Finally, an intelligent post in this NG, very rare. Seems this NG has
become nothing but a place for christians and anti-christians to argue.

And don't forget the people who just fuckin' complain about it. Oh,
sorry, that's you, isn't it... ;)

Well, I'm dissing him for being into Stryper because it is music for
TOOLS and we have all known that for a long time.
Bear with us on the debates -- their asses are kicked!

Politics? Good music should be political, whether it be Personal
Politics or the Politics of your country.
I hear Emperor, Burzum and Carcass and I hear POLITICS. (Or is that
just me?).
Christian Metal was created ONLY FOR THE SOLE REASON for 'winning'
back 'souls' that had been 'stolen' by those naughty SAtanistic heavy
metal mercants! If thats not Political, then what is?
Evert time Stryper opened their mouths, either effluent or dogma
spewed forth. Consumate politics ......

It's hard to tell what definition of politics you're using, but I'd
say it's just you. But if you mean their personal resentment against
the political state of their world, well, yes that seems abundant.

Utterly political, and even more so, herd-logic.

They are utter whores. Too bad crosses were too hard to find!

That may be the funniest thing I've heard all week.

Well I don't agree entirely....I think good music CAN be
political..examples:
Slayer: Manditory Suicide, Dittohead, War Ensemble, Silent
Scream, Blood Red, Expendible Youth, Hallowed Point,
Ghost of War
Death: Suicide Machine, Altering the Future
Bolt Thrower: just about the entire "...For Victory" album
Morbid Angel: Dawn of the Angry ("What's so foreign in my sights")
Carcass: Generation Hexed and others I can't remember the name
of offhand
Ministry: NWO, Thieves, Faith Colapsing, Hero, Land of Rape
and Honey
&c.
: I hear Emperor, Burzum and Carcass and I hear POLITICS. (Or is that
: just me?).
Where the hell do you get it from Emperor? All I pick up from
Emperor is occult references.
: Christian Metal was created ONLY FOR THE SOLE REASON for 'winning'

Interesting story: one time I took "The Yellow And Black Attack"
on vinyl and played the fourth track backwards. The fourth
track was entitled "You Know What To Do" and you can guess
the message: "Turn to Jesus and your problems will magically
go away." The chorus was:
if you're feeling lonely
if you're feeling bloooooooooooooo
(something)
you know what to do
yes you dooooo... (copyright Stryper 1984)
I played it backwards at that point (the first chorus) and
heard "worship satan."
I had a lot of fun with it. I went backwards and forewards
and recorded the sound on a casette tape, "worship satan,
yes you do, worship satan, yes you do." My dorm counselor
at the time, an UltraFundie (TM), listened to the tape
in his portable stereo that he modified especially to
listen for subliminal messages on "satanic" albums. The
look of distress that was on his face, upon realizing
that the tape was genuine, was *priceless*. I wish
I still had that cassette. If you have Stryper on vinyl,
why don't y'all try it out, see if you get the same thing?

thats true...i think what this person was saying was based on the
"personal philosophies" of various band members...the nihilistic fascism
of someone like Faust, etc etc...i'm not saying anything...i think
politics in music is great...:) better than religion...

I don't consider 1, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7 or 8 political; they touch on
political topics but I think are more "social" e.g. less active in
politics than in "common sense."
>Death: Suicide Machine, Altering the Future
About anything from Spiritual Healing...
>Bolt Thrower: just about the entire "...For Victory" album
I wouldn't consider that political, actually...it's much better than
that.
>Morbid Angel: Dawn of the Angry ("What's so foreign in my sights")

I'm not familiar with this stuff but didn't want to just sweep it
under the rug...
>Ministry: NWO, Thieves, Faith Colapsing, Hero, Land of Rape

In a very abstract style; it's more that politics is part of their
collage.

Where in Burzum, also?
