Hi folks. I am a newbie to ars but have been clicking around it for a
couple days trying to figure out who is primarily responsible for this
group and, accordingly, who I could email about this subject, if for no
other reason than possibly to locate old contacts.. I have personally
known many of the people who have (apparently old) listings on this
site (Vicki, Jerry, etc, etc.) but have not been in touch for years.
Can anyone clarify if anyone is "in charge" or does this thing just
have a life of its own?

No one is in charge. The newsgroup is fantastically alive in a sense.

Am I the guy you knew?

What?
Uhmmm...nobody's "in charge."

Some people have a higher profile than others.
Some people coagulate around a certain personality.
Some people are predatory enough to work with anyone to achieve a goal.
Some people are the thought-arrested victims of the "church" of Scientology.

Some people include an email address in their sig file.
You can contact those people.

Predatory. Gosh. No one's called me predatory before.

Welcome. We have no leader, no moderator. As far as emailing members, I
suggest you go with those who avail themselves by phone or email as
noted in their posts.

Don't listen to him. I'm in charge here. Send ME the money. I'll put it
to better use, plus my name is cuter.

I've also recently been identified as a nutcase by someone here. Yay!
That's gotta count for something. A nutcase, who takes medication like
my doctor tells me to, so that should show you I can be trusted. ;-)

Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhh k, I can see that communicating with this group is
going to be interesting lol It is clear that no one really is in charge
so, although I am the newbee here, I think I should be put in charge. I
feel I am qualified to be in charge for the following two reasons:

1) in third grade at Catholic school, Sister Lawrence told me I had the
moral backbone of a fish and was not worth the gun powder to blow me
because I was caught with two others swatting flies on girls' legs with
fly swatters made up of school paper; and

2) I have absolutely no idea what I am doing here, or even how to post
properly here. I was just trying to say "hi" to some old contacts.

Now if those are not top qualifications, I don't know what are!!!!

So what do you think? I could have some simple and humble title within
the ars. Maybe: "Supreme, High, Mystic Ruler"?

and...spitballs? notes passed in pens? Our crimes against humanity were
horrible back then.... and it's amazing we lived to tell about it.

Your nuns were tame compared to ours. I'm surprised you lived to type
this. I type with mangled fingers now, so forgive obvious typos and
misspelled words (the nuns did it with rulers). Oh well, any excuse
will do..... :-)

Surprising (maybe not) that so many Catholics end up here. I guess we
love to see a religion (cult) that's even weirder than ours is.

;-)

How about Sr. Mary Euphashia....one of my all time favorites.... but
many of the nuns I didn't even know their real nun names, only
nicknames. I wonder if they are posting on usenet now with those
nicknames. Bulldog, The Enforcer, The Board of Education, Wiggles, The
Terminator, Carol Barrel.

:-)

Welcome.

Thanks Barb and Becky:) lol Actually Sister Lawrence took me out into
the hall and started slapping me while holding me by my collar to the
wall. It's actually kind of funny in a twisted way lol I remember
Mother Germain storming down the hall towards us and me thinking "thank
Gawd, she will stop this". But when Sister Lawrence told her about me
swatting flies on girls' legs, they both started swinging. lol but true

I think I like your suggested name of Sister Mary Euphashia better than
my suggestion of "Supreme High Mystic Ruler" lol I will see if I can
change my signon here to "SME" for short right after I send this reply.

I now declare the voting for supreme ruler of ars closed! The finally
vote tally was:

A. For DenUser (soon to be named "SME" if I ever figure out how to do
that) - 1 vote (Barb);

B. 2000. or however many are on here, non votes from people on here who
could not care less about this!

I win!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My official policy is "whatEVER"!

Being here and communicating.

That's kind of taken by Xenu himself. You could be a loyal officer
though.

No, but I guess I should be glad she never got around to figuring that
out!

Good point Gerry lol Anyway I opted for Becky's suggestion and changed
by name on here to "SME".

OMG, on a rare serious note for me, the LAST thing this group needs is
a "leader". I don't know about you but I'm done with having "leaders",
at least with regard my own thoughts and spiritual awareness. I truly
believe everyone has their own "path" and what works to help one find
happiness and/or spiritual awareness for him/herself may not work for
another. My days of having to invalidate my own perceptions and
awareness to try to "conform" with what some "leader" says I need to
think are, I am glad to say, over:) To think there is only one reality,
one past, one path and one place to go in which to play, exist or even
be spiritually free is, to me, at best naive.

Now that you mention it, there is only one reality, and it wouldn't be
reality otherwise. There's no past actually. If there are paths, they
pretty well have to be irrelevant in that they go nowhere. And I'd
say there is only one place, and we're as spiritually free as we'll
ever be. We can't be free, and we can thank God we're not free. We're
not free, e.g., to separate ourselves from Him. Scientology was an
attempt to do so, and it doesn't work.

Gerry, IMHO, we unfortunately are free and able to separate ourselves
from the love of God., which is the same as separation from God ( God
is love), right? This is what sin does- it separates us and love
diminishes. We learned this in our confessionals, that omissions and
comissions cause people to withhold themselves from what they have
harmed. All Hubbard did was change the names and give some give names
to the mechanics. The result was that we became accountable to Hubbard,
and his auditors rather than the God that Adam and Eve hid from in the
first place. Those that call this an implant are clueless.

God never separates from us. Sin separates us from God. When we turn
from sin (and no one has to tell us what that is for us), we have
someone to look up to, to help us get back to what has separated us
from: God; He's the sinless man named Jesus Christ who carried his
cross and bore our collective sin so that we could become a new person
and live for eternity. The belief that he was the son of God, and that
he died so that we could live, requires nothing but an honest look at
truth. If it's not true for you, then it's not. But if it is, then that
is all that is required to bring anyone together with God. We believe
willingly and out of love. We already know the truth. The heart lets us
know. That is the home of the Holy Spirit which comes to us when we
acknowledge Christ as the way to God, while conquering the old man
within.

Sorry to preach but people need to know that we ARE born with the
freedom of choice; we just always want to be accountable until we make
the wrong choice. That phenomena is a result of that forbiddden fruit
fiasco the bible's Book of Genesis talks about. It's in our dna, this
Knowledge of Good and Evil, and we are subject to the downside of it
when we are turned away from God. Those apostles tried to tell people
to 'repent' (turn away) from sin 'for the kingdom of God is at hand'
and those who chose to turn to God found the kingdom while those who
didn't turn found no real peace of mind.

Forgiveness is a 2 way street and it can never be forced. I thank God
for truth. It sets us free. Despite the 'old man' within us, God gives
us a way out and a chance to be new in him, as he did Noah and all the
others who loved God.
