It's not nice to laugh at dead people. ;-

More seriously, it appears to me we forget how different a thing magic
is in a world where we have every confidence in the efficacy of the
laws of physics than it is in a world where things mechanical retain
an aura of mystery. The world is indeed "demon-haunted" for many, and
the compratively recent rejection of the scientific mindset (but not
the implements of destruction) of the West by some African and Eastern
cultures makes those "demons" much stronger.

Blessed Be,

Ok...is it just me here or is this really stupid? I mean, who would
ever truly think to do something like this??? Granted, I haven't read
the article because for some reason it's not coming up on my
computer...but the sound of it is just...

*sigh*

Is it really any different than the Christian thing where they play
with poisonous snakes and believe they'll survive because God will
protect them? This sort of thing exists in every religion/culture, I
reckon...or rather, the type of people who would attempt such things.

Yeah, but still you would think that if someone were to work a spell and
then test it that they would do something a little less deadly. I mean,
was he testing the spell or his power? There are safer ways to test
magick.

*Remembers her first spell. A healing spell for her mother that worked
extremely well.*

Amen - I snorted laughingly when I read that, but it wasn't a second before
I felt guilty and sorry for the poor guy...
