JUDGEMENT 45

FORTY FIVE -- Ex 23:13 … and make no mention of the name of other gods, neither let it be heard out of thy mouth.

My comments:

Don`t remember any other gods – don`t keep their feast days to remember them every year. The time is coming when pagan and heathen feasts and remembrances will be forgotten:

Zechariah 13:2 And it shall come to pass in that day, saith the LORD of hosts, that I will cut off the names of the idols out of the land, and they shall no more be remembered : and also I will cause the prophets and the unclean spirit to pass out of the land.

The word for “god” used here is just “elohim” which is also used for the one true God.

The Hebrew word “elohim” just means “god”, and it could refer to the one supreme true God of Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, Moses and Jesus. Or, as it is used here, it can mean gods which are not the one true god.

The word “god” in English could be used to refer to pagan gods – I won`t mention their names, but we all know the days of our week are named after them.

Similarly the word “allah” in Arabic is just simply the Arabic word for “god”. It could certainly predate the giving of the Koran, and could refer to pagan gods. Also it can refer to the one true God as it does in the Koran: -- for example:

Here Moses talks about the “commandments of your Lord” and he obviously means the one true God – the God of Abraham, Isaac, Ishmael and Jacob:

"What a terrible thing you have done in my absence! Could you not wait
for the commandments of your Lord?" He threw down the tablets, and
took hold of his brother's head, pulling him towards himself. (Aaron)

almost killed me. Let not my enemies rejoice, and do not count me with
the transgressing people."

Here is a reference to the Creator – the one God who created the heavens and earth in six days, and then rested on the seventh day – this is the same God who is worshipped by Jews and Christians:

days,* then assumed all authority. The night overtakes the day, as it
pursues it persistently, and the sun, the moon, and the stars are
committed to serve by His command. Absolutely, He controls all
creation and all commands. Most Exalted is GOD, Lord of the universe.

This one supreme God is a different person from “Yahweh” of the Old Testament who became flesh in the person of Jesus Christ - a holy spirit, and bearing the title “the son of god”. The supreme God is the father of the Word whom he created by a command, not a physical begettal. The supreme God is THE God who could have wiped out Christ when he was on earth if he so willed, and he is greater than Christ. Christ is god, but not THE (one and only) supreme God who will one day put all things under Christ`s feet, except, of course, himself.

Whether we say “allah”, “god” or a similar word in any other language – it could refer to the true God, or a pagan one. In the Arabic bible for example, John 3:16 reads “for allah so loved the world he gave his only begotten son” … and we all know this is just the word for god – the same god we worship.

When the Koran is translated into English, “allah” is usually just translated “god”, and rightly so.

What makes a person an enemy of God is what they think – do they hate God and his laws? Do they want to oppose God in what he plans to do? Do they want to annihilate God and his people?

There may well be evil people among the muslims who think this way, as there are also in all nations. And there are those who do not think these evil thoughts.

The day is coming when our language will be purified of anything which may offend:

Zephaniah 3:9 For then I will give the people a clean language, so that they may all make prayer to the Lord and be his servants with one mind. (BBE)
