More seriously, I really never could get accustomed with that identity. I
hope that "JT" now doesn't mean anything!
I keep my silly email address so all of you who elected to killfile me don't
have to change anything.

JT,
you speak of "identity" and I think that you have a slight
misconception (and you share this with many here) about what a "nic"
actually represents.
The adoption of a nic can have many reasons, for instance I knew a
Japanese person whose last name was "Sakashita". Now obviously in
Japanese the name is just a name, but in English the surname can and
probably would be misconstrued.
Also the real name of a person might be nearly unpronounceable to
others outside of their cultural sphere. I must admit, when I see some
names from eastern Europe my first though is "buy a fucking vowel for
God's sake".
Another reason for adopting a nic is that the real name may be
associated with an ethnicity which might be mistakenly associated
negatively with the poster. An example here might be someone who has a
name like "Mahmoud" posting on a Christian forum. He might be
Christian himself, but the prima facie association would most
certainly be non-Christian.
Another reason may be to signify the reason for posting on that MB or
to document a position.
Sometimes it may be something as simple and trivial as the person not
liking any diminutive of their name.
Of course there is also the reason that a person adopts a nic for
reasons of anonymity.

Japanese names can be quite funny.
There was a guy called "kiakasemamoto" which in French means literaly "Who
broke my motorbike?".
Then there was this Japanese Prime Minister called "Nakasone" which in
French means "Just have to ring" - with jokes in France at the time of his
visit of "just have to pay" in reply of him presenting his credentials.
Now the current Prime Minister is not bad either... Fukuda... which even in
English may mean something nasty pronounced the wrong way ;-)

Yeah - I once had a Slovak girl friend (God, was she beautiful...) and she
would pronounce these with no problem at all...
In Asia nick names are used for the same reason. especially as they tend to
be cumulative and over long. The nick name may or not have a signification,
but often it does not. In Thailand an awful lot of people go with just a
letter, like E or O... and awful lot of them are called "lek" (meaning
small).

I guess so, like "scientology-is-a-cult" type of nick.

That would be my case. I wish I was a nobody.

Belated birthday bash for James Taylor at Tanglewood
07/05/2008 07:33:34 AM EDT
Saturday, July 05
LENOX — Suppose they gave a 60th birthday party for James Taylor and
nearly 20,000 people showed up, including an array of celebrity guests.
That was the surprise that greeted a cheering, whooping, swaying,
dancing-in-the-aisles audience at Tanglewood last night during the
second of two consecutive sellout performances with his 11-member
Legends Band.
In a closely-guarded secret, Team Taylor — led by his wife, Kim, now an
overseer of the Boston Symphony — had lined up a birthday bash for the
third hour of the concert. Taylor's actual birth date is March 12, but
given his deepening ties to the Berkshires since making his permanent
home a few miles from Tanglewood, and the availability of the guest
performers, the decision was made to stage the public celebration here.
Actor John Travolta, a family friend, bounced out on the stage during
Taylor's high-voltage performance of the Dixie Chicks' "Some Days You
Gotta Dance," arousing an outburst of cheering from the startled
audience.
Acknowledging the "night of birthdays" on July 4, Travolta quipped:
"Here we are with 20,000 of your closest friends; we want to tell you
how much we love you."
"The Travoltas were our guests for opening night last year, and they
just fell in love with Tanglewood," said Kim Taylor in a prepared
statement." <end/snip>

Does he still dance as his early Grease and Saturday Night Fever days?
You've managed to distract from the target of the Cult again.
Keep your off-topic shite to yourself please.
Stay on target, people.

You are a gay while male, age approximately 25, does not own a bicycle,
thinks emos are _so_ cute, does _not_ want to fuck either Drew Barrymore
_or_ Sigourney Weaver, actively learning moar about the internals of
the Internet so that you can hack moar, looks like Ern\nest Borgnign.

LOL! Travolta trying to change his imagine as an insane, sweaty cultist.

Hmm, quite imaginative at least :-) You made eleven assertions and I am
pleased to tell you that eight of these could be construed as true :-)
JT,
I only got two - does that make you four times better than me?
JT,
==========
So you do own a bicycle... OK ;-)
I do like Drew Barrymore a lot but really she just is not my type...
JT,
strike on the bike but I must confess a weakness for Sigourney Weaver.
By "does he still" if you mean dancing currently on the Screen I find no
indication that he is or going to be in future projects other than last
dancing on the Ellen DeGeneres TV show in 2007:

John Travolta Shakes Booty on Ellen (01:40)"
The 100% women in the audience scream at the prospect of dancing with
John reminding baby boomers of teens passing out by the millions
watching The Beatle's on "The Ed Sullivan Show". It's not fair. My
friend Marcolf of no-irc-undernet fame should be given a chance at
dancing on that show probably getting the same audience response if he
did his special tap-dance version of the Boogaloo. He certainly has the
leather duds to pull 'the shimmy' off. But no, John Travolta is a movie
star, so gets all the dancing perks with *placed&prepped* screaming fans
pretending not to be such as some sort of 'spontaneous reaction' pre
show setup to John dancing. And who said Ellen isn't 'sneaky' for bump
ratings ;-) Just one of the reasons why I hate television except for
CSpan/ The History channel; or as some prefer to call it; "The Hitler
channel", because of 500 WW2 Hitler docudrama's showing continuously
telescoping Hitler's 'women', 'fingernails', porcelain used/served at
the Berghoff, and the secret lives of his footmen grabbing a smoke when
not kissing the Fuehrer's boots at Wolf's Lair. There's even a show
outlining the life× of his dog, "Blondie". The entire world's
population should probably wear swastika's on their arms just to get The
History Channel to stop playing Hitler docudrama's as a respite from
Nazi's being continually thrown at them who want general history shows
not the German 9th army always being surrounded by the Russian pincer
front as a day to day TV event. True: my ears sometimes hurt from all
the artillery barrages shown on The History Channel making me turn the
volume down so as not to loose my hearing. I occasionally do this ...lol
Travolta dancing at Scientology Flag events (for one) doesn't really
qualify as 'professional' dancing work being more PR for whatever
'social concern' he's pushing at the time not part of his acting career
unless he's 'acting' all the time which wouldn't surprise me if that be
the case.

They should show this clip in Ex-Gay "Recovery" Camps. After watching
this, I've decided I have no interest in remaining homosexual. Thanks,
Defamer!
(Ugh. Does this mean I have to wear a baseball cap backwards and go out
in Brentwood now?) "
**
That should quiet all the people who think he's gay."
**
he is clearly very, very straight."
**
The only thing gayer than that clip is the 1989 porn classic "Power
Tools." And even then, only certain scenes are gayer than John Travolta
dancing."
**
...or a picnic basket."
**
He's tired of talking about that big masculine bike, ya'll...he just
wants to dance. Gay as a parade, bless his heart."
**
I love to watch you dance, Tony.
I love it. I love to watch you dance!
I just love it... Watching you dance.
I love to. I love to watch you dance!
I just love it. Watching you dance."
**
Another sign of the impending apocalypse..."
**
He is as gay as a goose, and it is hilarious how he is now trying to
cover up the world's most hideous hairplugs under his knit cap, but he
actually still has some Vinnie Barbarino in him! The guy has still got
some moves! "
**
Why doesn't he just come out? I'd love him so much more!"
**
So he's a bottom. Yet another query that the internets have answered
without me even asking."
**
Did that really get a standing ovation or was the studio audience lured
out of their seats by someone dangling meat above them? If the answer is
A, then riddle me this...Do those people actually vote?"
**
They make such a cute couple. Maybe they'll get married! I can't think
of ANY impediment on EITHER side."
**
...What?"
**
Ellen was the least gay thing about that clip."
**
And so marks the last time Travolta will ever be on Ellen. Nobody steals
Ellen's dance thunder. Nobody! "
**
Actually, the correct title is "Powertool".
Or so I heard . . ."
**
Which of them is the girl?"
**
I love how he sort of thinks about grinding with one of the women but
can't really bring himself to do it. Or maybe he's just dancing because
he's happy to be able to see his toes again."
**
it's actually the story of four leather daddies' musical romp through
the country's wildest S&M bars.
Now, I'd pay to see that."

But no dancing from what I can tell as dance 'intensive', for scenes, at
least. Maybe in the future he'll do another side-swiping shimmy with Uma
Thurman when their aging careers lull for another stab at Pulp Fiction
(part 2) when Quentin Tarantino at age 50 looks like a post-mortem
version of Dracula. His teeth certainly qualify right now for that Bella
Lugosi intensive job, imo.

You certainly do! Thanks for the With-hold. Your needle's floating.
Not on screen, just on stage, exactly as per this clip.
Thanks a lot - this answers my question. Well... It certainly is a far cry
from his early hit movies. It's so bad now it could be me :-)
