I received a post card in the mail from the Flag Ship Service Organization.
The subject is on the front of the card, along with the message "Special
Announcement on FSSO Donation Rates". This got my attention, not that I
have any desire to become a backdoor man though OT training. The thing
that got me was this, in small print on the flip side of the post card is
the rate hike info, "donation rates for the following FSSO services will be
increasing by 10% at midnight on the last day of each month starting
Septermber 30, 1997." I assume that the list of services is comprehenisve
of what FSSO provides. I presume that they are having a bit of a cash
flow problem, that 10% per month should screw them in the long (but, then
they'll just have a sale at that point), and bring a lot of cash in the
short term as dedicated lemings try to beat the price hikes. Operation
Foot Bullet continues. I guess they can never learn.

Hubbard did the same stunt with the monthly increases back in the 70's,
but as I recall it was 5% a month!

Could you post some of the current prices so we call revise the current
price of the "Bridge"?

Wow! Could you mention which services are meant, and could you send the
card to your favourite SP (not me) for scanning?

I don't have a current price list. The post card doesn't indicate the
new prices. It looks more like a threat to Scienos to get on the OT track.
I would guess that new prices lists are in the works. Heck, they'll need
a new one every month now. I guess the $360K to go OT has just gone up.
Probably by at least $15K.

It starts off with "All OT Hatting Courses," and continues on with a
list of specialized OT services. I'm sure others have received this card
as well. It is copyright 1997 CSFSSO, so I'm not inclined to scan it in,
or quote it in its entirity. Others may opt to though. The amount of
hard clam span has definitely gone up in the last several months. I take
this to mean that they are having cash flow problems.

At that rate, the $380,000 "bridge to total freedom" will be up to
$115,000,000 in five years.

The good news is, anyone can be an FSM!
FSM = 15% kickback on what people spend.
As i think about it, why haven't they raised the kickback on sales yet
to encourage more people to sell the stuff?

Does scientology offer the largest kickback of any "religion"?
Do other "religions" even offer a kickback on monies spent on someone
you get in the door? So many questions.....
"As an active scientologist, are my FSM commissions taxable?"

I guess that the person actually making the "donation" gets to write
this off on their taxes. The cult does not have to pay taxes on the
money received. But what about the 15% kickback in sales commissions,
is that taxable?

Can I be your FSM?

The price list we are talking about is not mailed out. It is for
staff use only. I have one for 1995. However, the one I have does
not cover the OT or NOTS prices or services.

Will a current monkey please send me a Flag price list for scanning.
Thank You.

Hey, good thinking Scientology! Raise your already outrageous rates
higher and make all your auditors go back for time consuming and expensive
retraining to retain your auditors certificates.

For math geeks:

If a course costs $10,000.00 and costs are increased 10% a month, what
will that course cost in 18 months?

Gosh guy! I don't know what to tell you... If you would have only
paid a few hours earlier... but it's a new month, so it's an extra
$5,000... But hey, you do want to go free don't you?
And trust me on this part... you don't want to wait until next month
to pay for it. One quick question, can i be your FSM?

Some funny boat.

Ten percent a month cost increases on FSSO sevices, on the heels of the
much ballyhooed 9th anniversary cruise. Is anyone besides me supposing
that the Floating Fool Factory might be in need of a major re-fit? Someone
should get the inspection logs (from the Coast Guard? Hmm. Something
tells me she's registered offshore).

Several years ago some WWII Merchant Marine veterans decided to fix up one
of the few remaining Liberty Ships in order to participate in the 50th
D-day anniversary events at Normandy... Ahh ... here it is, Project
Liberty Ship - the John W. Brown. The ship had been serving as a maritime
school ship (moored) in New York for many years and needed extensive
repairs. They spent nearly $600,000 plus untold hours of volunteer labor
to make her seaworthy, but alas it was not to be. After she was ferried to
drydock it was discovered that the hull plates and rivets were badly
corroded, and for safety reasons the CG would not authorize a transatlantic
voyage. An additional estimated $600,000 would have been required which
could not be raised. They did manage to obtain waivers to permit a limited
commemorative tour along the atlantic seaboard that summer. The last I
heard, they hope to keep the dream alive for the 75th D-day -- 2019.

A boat is a hole in the water into which one pours money. The bigger the
boat, the more money it takes to fill the hole. The Freewinds makes a
pretty big hole in the water. It has to cost $40-50,000 just to bunker a
load of fuel oil

Any bets? Will the Freewinds still sail under the command of Miscavige by
the time her tenth anniversary rolls around?

There are 3 holding companies keeping the SPs at bay regarding the Freewinds.
Sorry I can't recall the names off the top of my head at the moment.

Interestingly enough, when OT 8 came out it was something like only $1000 or
$1500 - I think now it must be approaching, what, $10,000? Anyone give me a
figure on it?

I find it hilarious that "donation" rates are going up. You've got a couple
hundred crew, who get room, board and maybe $30 week pay. Where is all that
extra money going??????

The rest of the USA is in an economic boom - apparently Scientology is not.
