The following are two press releases issued by
B'Tselem on November 19, 1996
BEATINGS AND DEGRADATION OF PALESTINIANS:
ROUTINE RATHER THAN UNUSUAL OCCURRENCES
B'Tselem maintains that the beatings of Palestinians
by Border Police officers broadcast last night on the
Israeli evening news are unique only in that a
photographer was present at the scene and filmed the
incident.
Beatings and degradation of Palestinians by Police and
Border Police are common. In B'Tselem's report published
in September, "Beatings, Maltreatment and Degradation of
Palestinians by Police during June-July, 1996," ten such
incidents were described, and they are only a sample from
the large number of similar cases about which human
rights organizations are aware. The characterization
by Israeli officials of these incidents as "exceptions"
is only an attempt to minimize a serious and troublesome
situation about which B'Tselem and other human rights
organizations have repeatedly warned.
The B'Tselem report also refutes the contention that the
recent beatings are a response to the events of September,
as the B'Tselem report deals with events that occurred in
June and July.
Both in the incident which was photographed and in over
half of the cases in B'Tselem's report, Palestinians who
enter Israel without permits are beaten and sent back to
the Occupied Territories without being prosecuted. This
raises the suspicion that there is an unwritten policy
of using violence and humiliation rather than prosecution
of the offenders. In any event, the authorities have
clearly adopted a policy to disregard this widespread
phenomenon.
B'Tselem urges the Israeli government to end, once and
for all, the policy of violence against Palestinians,
whether this policy is implemented with the authorities'
formal approval or by their utter disregard of its
existence.

MILITARY COURT IN JAFFA: VALUE OF A PALESTINIAN'S LIFE

Yesterday the Jaffa military court gave its verdict in the
case of the four undercover soldiers who had been accused
of negligently causing the death of Iyad Mahmud 'Awal
Amali. The court rejected the plea bargain, proposed by
the prosecution and defense, which provided that the
defendants would be sentenced to a conditional sentence of
30 days for a period of one year, and imposed on each of
the defendant's a fine of one agora.
B'Tselem contends that the judgment, the judges'
statements, and the position taken by the prosecution
indicate an intolerable forgiveness, inconsistent with the
rule of law, of the judicial system in cases where
Palestinians are killed.

More than before:
Amnesty International released a statement on April 22
detailing the use of torture by Israeli occupation forces
and urging Israel to implement the UN Convention Against
Torture which it ratified in October 1991.
Beatings to the genitals, sleep deprivation and hooding
are used by Israel's main internal intelligence agency,
the General Security Service, as well as police on
thousands of detainees, Amnesty said.
Position abuse, where jailersmade prisoners stand
handcuffed to the wall or bound them to childsize chairs
for periods, are also common.
"We believe that either the official guidelines for
interrogation ultimately endorse torture or illtreatment,
or Israeli officials have extensively violated such
guidelines with impuity," the London-based human rights
group said in a statement.
Police and ministry of justice investigations into the
GSS security service, which reports directly to the prime
minister, were slow and secretive and violated the
International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights, the
statment added.
The director of Israel's Government Press Office, Uri
Dromi, denied that the army systematically tortured
Palestinian prisoners, but said that "I would expect our
investigators and security people to use any measure to
get the information to prevent atrocities."

to prevent atrocities. How quaint!]
Adult political detainees from Gaza and the West Bank
are at most risk, because they are normally held without
access to a judge for up to 18 days and are denied
contact with family and lawyers for even longer.
Guidelines for Israeli security services published in
1986 allow agents to use "moderate physical pressure."

In the last week, the Israeli High Court twice permitted
the Israeli secret police ("GSS") to continue to use
torture during their interrogations of Palestinian
detainees. On Friday, 11/15/96, the High Court approved
increasing the severity of torture used against Muhammed
Hamdan a student from Bir Zeit University. The court
deferred to the secret police's argument that Hamdan
falls under the "ticking bomb" category - that the
torture is necessary to avert the loss of lives -
despite the fact that Hamdan has been in Israeli custody
for more than four weeks. Incredibly, Justice Cheshin
rebuked Hamdan's defense lawyer as immoral for petitioning
the High Court to stop the torture.
In another High Court decision yesterday, Justices
Michael Cheshin, Dalia Dorner and Eliezer Goldberg,
permitted the secret police to continue to deprive Khader
Mubarek of sleep and to cover his head continuously with a
rancid sack. In this case, the court refused to issue a
temporary order to stop the other methods of torture used,
accepting the secret police's argument that the sack, the
handcuffs and the "particular positions" utilized
in Mubarek's interrogation were procedural to assure that
Mubarek won't escape, and not part of the "moderate
physical pressure" applied. Deprivation of sleep for five
days continuously was not considered torture by the High
Court. Mubarek has also been in Israeli custody for over
month. During the entire interrogation period so far in
which torture has been used against Mubarek and Hamdan,
the secret police has not elicited any evidence from either
of them regarding an imminent attack.
Under Israeli regulations, certain forms of torture are
legal; others are legal only after the GSS head approves
their application. Within Israeli legal discourse, the
automatically- legal torture methods are termed "moderate
physical pressure". This moderate pressure includes tying
up interrogees in twisted positions for up to five days
continuously, denying sleep for days, covering detainees'
heads with thick rancid sacks for days, light body-shaking,
placing the detainee in a small windowless cell for weeks,
playing blaring music 24 hours a day. Almost every
Palestinian interrogee is tortured in this manner. Judges
permit this torture routinely by extending the interrogation
and not issuing prohibitions. Other more intense torture
methods including severe body-shaking, require the approval
of the head of the secret police - GSS. A special
ministerial committee of the Knesset, made up of
representatives from the Meretz, Labor and Likud parties,
has routinely approved since 1994, the license to the GSS
head to order more intense forms of pressure.
On Sunday, the Israeli military court fined four Israeli
undercover unit agents one cent for accidentally
assassinating the wrong Palestinian in 1993. Iyad Mahmoud
Awad Badran, 19 years old from Qabalan, Nablus was murdered
on November 13, 1993 by Israeli undercover units while
riding in taxi. The court's decision overturned a plea
bargain reached between the state and the undercover
agents' lawyer in which the units were to spend 24
hours in prison as their sentence.
LAWE- The Palestinian Society for the Protection of Human
Rights and the Environment deplores the High Court's
decision sanctioning the use of torture. Under all
international standards and the Torture Convention -to
which Israel is a signatory- the prohibition against
torture is absolute with no exceptions.

What I post is very relevant because it proves that some Jews do not
speak truth in relation to the historical perspective. Debating the
Holocaust is good but it must be viewed from the perspective of what
Jews were doing in Europe at the time that promoted such an event. Most
people don't know of all the little commie trolls running around doing
nasty acts to other people. My purpose is to show the "victims" do not

Dishonouring Christian religious symbols is an old
religious duty in Judaism. Spitting on the cross,
an especially on the Crucifix, and spitting when a
Jew passes a church, have been obligatory from
around AD 200 for pious Jews. In the past, when the
danger of anti-Semitic hostility was a real one,
the pious Jews were commanded by their rabbis either
to spit so that the reason for doing so would
be unknown, or to spit onto their chests, not actually
on the cross or openly before the church. The
increasing strength of the Jewish state has caused
these customs to become more open again but there
should be no mistake: The spitting on the cross for
converts from Christianity to Judaism, organized in
Kibbutz Sa'ad and financed by the Israeli government
is a an act of traditional Jewish piety. It does not
seize to be barbaric, horrifying and wicked because
of this! On the contrary, it is worse because it is
so traditional, and much more dangerous as well, just
as the renewed anti-Semitism of the Nazis was
dangerous, because in part, it played on the
traditional anti-Semitic past.
This barbarous attitude of contempt and hate for
Christian religious symbols has grown in Israel. In
the 1950s Israel issued a series of stamps
representing pictures of Israeli cities. In the
picture of Nazareth, there was a church and on its
top a cross - almost invisible, perhaps the size of a
millimeter. Nevertheless, the religious parties,
supported by many on the Zionist "left" made a scandal
and the stamps were quickly withdrawn and replaced by
an almost identical series from which the microscopic
cross was withdrawn.
Then there was the long-drawn-out battle about
Christian influence in elementary arithmetic. Pious
Jews object to the international plus sign for it is a
cross, and it may in their opinion, influence little
children to convert to Christianity. Another
"explanation" holds; it would then be difficult to
"educate" them to spit on the cross, if they become
used to it in their arithmetic exercises. Until the
early 1970s two different sets of arithmetic books were
used in Israel. One for the secular schools, employing
an inverted "T" sign. In the early '70's the religious
fanatics "converted" the Labour Party to the great
danger of the cross in arithmetic, and from that time,
in all Hebrew elementary schools (and now many high
schools as well) the international plus sign has been
forbidden.
Similar development is visible in other areas of
education. Teaching the New Testament was always
forbidden, but in the old time conscientious teachers
of history used to circumvent the prohibition, by
organizing seminars or sending the students to
libraries (not the school libraries, of course).
About 10 years ago there was a wave of denouncing
such teachers. One in Jerualem was almost sacked, for
advising her history pupils, who were studying the
history of Jews in Palestine around 30-40 AD,
that it would be a good thing if they would read a
few chapters of the New Testament as a historical
aid. She retained her post only after humbly
promising not to do this again.
However in recent years, anti-Christian feelings are
literally exploding in Israel (and among Israel-
worshipping Jews in Diaspora too) together with the
increase of the Jewish fanaticism in all other areas
too.
The real enemies of truth here, as in many other
aspects of the Israel reality, are the socialists,
"liberals", "radicals", etc. in the USA. Imagine the
reaction of the US Liberals, and of such papers as
The Nation and New York Review of Books, not to speak
of the New York Times if in any state whatsoever, the
government financed spitting on a Star of David? But
when here in Israel, the government finances the
spitting on a cross, they are and will continue to be,
quite silent. More than this, they helpt to finance
it. United States taxpayers, who are of course mostly
Christians, are finacing at least half the Israeli
budget, one way or another, and therfore the spitting
on the cross too.
Professor Israel Shahak is an Israeli citizen,
former concentration camp inmate during WW II,
and the founder of Israel's Human Rights League.
His new book "Jewish History, Jewish Religion"
about Jewish hatred and contempt toward Gentiles,
is highly recommended.

the Russian Bolshevik party:

ever denied what you call the "holocaust". I defy you. I have never said
any such thing- I have questioned some of your side's "facts" such as
