Gavin tells young children (ages 13 usually and on up) that the end of the
world is coming, and that their parents are going to starve to
death.............so they need to join the Sea Org and save the world.
Sounds almost funny, huh? Who would believe it?? Well, try about 10 kids that I
knew....including my son for one day. He was smart,and got out fast. Many
ended up with HUGE Sea Org debts.
How does that work? Well, Gavin scares them into joining. Soon after they are
worked to death and they decide "hey..........this isn't what he made it sound
like. I want out." OH NO, Charlie~ You signed a BILLION YEAR contract! So
there is just this little thing called Sec Checks that we need to do on you.
Often thousands of dollars later, the child is kicked out, with a debt
owed....now he cannot ever get more services until he pays off his or her debt.
Don't mind that he or she is underage and cannot work as well as now they have
this stigma of being:
Ex- SEA ORG....yuk! Some W.I.S.E. (the second biggest scam) companies won't
even hire ex-S.O.
So, again...if a "nice" young man comes to talk with your child, named Gavin
Potter, RUN FOR THE HILLS,,,,,or get out your shot guns. However you handle it,
know they cat should (should) be put behind bars for the trauma he has caused
many a young person.

Unless the child in question is an emancipated minor, any contract that
s/he might sign and any so-called "freeloader" debt are void. Minors are
legally unable to make a contract. *And* if the SO tries to be legal by
having the parent(s) sign the contract as well, all that means is that the
*parent(s)* will be responsible for the contract if the minor defaults.
Sea Org children need to know this, that they are NOT hemmed in by a
billion-year contract *or* freeloader debts.
In fact, Scn knows this. Some Scn obituaries have talked about how the
deceased one is now taking 21 years "vacation" from the SO. They know they
can't enforce a contract like this on a minor.

In addition, these two concepts have no effect other than to deprive
people from exercising constitutional rights, i.e., freedom of speech and
the pursuit of happiness. They do this by creating non-physical, but very
real bonds of fear. Both of these standard Scientology agreements have the
same effect as does the exertion of force, even though both are
technically voluntary.
If someone feels a necessity to give Scientology a pile
of money which it will then use to stalk critics, that is their own
business, and not a legal consequence of a "freeloader's debt."
On the other hand, if you want to pay off your freeloader's debt by
posting to a.r.s., you are 100 percent entitled to do so.

Well, obviously not. But it might be interesting in a few years to see if
any PCs claim to be high ranking deceased Scns. (If there are any such
people, besides LRH.)

Gavin Potter does use scare tactics to get children to join the SO. There was a
policy written by LRH in 1970 that stated something like "Planet Earth will no
longer be able to support human life in 30 years". He would show this to
children and then say that the life of Earth has only been slightly lengthened
because of the Sea Org. He would also read them some space
opera crap written by LRH to scare them into joining.
But this wasn't the only tactic he would use. Most of the children or young
people he recruited were girls. He recruited them by flirting with them. He is
a youngish good looking guy, so this worked. He recruited about 70 + people for
Bridge Publications, Inc. which is a Sea Org org. It was known that David
Miscavige had said to a new female recruit "then you are one of the Bridge
Babes?".
Additionally, Gavin was married to a young pretty girl who used to work in CMO
in the LRH Life Exhibition. She got pregnant in 1995? and this was when people
who were pregnant were sent to Class V Orgs. They were sent to Valley Org, but
he later left her and the baby to go back to the Sea Org proper to be a
recruiter. He also had a previous wife who had a child who he divorced and
stayed in the Sea Org. Does deadbeat dad apply here or what?

You're right, Scientologists do feel the weight of these debts more than
any other debts they incur. Certainly those Scientologists in Buenaventura
(Robert Cefail, Michael Zetner, Michael Haley, Brent Jones, Raul Valle and
Tom Steiner) feel it more than they felt the debt to Raul Lopez (see
http://parishioner.org/lopez.html). It's a shame that they are tricked to
believe that Freeloader Debt is legal and binding. What we do is to let
people know that Scientology is perpetuating a fraud when they try to
guilt somebody with their Freeloader Debt. And Scientology is perpetuating
a fraud when they have a kid sign a billion year contract.

Tory has a point, what people feel are debts does not necessary match up
with what are legal debts. Co$ culture enforces a lot of weird ideas
like freeloader debt on people.

Actually, being still new to the critics scene, you are probably
not aware that Deana has done quite a bit.
I hear your frustration . . .
but you have to realize that people who have ~NOT~ been in
the Co$ and experienced the mental and emotional damage to
their ways of seeing things through the Co$ created distorted
way of thinking cannot identify with what Hubbardites think
and feel . . .
anymore that those who ~HAVE~ been damaged by the Co$

Communication is the key.
Sadly, Hubbardites have trouble with communication because
as much as they may ~think~ Hubbard discovered the real "Tech"
