I'm writing an article about individual experiences with the buying of
albums on or around their release dates. Specifically, I want to hear
from music lovers about any rituals they may have had that went along
with buying an album on or around its release date. Such a story could
be as simple as meeting a friend at a well-loved or remembered record
shop, buying the LP, and heading to a certain place to listen to it,
where XYZ happened. The ritual doesn’t have to be consistent for any
particular band or something like that. What did you do when you
finally picked up that album? Was there a friend you sought out to
experience the record together?
Did you pour yourself into the lyrics, get really high...? Was it a
romantic ritual for a certain record? Write to me about the build-up
of excitement prior to the date instead of what you did after you got
album---if you prefer. Was there something communal about the
experience..? I'm looking for personal accounts of rituals that went
along with buying albums, and they don't have to be wild, or unusual
at all. Feel free to write 2 to 3 paragraphs, as I would like to
include it in my article, which will appear in 'Perfect Sound Forever'
magazine.
Thank you,
Domenic
