Structure
by James Enfinger
Before there was the universe, there was God. God created the
universe, but it is
indubitably only one of his creations. When he created the universe, He
gave it strict laws, rules
that could not break. He gave it laws by which atoms reacted, he gave it
laws by which energy
conformed, and with these laws he created suns, and around them,
planets. And on one of the
planets, he created Life.
He created with this life, a being in His own image. A being that
had a Mind. We know
that It was created in His image, yet are His inferiors. This
Life-with-a-Mind cannot comprehend
the thoughts of God. Yet it was given what we call free will. It can Try
to understand God's
mind. And the only way it has to do this is by understanding his
creation. This Life-with-a-Mind
has come to call itself Man.
Man does not know if it is God's only child within this universe.
Around every star there
may be Life-with-a-Mind. Or only on a single planet which circles the
star Man has come to call
Sol. But Man will be judged at the end of time. When the universe
collapses upon itself in
accordance with which the universe was created, Man will stand before
it's Creator and be
judged, both as a whole and as individuals.
How will it be judged? Will it be judged against the sins that each
individual has
commited? Will it be doomed because a quarter of it's members worship a
being called Buddah?
Or because it has had sexual intercourse before the to sexes entered
into a contract?
NO.
Man will be judged by it's actions. It was created within this
universe, upon this planet
known as Earth for a purpose. Man does not know what that purpose is.
Man does know that that
purpose is not to destroy itself, leaving a message to the other
Life-with-a-Mind that may have
been created as was man.
It also knows that it was not created to reach a place where it was
comfortable, and sit
back and relax. It was created to go Forward.
Always Forward.
And eventually, Outward. To the stars, where it's bretheren might
live.
And if it has no bretheren, it must still reach for those stars.
For if Man has been created
alone within the universe, it must fill the universe. There was once an
ancient prophecy, one
given by God, the only being to know all the infinite possibilities Man
calls the Future, to a man
known as Abraham. He was told that his children more numerous than the
stars in the sky.
There are an infinite number of stars in the sky. Man must fill
them all.
But the longer Man waits to fill the destiny God has given him, the
more Evil that stains
the soul of Man. For there is only one true Evil, and it is known by
many names. When men
looked at the collection of books called the Bible over one thousand
years before this was written,
they named the sins they thought were the Immortal Sins. But there is
only one that has no
exceptions. It is the only true Evil, and all others are mere shadows of
it, made in it's protection
or in the hope of it's attainment.
The true Evil is what was known as Sloth.
Complacency. Lazyness. Apathy.
This is true Evil. To reach the remote satellite of the planet upon
which Man was placed,
and then to abandon it, because other things were less expensive, or
safer, or EASIER, is Evil.
We must expand. We must conquer space. We must make our ancestors number
more than the
stars in the sky. Our souls depend on it.
