Well Christianity used art for centuries to bring the gospel to those
who could not read, many English churches, have a series of paintings
from christs birth to his death,
Huge stained glass windows, show the lives of saints. wonderfull art and
done by master. and it was all done for the sake of religion. perhaps
not by the artists directly as they would have been commisioned, by a
noble or a Religiouse,
if you look in a Pagan shop, their are many prints and cards, of
entitys, Gods, Goddess, ect.
There romans used wonderfull mosaics, and wall painting, the Egyptians
to, Art and Religon have always gone hand in hand from the earlies cave
paintings, untill now.

I really do believe there is. When I create something it comes from my
soul, and is a total expression of what I'm feeling and who I am. It is
the most honest form of myself -- even the working/doing when creating
an art or a craft falls into a ritual of self-expression and extension to
others. It is so hard to explain how I feel when I'm creating something,
especially when part of the reason for actually doing it is to bring
pleasure for someone else -- maybe you could call it 'soul talking'.
Where I hope that what I make touches someone else deep inside.
As for meeting my own needs, I find it enhances good feelings about myself
and the all; and I find there is a very strong connection to the universe.
It's almost like I venture into the all, and come back to express what
I've felt, thought, seen. But then, those feelings and thoughts expand
into creating who I am and how I live; and what I desire to be -- the
creation is not just in the object, its also in me.

True art offers man the ability to raise his spiritual perception. If,
through the color and tone of a work of art, one penetrates to its
spiritual basis with thought and feeling then the impulses that the ego
receives work down to the lowest part of man's nature.
This is the reason that meditation on mandala's work.
