Hello...
I am new to the newsgroups, so am not sure how this will post and/or
read, but...
Does anyone remember a Cleveland, Ohio, based band called The Michael
Stanley Band? I've been a loyal fan for nearly twenty years, and have
followed Michael's endeavors since...he is currently afternoon
'drive-time' dj for Cleve's classic rock station, WNCX, married a little
over a year ago to Mary McCrone(which now makes him Wayne Newton's
brother-in-law, sort of, as Mary's sister is the MRS. Newton), started
doing solo work again after a year or so performing with The Ghost Poets
in and around Cleveland(a band comprised of former MSB bandmates Jonah
Koslen, Bob Pelander and new co-vocalist, Jennifer Lee).
Two years ago I was able to meet him personally while I was living in
the Cleveland area, and last year I caught a rare Michael Stanley "Then
and Now" concert at the ultimate outdoor showcase, Blossom...it was
fantastic seeing everyone 'together' again (with the exception of Daniel
Pecchio, Rick Bell, Kevein Raleigh and Danny Powers...), and hearing
"Midwest Midnight", "Nothing's Gonna Change My Mind", "Let's Get The Show
on The Road", "Why Should Love Be This Way"(!!!!!) and, of course,
"Lover"(another !!!!!!) live again was beyond words....
I'm setting up the MSB 'home page' on the web, and was interested in
hearing from other MSB/Ghost Poets/Michael Stanley fans...anyone out
there?

I, too, enjoyed a few Michael Stanley Band records in the '70s. He seemed
to be a bit too Springsteen for mass market tastes, but I could understand
the local fan enthusiasm he had in the midwest. I'm glad to hear he's
still active, happy, and respected.

Yes, I'm a big MS fan, and he's got a new album coming out in April
from what I read on the web.

Too Springsteen?? Listen to more if you get a chance, there is barely
a resemblance.

I love "(This is) My Town." Why did they fade out the excellent
vocals at the ending?

Duane...was that really necessary? You're not one of "those" who simply
hang around newsgroups slamming vague insults because you a.)want to
'start' a fight or b.)need to give your wilted ego a boost by leaping into
a 'group' and saying anything that comes off the top of your head?
Braitman made a polite 'observation' indicating MSB was not too his
tastes(NO BASHING)--Chilnik responded(again, politely) that he felt there
was no comparison(which, in any case, is a FACT, not an opinion--still NO
BASHING)...You, however, added 'nothing' to this 'discussion' of MSB: you
simply jumped in like a loud twelve year old with NOTHING to say but
BAD...I like Bruce Springsteen, too, but would NEVER BASH another artist
in his favor.
It's childish, immature, and plain unlikeable of you. Please find a
"Springsteen RULES" group, or--better yet--a crowded teen chat room--
where you can do this to your (little) heart's content.
As to talent, you've apparently NEVER listened to any of Michael
Stanley's work, which encompasses over 14 albums over twenty years, and
CAN STILL sell-out EVERY Ohio-area venue he plays. He may not have been
lucky enough to gain the international acclaim Bruce did (read Bruce's OWN
WORDS in a recent interview concerning "luck being a bigger variable than
talent in 'making it'"!!), but Michael must have done something right.
So please, if you can't say anything constructive, then just don't say
anything. This is not a flaming debate, and if that's what you're inclined
to be a part of, then find a group more to your interests. Thank you.

Nice job Mr. Shea...those morons are so irritating. Anyway, have you
(or anyone else) gotten the new Stanley album? It's GREAT!! I didn't
like the Ghost Poets album, but this is more midtempo- pseudo late 70s
Stanley. I love "Talking in Tongues", "After Hollywood" and "Terms of
Surrender". Great comeback, and I hope it catches on somewhere. Not
bad for Wayne Newton's brother-in-law!
