Grindcore - less emphasis on muscianship, no guitar solos, a more punk
aesthetic (just enough music to fit the lyrics),
guttural/screamed/incomprehensible vocals,
political/personal/social/anti-war/eco lyrics, the speed varying
depensding on the style - the stenchcore bands sound more like
Discharge type punk while the "actual" grindcore bands use blast beats
almost exclusively. Examples: Napalm Death (From Enslavement.... and
Scum), Disrupt, Assuck, Agathocles. DropDead. For stench core look to
any of the legions of Discharge clones like Disgust, (debatably
Disrupt) or the ENT style bands like Amen...
Can't really help with the Thrash/Speed thing, sorry.

Speaking of bands geting banded.. I just read CANNIBAL CORPSE f got
banned from playing in germany.. Because of there covers, and song
titles.. What a crock of shit... Also in the article they were talking
about how CC got the spot in Ace Ventura... Turns out Jim Carey (Dork)
loves DEATH metal... I still think carey is an idiot, But this raises
his standereds .... heheh... Can't Beleive he likes something like
corpse.. wow.. Whats the worl d coming to?
Bands You Should Listen To:
---------------------------
Grave / MachineHead / Life Of Agont / Amorphis /Carcass / NapalmDeath
: Well...
: Original Death Metal:
: Slayer, (one other band that escapes me), ONLY ONE!!!
Ok dude, I know the band that 'escapes' you!! It none other than the
Almighty:
***** V E N O M ***** Cronos, Mantas and Abaddon, the true innovators
of ALL thrash/death/speed/black/grindcore/power METAL!!!
: Death Metal:
: Death, Napalm Death, Obituary, Cracass, Cannibal Corpse, Entombed,
: Morbid Angel.
: Grindcore:
: Cathedral, Disharmonic Orchestra, Gorgoth.
Ok dude, here you made a little mistake, Cathedral is not grindcore, they
are more death kind of, and Napalm and Carcass (stuff before 'Heartwork')
are grindcore, along with Bolt Thrower who you missed totally.
: Speed Metal:
: Metallica (old), Nuclear Assault.
And don't forget old Anthrax.
-----> Death Incarnate
Oh yeah- Murray and Smith!!! Early Maiden showcased Davey, but the later
efforts of Adrian showed he had evolved into a very good guitarist; I'll not
go overboard and say "god". I really enjoy Adrian as a guitarist, a singer-
sure, he wasn't "THE GREATEST", but he did a nice job on A.S.A.P.- and I
especially like his songwriting ability. He and Dave were "great" because
they were friends and worked well as a team- like Tipton and Downing. So
yeah, Adrian would rate in my top 5.

I saw it too. I don't think it was them. Just their soundsystem and
monitors. Did you see Mustaine holding his ear (to hear himself) during
their last song? There were a couple of times that Ellefson (bass) went
back to the drums. I've seen bass players do this kind of thing before.
It always seems to happen when someone is off-beat or the tempo is
getting screwy.
IMHO, I don't think they looked overjoyed to be there...or maybe their
sound got them down.... They are still a great band, though. Everyone has
an "off" night.
Patty (on hubby's account)
That's not fair. Consider the music they were playing when they
started. They were one of the heaviest bands out there. For that they
deserve your respect. Sure, they haven't done anything worthwhile in
years, but they were great once.

Boy, you are a stupid motherfucker. Without Maiden none of those bands
you listen to would exist. Plus, Maiden is just as "heavy" as any of
those bands. They are ten times as musically original as Cannibal
Corpse. While I like Carcass, Amorphis, Death, Grave, Napalm Death and
Burzum, Maiden is just as good. So get a fucking clue and up the irons!
Oh well...maybe you're right Jim, but....they still suck!

OK, here it is - yes!! We have found the ultimate way to discern good music
from bad. If Nasacryst says it sucks, it must therefore be bad. He didn't enjoy
it - so that means the band has no talent whatsoever. We should all dump our
CD collections that consist of anything he doesn't like because it's just not
good at all.

As lousy as I think Cannibal Corpse are, I bet that even those guys have
talent somewhere. It's not like Metal Blade Records is as big as EMI - you
think they can afford to sign some truly clueless band? I bet even Haunted
Garage had some sort of talent (but maybe not since they didn't make a second
album. That's a hard one to call).
Now Maiden basically defined 1980s metal - you think that's talentless? Boring?
An entire decade of metal inspired by one band (not one band alone, but a lot
of rhythms and twin guitar orchestration and even singing was strongly
Maidenish - you can hear it in everything from Helloween to Unleashed).
I'd like to see you (Stacy) come up with a band that records or writes stuff.
It's so easy to brand someone you don't like as talentless but I want to see
you do better. (Yes, I have a band, we're writing, we're recording - maybe
we're not better than any of the bands I mentioned, maybe we suck more than
Cannibal Corpse does, but maybe not - at least we're doing something and making
our contributions to music besides a Beavis And Butthead "you suck" chant)

This is coming from a guy who nicknames himself "Kneel" ????
Megadeth doesn't have an off night.. see their live show.. they are
probably the best band at playing live.. almost all the tracks on
"Youthanasia" were recording in 1 take, and the whole band was playing
together...
You may have hit on something there. I find that I kind of like most of
the stuff that he trashes (Iron Maiden, Megadeth, etc...).

Apparently Mr. Nasacryst doesnt play guitar, let alone any Megadeth on
guitar. Anyone who does, (like me) immediately understands why they just
stand there. GO ahead and run around and play the solos of Holy Wars
note for note like they do in concert. To me the shows are about the music
and the vibe you get just from being there "live" with the band. I saw
them live last month and they were great. I have to agree with the
opinion that the vox were subdued (but i like guitar better anyhow)
ca...@erc.msstate.edu
Interesting enough, Slayer attributes the songs "Crionics" and "Face the
Slayer" (both on the Show No Mercy album) to Maiden influence. And if
you listen to both closely, you can hear some of the trademark Maiden rifts.
Maiden and Priest were very successful with the two guitarist (left channel/right
channel) setup which had influence on up-and-coming metal bands such as Slayer.
But Maiden was much MUCH heavier than Priest in the 1970s. Priest was quite
weak until circa 1980.
I agree with what's been posted there are here. You've got to understand that
these guys aren't airing it out in a video, where you can't hear the mistakes
they make. The solos and rhythms they play are so complex, it's a wonder they
are able to walk straight after doing a show.

I don't go to concerts to watch confetti fall. I don't like to see pyrotechnics blasting
all over--afterall, people get burned that way. I don't want dogs jumping through
hoops. I want the music played and played well. Megadeth are THE best at reproducing
their music.

After years and years of playing those songs, I bet they'd like to play a few off the new
ones, DUH. Beside, that's a third of their set right there. Of course they are going to
dwell more on the new stuff. That's what concerts in promotion of albums DO. How

Sorry to bust your bubble, But MEGADETH rythems are EASY... There
hardest (and best) stuff was on Holly Wars (which they play none of that
anymore).. Don't gimme this crap there music is complex.. You want
complex rythems and leads, Listen to carcass.. What billy steer does
is incredable, Take into fact that he is tuning all the way down to B
to Eflat such as megadeth.. Megadeth use 10 gauge strings, Steer
is using big ass custom 13 gauges..

Oh, come on! I saw Death live during their Individual Thought Patterns
tour. They were playing music much more complex than anything Megadeth
has ever done, and Death was much more interesting on stage. That
argument of yours doesn't mean anything. Megadeth has weak stage
presence, and they always have.
what's more, maybe they feel it's fucking DUMB to run around stage like
a moron when one can deliver a performance via stage presence and play the
material better, perhaps -- or perhaps put full energy into the instrument
instead of expending it all on stage antics. most of the most active stage
dudes, i've found, play shit exactly as it was on the album, sometimes a little
more sloppily. this doesn't apply to metallica, who were amazing in concert
for headbanging while playing pretty difficult shit.
