When I first heard their first EP in 83, they reminded me a lot of
Maiden. It's too bad Maiden couldn't lure Geoff Tate away after Bruce
left because Queensryche is horrible now as is the curent Maiden.
As far as a better vocalist, Geoff Tate gets my vote but I don't think
he compares to the total package Bruce offers in terms of stage
presence, song-writing, etc.
No. But what else would you expect on the Maiden ng?
Tate is a screecher. Bruce Dickinson has great tone, range, screams,
stage presence, showmanship, silly trousers, etc.
gmnr.
I too, first heard the QR Ep back around '84 and was blown away by
Geoff's high end vocals. Then when Rage For Order came out in '86, I knew
he was really special. I love Bruce, and think overall, that he brings
more to the table, but if you just went by voice alone, I would give the
nod to Geoff. There's something about the "high" singers that I really
like. I thought Geoff and Rob Halford were a couple of the best "high"
singers around, until I heard Tony Harnell of TNT and now I feel he's
the best. But getting back to Bruce and Geoff, Bruce has more range,
because he can go both low and high (although not as high), so based on
my tastes and affinity, I'll go against the grain of the NG and go with
Geoff.

"The beat goes on pounding out it's changes. Sometimes I lose the rhythm
along the way. It's upside down, it's all so syncopated. Ahead, behind,
the rhythm in my head." - Kennemore/Meniketti
Of course. Just like Maiden Queensryche (where in the hell is that y"
symbol?) hit their top 1988. But that's no reason to dismiss both bands now.

Your opinion. I absolutely love Promised Land and kind of like Hear In The
Now Frontier. The next album (without Chris DeGarmo) will prove what the
current position of the 'Ryche is.

I think that as lyricist Tate gets my vote too. And to the ppl who think
that Tate has a lesser range than Dickinson, they should listen to 'Silent
Lucidity' (first verse) vs. 'Blinded' (last 'scream'). Methinks there is
(was?) nothing wrong with Tate's range.
My vote goes to Jeffy.
(Of course both singers can't hold a candle to R.J. Dio. Now THAT is what i
call power!)
Cheers,
Flar.

Range and dynamics: Geoff.
Control: Geoff.
Power: Bruce.
Stage presence, persona, etc.: Bruce.
If you want to go strictly by professional singer qualities, not
anything else, that's Geoff.

If Bruce in Hardenberg was better then Maiden in Rotterdam then it must have
been really good, since I thought Maiden in Rotterdam was excellent. Too bad
I couldn't go to Hardenberg....

Just because someone sings with a "high pitched" voice doesn't mean they
sing like a girl. I think it takes a lot of talent to be able to sing
like Geoff Tate. As far as acting like a girl, what makes you say that?
Have you seen him live?? There's nothing that he's done to make me
think that. It sounds to me like you just dislike him and are resorting
to name calling.
