I thought there was something wrong - I just couldn't help myself.
I've listened to this track now on many occasions and something just
wasn't RIGHT. So, I pulled out a copy of the same version of the same
song, but from a bootleg cd. The b side of the 12'' of the 'For Those
About To Rock single.
The Backtracks version is timed at 7:31......the SAME version on the
bootleg cd weighs in at.......11:24...........now THAT is what I call
some serious editing.......especially as IMHO this is the definitive
version of Let There Be Rock with Brian on vocals.
And yet they leave the mediocre 13:22 version of Jailbreak in it's
entirety, later, on the same disc! Once again, these people couldn't
organise a piss up in a brewery.

I noticed that too. Although it isn't as criminal as the hatchet job done on
Rosie to fit it onto the IYWB album.
Also, on the deluxe boxset, you get original versions of IALWTTT, DDDDC, and
ANF(WRTBAM). Now, I know dirty deeds and aint no fun have been edited for
later versions of CD's, but whats the difference with long way? AFAIR the
versions of this were the same on my TNT vinyl, EMI/Alberts pic CD etc....

Good point Tom - I can't see the difference with IALWWTTT either! But,
I did go back to the 7'' of 'For Those About To Rock....and lo &
behold....the b side version of LTBR is THE version chosen for
Backtracks!........but I'd still rather have the longer version of it,
than the 13:22 'boom - tish' of Jailbreak, anyday!
