Hi all,

I just put together a b-side compilation on CD-R (for my own listening
pleasure of course!), and I think I got everything (from the Spaceward stuff
up to the current Run To The Hills single) but I wanted to run it by you
guys to see if I was missing anything. I got it all to fit in 5 CD's. By
the way, will there be another single coming out from Rock In Rio?

Children Of The Damned (live '82)
Total Eclipse (live '82)
22 Acacia Avenue (live '82)
The Prisoner (live '82)

There were some additions/omissions, and some rare stuff, for example, there
are more tracks in the release where interview with Nicko/raw mix of Losfer
Words at the end of Volume 3 came from, but I had no more room; there is
also a drums and bass track for Losfer Words (amazing!), and three short
snippets with the original, and Dave's and Adrian's harmonies for the song.
These were oficially released by some British guitar magazine.

The VXI unmastered tracks came from a promo that was released before the
album came out. They're essentially the same songs, except that you can
hear stuff, for example, like Nicko counting off the songs.

The BNW rehearsals were technically not oficially released (although they
may be in a promo disc), but they were broadcasted in the Brave New World
premiere radio show.

I didn't include the "Triumph Mix" of From Here To Eternity because to my
untrained ear, it sounds the same as the regular album version, and it has
the same length.

I thought of including the short version of Running Free from Live After
Death, but it is available in the old 1-CD version and in Best Of The Beast.

Of course, technically, Maiden England belongs here, but that's a whole CD,
and I just have it as part of my regular CD collection.

That's a pretty cool compilation, but you left out "Bayswater Ain't A Bad
Place To Be" and the live version of "Afraid To Shoot Strangers" from the
2-CD version of Best Of the Beast. But aside from that, it all looks pretty
good.

Thanks! Actually, I did end up including the live version of Afraid To
Shoot Strangers from Best Of The Beast. I debated whether to do it, but if
I included Virus, then I should include Afraid...

Bayswater is actually only named in bootlegs, isn't it? I don't think is
listed as such in official releases (I may be wrong), but at any rate, in my
compilation, it's right before Nodding Donkey Blues.

I have it, it's on 12' picture disc of Be Quick or Be Dead. It's a official
releases not an bootleg.

Can you provide any more info about the above? Very interesting.

It's in a CD from Guitar Techniques magazine. The March 1998 issue. The CD
specifics are:

It has a picture of Dave and Adrian from the Seventh Son tour on the cover;
it says "IRON MAIDEN Losfer Words" and in an inserted small red circle it
says "FEATURING A SPECIAL INTERVIEW WITH MAIDEN'S NICO MCBRAIN!" The CD is
#: GTCD 42 * March 98. The catalogue # (in the spine) is: GTC16 3 98. The
back cover has a picture of Adrian holding a Gibson SG against a yellow
background. The CD was put out by Future Publishing.

The Maiden tracks are:
5. Iron Maiden - Losfer Words
6. Losfer Words - Backing Track
7. Losfer Words - Original harmony part
8. Losfer Words - Harmony part backing #1
9. Losfer Words - Harmony part backing #2

All of those are played by Maiden (not some guitar instructor). My favorite
is the drums and bass backing track. The Losfer Words track itself is a raw
mix since you can hear all sorts of "noises" that include the sounds of
fingers running up the fretboard. I don't know how rare this is. I happen
to have two copies of this, and to be honest, I don't remember how I got
them because it was a long time ago. I haven't seen it floating around
really, or heard anyone talking about it.

The interview with Nicko is hilarious as usual. He's lost his voice, and he
even provides a vocal version while tapping on something with his fingers or
drumsticks!

Track 4 has the riffs for Rush's Fly By Night, Bastille Day, Closer To The
Heart, the "monsters" part from La Villa Strangiato (bass solo and all!),
The Trees, (A-Z Greatest riffs).

My next compilation is the Listen With Nicko! series, including part #11
from the No Prayer For The Dying promo CD.

Geez, I've never even heard of that magazine before. Those tracks
sound cool though. We do some Maiden covers in the band I'm in,
including Losfer. I'll have to do some searching and see if there's any
of those cd's floating around on eBay or anywhere.....unless you'd like
to sell one of yours?

Never heard of it but it sounds really interesting! Gotta find me a copy
somewhere. Sounds real hard to get hold of though...
