All these companies that have recently sprouted
like weeds that claim to offer protection for
your identity, like "Identity Guard", are scams.
Ripoffs.

They claim to have an army of robots/spiders
(the kind of software that google and other search engines
use to gather data from websites.) that are out searching
for the illegal use of your identity.

Bullshit.

Anyone using your ID to conduct a business transaction
of any kind is going to be using a secure (https) encrypted
connection. And the data will be encrypted before it is
stored in the databases the websites use.

The supposed identity protection companies have no way
to access those communications or the data retained by
the webserver.

If they could, it would be criminal.

It's not all about these scams being a waste of money.
You are actually dangerous: You are giving all of your
personal information to people who are obviously
dishonest and are probably avoiding the cost of
adequately protecting your personal information.

As for their offer of a million dollars if they
screw up? No one will ever collect it. And their
supposed teams of enforcers that they will supposedly
send out to protect your identity? What a joke. There
isn't anything they could do even if they existed.
