died. The song is about a
relationship gone awry, and the suicidal feelings resulting from it.
