I saw an ad in a Clearwater newspaper for Mace-Kingsley, a place that
offers "counseling services tailor-made to bring out the best in your
children. Thousands of satisfied clients have made us the largest
field group in the world." [whatever that means]

Call Fedi or Jeff at Mace Kingsley today, and gives a Clearwater phone
number.

Okay, then in the Classifieds section of the same paper, this
employment ad:

"Mace-Kingsley is looking for a Purif In-Charge. We will pay to train
you if you are the right person for the job. Please call Diana..."etc.

Does this mean they're giving the Purif to children?

sounds like it and this should be investigated by the local children's
protection service - IMMEDIATELY. The purif is dangerous and applied to
children even more dangerous as children's bodies dehydrate faster than
adults and mega doses of vitamins will most assuredly cause serious harm.

Children's bodies do not function the same way adult bodies do nor do
they react the same to the same treatment - no child should be in a
sauna for more than 10 or 15 minutes and certainly not at a high
temperature.

The purif is medically unsound at any age but for children amounts to
nothing but child abuse.

But some are more guilty than others.

Some children chew telexes, you know, when they are climbing ship's
ladders.

This is just disgusting - does anyone know who the proper persons are to
report this abuse? It must be stopped - this program is absolutely
dangerous esp. to children whose bodies have not stopped growing.

I am gob smacked!

Me too. We need a Floridian version of Vince Daniels to get involved. If
the authorities won't do their job, the media can shame them into it.

I just phoned social services in Florida, at first they said there
was nothing they could do but after I talked to a supervisor he took
the complaint. They are surpost to look into any complaint within 72
hours.

Why did they initially state there was "nothing they could do?"

Because I called the hotline. The guy thought they could only take
reports about parents hurting their kids. The supervisor was confused
also but took the report.

Good on ya for calling! Did you get a contact name/number/address people
can write or call? This definately needs some focus.
It's so much more important than arguing over a stupid movie, wouldn't
you agree?

I got the number of the person who answered the phone and had to bitch
to get that. I am going to follow that up with a cal to whoever gave
them a license. These people have a history that needs looking into.
They ran a ranch for out of control kids at one point. Sounds like a
scientoloyg kiddy prison from the sound of it. And yep, more useful
than fghting over that moive.

Thanks Jerald - I tried to find something online but was not able to as
the only form there is geared to specific incident. Got the snail mail
address and am in the process of putting some info together but it could
take a while to get there from Canada. This is an IMPORTANT issue that
cannot be ignored - if there is any way else we can help let us know

Mace-Kingsley School has quite a little history of abuse. You might want
to collect a little sample of such via Google. I seem to recall that the
Leona Valley site in Cali MAY have been M-K at one time and was forced
to close down due to abuses.

At the moment, Florida is a bit sensitive about abusive programs for
problem kids. Seems that denying medication and beating them to death
hasn't been working.

I'm going to focus on the rundown part. This can't be healty for kids
to do. Last year this place made 1,700,000 dollars with 25 people
working for them. Thats a boatload of brainwashing income.

Here's the online form for the Florida Dept of Children and Families
link

http://www.dcf.state.fl.us/abuse/report/

Here's the toll free hotlline,
-800-96ABUSE (962-2873)

They didn't want to listen to me and tried to tell me I didn't meet
the guildlines for taking a report. But as long as you fear a child
can be harmed by someone in charge of him they have to. I told them
this is a clinic where kids are made to do the rundown. It's not by
choice. They take a lot of kids who are having problems. I am
trying to find out who licenses them in Florida and the county they
are in. I am going to complain there also.

You are right, this can't be ignored. We are not talking about
adult's who make a bone headed decision to join. We are talking about
kids how have no choice.

This may be another place to write or call. I'm checking with some
friends who work in social services for other contacts:

Florida Suncoast region Dept of Children and Families:
9393 N. Florida Avenue
Tampa, FL 33612
(813) 558-5900

This office covers six counties, including Pinellas (where Clearwater
is) and Hillsborough (which has the 9th largest school district in the
country).

By the way: it looks like the location for this proposed Narconon facility is the former
site of Mace Kingley Ranch, the Scientology reform school for "troubled" kids, a.k.a. the
"Little Ranch of Horrors". The property is currently owned by Church of Scientology
Religious Trust.

California recently passed more stringent staffing requirements for rehab facilities;
based on the number of clients, they have to have a certain number of certified staff with
specific training.

But in 1974 the US Senate published a study which accused The Seed of using methods which
it likened to Communist brainwashing techniques. Besides this unwanted bad-press, The Seed
was having other difficulties. The Senate was cracking down on NIDA in its consideration
of a request from Barker for another cool million to expand his services throughout
Florida. The Senate had told NIDA that Barker was doing human experimentations and that
NIDA's own regulations required the people being experimented upon to sign statements of
consent.

Kids who were there and long out reported a considerable amount of
abuse as well.
