Articles and editorial on the church of Scientology
January 18, 1989, Bill Daugherty, Letters to the editor, St. Petersburg Times
http://pqasb.pqarchiver.com/sptimes/access/50374931.html?dids=50374931:50374931&FMT=FT
As for the Pinellas County tax situation, if this had been honestly
researched, Koff would have found that the church of Scientology, in
1981, offered to pay the full amount of tax requested as a gift to the
city that year and in years following, as a resolution to the matter.
Ron Schultz refused the gift, apparently less interested in the money
than in carrying out some purpose best known perhaps only to himself.
In fact, Schultz has taken more than 200 churches in Pinellas County to
task over taxes, exemption from which is guaranteed in the Constitution.
With Schultz's recent loss at the poll, it is apparent that the
churches of Pinellas County, along with a lot of other voters, had had
enough of Schultz's brand of property appraisal.

Don't Be Glib: Anderson Cooper's War on Scientology
January 18, 2008, Pareene, Gawker
https://gawker.com/346532/anderson-coopers-war-on-scientology
Last night Anderson Cooper, CNN's prettiest anchor, investigated that
infamous video of Tom Cruise on Tom Cruise, Scientologist. His
correspondent talked to a former member of the church and took us deep
into the world of strange symbols and acronyms and claims made by
America's favorite tiny grinning superstar actor. Then Cooper replayed
a contentious interview with Scientology's head Inquisitor into the
crimes of Psychology. Cooper even called the religion a fraud based on
pseudo-science (or at least pointed out that that is a "criticism
leveled against Scientology"). What's Anderson's beef with LRH?

EPA a bunch of liars says Tom Cruise
January 18, 2008, eCanadaNow.com
http://www.ecanadanow.com/news/entertainment/epa-a-bunch-of-liars-says-tom-cruise-20080118.html
Tom Cruise has branded the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) liars
for saying the air was clean after 9/11.
The 'Mission Impossible' star has revealed how, as a Scientologist, he
recognised there was a problem and provided rescue workers in the
aftermath of the New York terrorist attack with detoxification therapy
based upon the works of Scientologist founder L. Ron Hubbard.

Scientologists' tall new home
January 18, 2008, Stephen Beaven, The Oregonian
http://www.culteducation.com/reference/scientology/realestate/realestate11.html
Following the lead of other branches throughout the world, the Church
of Scientology of Portland has bought a new headquarters building in
downtown to meet the needs of its growing membership.
The church bought the Stevens Building for $5.4 million from a
foundation created by real estate investor Joseph Weston.

Scientology vs. the Internet, part XVII
January 18, 2008, Mathew Ingram, Ingram 2.0, Globe and Mail
https://www.theglobeandmail.com/servlet/story/RTGAM.20080118.WBmingram20080118144345/WBStory/WBmingram
But almost as interesting is watching the church try to remove the
video from the Internet. It's another small skirmish in a war that
Scientology has been waging for almost 15 years, since the early days
of newsgroups such as alt.religion.scientology, which posted internal
church documents in 1994. Lawsuits have been filed, mailing lists have
been shut down, homes of discussion group participants have been raided
and their computers seized -- an all-out war.
When it comes to the Cruise video, it's easy enough to get YouTube to
take the clip down, because the company is already extra-sensitive to
claims of copyright infringement (Scientology says the video is
copyrighted content meant for internal church use) as a result of being
sued for $1-billion by Viacom, and so it essentially pulls videos down
as soon as it gets a letter from someone who looks like a lawyer. Other
websites aren't so easily cowed, however.

Watch more freaky Tom Cruise Scientology videos.
January 18, 2008, Troy Patterson, Slate Magazine

The main thrill here is voyeuristic, but I'm trying to dignify the

absolute arrogance that can characterize all types of true believers.

When will the Scientologists find the cure for craziness?
January 18, 2008, Marina Hyde, Lost in Showbiz, Guardian
http://www.guardian.co.uk/lifeandstyle/lostinshowbiz/2008/jan/18/whenwillthescientologistsf
Yes, dispelling those baseless rumours of tenuous sanity once and for
all, we have Mister Tom Cruise, whose leaked Scientology indoctrination
video has blanketed the internets and forced the question: which
soldier of fortune should we send into the compound to rescue Katie
Holmes? Lost in Showbiz hereby makes a case for Seagal. But for those
still wondering whether this need really involve knives, gratutious
nudity and the growling of "What kind of babbling bullshit is this?"

This one's gone way beyond a negotiated settlement.

This Open Letter is not an apology for anything I have written in the

How Radical Scientology Rips Off Medicaid
January 18, 2011, Marty Rathbun, Moving On Up a Little Higher
https://markrathbun.wordpress.com/2011/01/18/how-radical-scientology-rips-off-medicaid/
Though I've written about the Miscavige and Radical Scientology's
abuses I've witnessed, perhaps out of some misplaced British sentiment
of allowing justice to take its natural course I wasn't going to
publicly say too much about Dr. Juan Villarreal. But recent events with
my friend Mosey Rathbun changed my mind.
And while I am going to hold back much of what I know and play those
cards close to my chest, what Marty wrote about Dr. Juan Villarreal
having no qualms when it comes to walking over others to play the big
man with the IAS and gain favor with Miscavige is right on the money
(no pun intended).
You see, I worked for Dr. Villarreal from May 2008 to Oct 2009 in an
executive capacity at his dental practice in Harlingen, Texas along
with my wife Lucy and my youngest daughter Katrina who worked in his
dental lab - three members of the James Gang were employed by him.

How A Suppressive Person Becomes One
January 18, 2012, Marty Rathbun, Moving On Up a Little Higher
https://markrathbun.wordpress.com/2012/01/18/how-a-suppressive-person-becomes-one/
Ron Miscavige Jr and I once compared notes on our experiences with his
brother David Miscavige. Ronnie told me that it seemed his entire
childhood consisted of completing fights that David Miscavige had begun
and ran to him to finish. My response to Ronnie was, "well that pretty
much sums up my entire adult life."
As will be made crystal clear in the material I am now working on, if
there was one thing David Miscavige was expert and consistent at it was
making enemies; and particularly enemies for Scientology. The process
always began through his obsession with assigning evil motives to
others. I have never met a person who was so quick to declare others as
evil, to obsess on the alleged evil nature of others, and then to treat
them as evil.
I think it behooves us to recognize that David Miscavige is not
inherently evil. In fact, that is a lesson Miscavige failed to learn
about others that lead him into his current state of being.

Meshell and Heather tell me what the two women from Scientology then
told Edie: "You've been declared. We need you to sign this paper that
says you've been declared."
Meshell tried to make me understand what those words meant to Edie, a
woman who had given decades of her life to Scientology. It was as if
your church, or some other organization that is important to you, had
sent representatives to tell you that you are now considered beneath
contempt, a nonperson, an evil entity. And they do this while
presenting you with a three-page list of your shortcomings and evil
deeds.

Blogging Dianetics, Part 3: The Meaning of Life!
January 18, 2013, Tony Ortega, Underground Bunker
https://tonyortega.org/2013/01/18/blogging-dianetics-part-3-the-meaning-of-life/
Welcome to our ongoing project, where we blog a 1950 first edition of
Scientology's bible, Dianetics, with the help of ex-Scientologist, Bay
Area lawyer, and writer Vance Woodward. Go here for the first post in
the series.
Last week, L. Ron Hubbard explained that there's a superman inside each
one of us that he calls a "clear," and his "dianetic therapy" is going
to help us retrieve a clear's super abilities - vivid technicolor
recall of our memories, enhanced intelligence, imperviousness to
ailments, and good eyesight - by ridding us of our "aberrations." (In
the introduction to the book he tells us this should take about 20
hours of exercises to make us go clear.)
Now, in the third chapter of the book (and the second full chapter),
"The Goal of Man," Hubbard says that he's unlocked the secret of our
existence. What is the purpose of our lives on Earth? His answer is
simply one word: "SURVIVE!"

Narconon wants wrongful death suit thrown out

David Root, a lawyer for Narconon International, argued 28-year old
Patrick Desmond has no one to blame for his death but himself.
"If you voluntarily ingest something and hurt yourself, you can't sue,"
he told Judge Stacey Hydrick during Thursday's lengthy hearing.
Desmond, a former Marine who was sentenced to in-patient drug and
alcohol rehabilitation by a Florida drug court in 2007, died after
drinking with a Narconon employee then shooting heroin with two former
Narconon patients.

Scientology: Going Clear exposes more of the cult's and Tom Cruise's secrets

Scientology exposed: In Going Clear: Scientology, Hollywood, and the
Prison of Belief, Pulitzer prize-winning Lawrence Wright takes aim at
Scientology, Tom Cruise and David Miscavige in his exhaustively
investigated book on the cult from its founding by L. Ron Hubbard to
the present day.
Among the highlights: Scientology head David Miscavige physically
abuses his minions and makes them salute dogs. Tom Cruise believes he
is No. 3 in the cult's hierarchy, behind Miscavige and L. Ron Hubbard.
And John Travolta basically has to do whatever Scientology wants him to
do because the cult is blackmailing him with evidence that he is gay.

Jon Atack on Scientology's fundamental feature: the thousand-yard stare
January 18, 2014, Tony Ortega, Underground Bunker
https://tonyortega.org/2014/01/18/jon-atack-on-scientologys-fundamental-feature-thousand-yard-stare/
Jon Atack is the author of A Piece of Blue Sky, one of the very best
books on L. Ron Hubbard and Scientology. He has a new edition of the
book for sale, and on Saturdays he's helping us sift through the
legends, myths, and contested facts about Scientology that tend to get
hashed and rehashed in books, articles, and especially on the Internet.
Once again, Jon takes apart a bedrock concept of L. Ron Hubbard's cabal.
Take it away, Jon...
JON: Scientologists will correct you, should you suggest that in
Training Routine 0 you stare. 'No,' you will be assured, 'You confront.
' Taxed on the difference between 'confronting' and 'staring' little of
use is forthcoming. The difference, it seems, is too subtle for words.

Well we just got a copy of David Miscavige's boldest attempt ever to
lock down total control of all Scientology audiitng. A good try Dave,
but I think the flock has already fled.
It is two documents, one that licenses the software and one that
licenses the actual meter itself. You can download a PDF of this ball
and chain right here. You can also click on the images below to get an
idea of the pages and content. Keep in mind this has to be signed and
returned to Scientology BEFORE you get your e-meter. I was going to
excerpt the most egregious efforts to suppress all auditing outside of
Captain David Miscavige's control but almost every line is a direct
statement command to "lie down, roll over and kiss my feet". Two great
lines are...

We've got another explosive story for you today here at the Underground
Bunker. It's the first portion of a videotaped deposition former Church
of Scientology executive Mark "Marty" Rathbun sat for last month in a
federal fraud lawsuit against the church.
Rathbun spent 27 years in Scientology and was its "inspector general
for ethics," the second-highest ranking official in the organization.
He was known as a ruthlessly effective enforcer who then became
disaffected and left the group in 2004. Today, he's considered one of
the biggest threats to Scientology's continued existence, and on
December 22, for the first time since his defection, he sat for a
deposition and was questioned by the church's own attorneys.
It was a combative showdown.

This is not a shoop, a spoof or a joke (though SNL or John Oliver would

If you read this poster and took it to heart - it would prevent most of

the intention. It's a fundraiser for Santa Barbara "ideal" org.
But then again, if you read and follow L. Ron Hubbard policy on finance
it would prevent most donations made to scientology.

With the hundreds of former Scientologist employees and Sea Org members
who have come out and told their stories in recent years, you might
think there was no one left who has ditched the organization and is
still holding onto crucial information. There are, in fact, quite a
few, and we keep an eye on them, hoping that they'll get around to

But these days, with social media, it's getting hard for them to keep
quiet, at least about their day to day activities.

The Secrets of Charles Koch's Political Ascent
January 18, 2016, Jane Mayer, Politico
https://www.politico.com/magazine/story/2016/01/charles-koch-political-ascent-jane-mayer-213541
As for gaining adherents, Charles suggested, their best bet was to
focus on "attracting youth" because "this is the only group that is
open to a radically different social philosophy." He would act on this
belief in years to come by funneling millions of dollars into
educational indoctrination, with free-market curricula and even video
games promoting his ideology pitched to prospects as young as grade
school.
In support of building their own youth movement, another speaker, the
libertarian historian Leonard Liggio, cited the success of the Nazi
model. In his paper titled "National Socialist Political Strategy:
Social Change in a Modern Industrial Society with an Authoritarian
Tradition," Liggio, who was affiliated with the Koch-funded Institute
for Humane Studies from 1974 until 1998, described the Nazis'
successful creation of a youth movement as key to their capture of the
state. Like the Nazis, he suggested, libertarians should organize
university students to create group identity.
George Pearson, a former member of the John Birch Society in Wichita,
Kansas, who served as Charles Koch's political lieutenant during these
years, expanded on this strategy in his own eye-opening paper. He
suggested that libertarians needed to mobilize youthful cadres by
influencing academia in new ways. Traditional gifts to universities, he
warned, didn't guarantee enough ideological control. Instead, he
advocated funding private institutes within prestigious universities,
where donors could exert influence over hiring decisions and other
academic matters while hiding the radicalism of their aims.

#ScientologyTheAftermath 2nd Reddit AMA
January 18, 2017, Mike Rinder, Something Can Be Done About It
https://www.mikerindersblog.org/scientologytheaftermath-2nd-reddit-ama/
Tonight's 2nd Reddit AMA is the final show we have shot for this season
of Leah Remini Scientology The Aftermath. A&E has another special
coming about Leah, but it is a bonus, not considered part of this
"series" of 7 episodes and 2 Reddit AMA specials.
It has been a wild ride - the response has been beyond anything we
could have hoped for. What I said at the end of the show is absolutely
correct. I am not stopping. This experience has only motivated me to
push harder. Though it is on everyone's mind right now, I cannot tell
you that there is a Season 2 yet, nothing has been finalized. But I
will certainly let everyone know if things all work out and that is
confirmed. There are so many more stories to be told, and so many
people who have come forward that something has to be done!
We wanted to take the opportunity with this last Q and A to answer some
of the most often asked questions and air some things (like the Debbie
Cook testimony and information about L. Ron Hubbard) that are not NEW,
but have not been seen by the audience this show now has.

Joining Staff at Scientology Pasadena - Recruitment Tricks
January 18, 2017, Steven Mango, YouTube

I joined staff at the Scientology Pasadena Org in July 2010. There were
many gruesome recruitment cycles to trick me to join staff & to sign
the contract when I didn't initially want to join. I wanted to share
some of the stories of recruitment for staff and what actually happened
on my first day on staff when David Miscavige was present during the
ribbon cutting!
Will a bean and cheese burrito really make me want to commit 5 years of
my life to Scientology staff?
Put that pen on that paper! Put just an S! Now a T! Now put the rest of
your name on that contract!

We had another good time last night watching the social media response
to the latest episode of Leah Remini: Scientology and the Aftermath,
and it looked like another hit. Next Tuesday, there's one more episode
that will focus on Leah and was filmed earlier. So maybe now is a good
time to look back on the series as a whole to look at who Leah brought
on her shows, and to provide some links for further reading.
Is this thing a juggernaut or what?

Scientology's UK HQ angers residents by felling trees in conservation area
January 18, 2017, Robert Booth, The Guardian
https://www.theguardian.com/world/2017/jan/18/scientologys-uk-hq-angers-residents-by-felling-trees-in-conservation-area
The church of Scientology has angered neighbours at its UK headquarters
by expanding its facilities without planning consent and felling trees
in a designated area of outstanding natural beauty.
Residents close to the sprawling HQ near East Grinstead in West Sussex
have accused the church of "selfishly and arrogantly" carrying out
"destructive development plans before authorisation" by building a
coach and minibus park before securing planning permission.
People in the hamlet of St Hill Green are objecting to noise and light
pollution and what they say is the destruction of wildlife habitats,
including the cutting down of 22 trees. A planning application has now
been lodged for retrospective consent.

Why has this Church of Scientology building in Old Trafford been empty for 10
years?
January 18, 2017, Dominic Smithers, Manchester Evening News
http://www.manchestereveningnews.co.uk/news/greater-manchester-news/church-scientology-building-old-trafford-12474501
The Church of Scientology plans to go ahead with the proposed
renovation of Duckworth's Essence Distillery, despite a ten-year delay.
The Grade II-listed building, on Chester Road in Trafford, was bought
by the church in 2006 for a reported price of ?3m, but has since
remained empty.
Plans were initially put forward in 2007 for a 'change of use', to turn
the former mill into an 'Ideal Org', only for these to be withdrawn.
The church now hopes to 'move forward' with the Trafford development by
next year.

A new chapter for one of the best Scientology books of all time? Yes, and we

https://tonyortega.org/2018/01/18/a-new-chapter-for-one-of-the-best-scientology-books-of-all-time-yes-and-we-have-it/
Jon Atack just let us know that he's putting out a fourth edition of
his excellent book of Scientology history, Let's sell these people a
piece of blue sky. And he's taking the opportunity to restore a missing
chapter that was left out previously for legal reasons. He tells us
that Kindle owners who had purchased the book should be able to update
to the new edition for free, but he asked us to post the new chapter
here at the Bunker for readers who own print copies of his book. We
were happy to oblige. So here is the new chapter, "The Religious
Technology Center and the International Finance Police."
The organizational restructuring of Scientology continued apace through
1982. On January 1, the Religious Technology Center (RTC) was
incorporated. RTC took over the trademarks of Dianetics and Scientology.
David Mayo's signature is on the incorporation papers, but he claims
that the terms were altered after he signed. David Miscavige was
another of the seven signatories. Through the control of the
trademarks, RTC could control Scientology, withdrawing the right of any
intransigent group to use such words as "Scientology" or "OT" in
advertising, and suing if the group continued to use them. There were
hundreds of registered trademarks, including the word "Happiness," the
phrase "The friendliest place in the whole world," and tens of Dianetic
and Scientology symbols. The new rulers were seeking to use laws
relating to business to effect a total monopoly for their religion.
International Church management had been taken from the Flag Bureaux by
the Commodore's Messengers Organization in 1979. The Guardian's Office
had been defeated and absorbed by the CMO without bloodshed in 1981.
Author Services Incorporated was waiting in the wings to license
Hubbard's copyrights to Bridge Publications and New Era Publications,
which had separated from the Church, at least on paper. The Church of
Scientology International had come into being to assume the management
of the Orgs. By 1982 Scientology in the UK was already registered as
the Religious Education College Incorporated, with its headquarters in
Australia. Continental offices each had their own incorporation. It was
a hasty attempt to divide the sinking ship of the Church of Scientology
of California into watertight compartments.

City: Competing Scientology-related events 'the last thing we need for our
downtown'
January 18, 2018, Tracey McManus, Tampa Bay Times
http://www.tampabay.com/news/scientology/City-Competing-Scientology-related-events-the-last-thing-we-need-for-our-downtown-_164633450
On Jan. 9, high-profile Scientology defectors Mike Rinder and Aaron
Smith-Levin walked into city offices and applied for a permit to close
three blocks of Cleveland Street for their "Support Downtown
Clearwater" event March 10.
Their goal was to host food vendors and throw a concert to "bring
people to the downtown community and create awareness of downtown
business opportunities."
The application didn't mention it, but the hook was a meet-and-greet
with ex-Scientologists who've appeared on the Emmy award winning Leah
Remini: Scientology and the Aftermath series, with which Smith-Levin
and Rinder are involved.
Exactly two days later, the city received another event application,
this one from the Church of Scientology to host a downtown block party
on March 24.

Scientology's Office of Special Affairs is an Intelligence Failure
January 18, 2018, Chris Shelton, Critical Thinker at Large

Harassment, stalking and other dirty tricks are the hallmarks of the
Church of Scientology, and specifically its Office of Special Affairs.
In this video, I speak with a former military intelligence analyst,
Jeff Wasel, about how OSA operates and how their entire claim at being
an intelligence branch for Scientology is actually just so much huffing
and puffing because in reality, OSA is just a goon squad and propaganda
arm. We talk in some detail about all this and how Hubbard really
missed the boat in putting this all together.

The scary ideology behind Trump's immigration instincts
January 18, 2018, Jane Coaston, Vox
https://www.vox.com/2018/1/18/16897358/racism-donald-trump-immigration
President Donald Trump's closing argument in the 2018 midterms was to
vote Republican to save America from foreigners - an idea rooted in a
fringe theory that whites are under siege, or "white genocide."
"It's like an invasion," Trump said last week, talking about Central
American migrants walking north through Mexico. "They have violently
overrun the Mexican border. You saw that two days ago. These are tough
people, in many cases. A lot of young men, strong men. And a lot of men
that maybe we don't want in our country."
In the midst of the debate over family separation earlier this year,
Trump implied that his justification for his restrictionist ideology
for even legal immigrants is to prevent the United States from enduring
what's happening in Europe. There, he claims falsely, immigrants are
bringing with them a wave of violence that's driving up the crime rate.

The 2017 documentary Men in the Arena follows two teenagers trying to
make it as soccer players in one of the most dystopian places on earth
- battle-ravaged Somalia.
Think Hoop Dreams, but set in a war zone.
The two young players are good enough that they play on Somalia's

important regional tournament against other eastern and central African
national squads. No one there expects them to score a goal, let alone

Trump's Baseless Claim About Prayer Rugs Found at the Border
January 18, 2019, Linda Qiu, New York Times
https://www.nytimes.com/2019/01/18/us/politics/fact-check-trump-prayer-rugs-border.html
That claim echoes earlier ones from Mr. Trump: baseless warnings that
"unknown Middle Easterners" had infiltrated a migrant caravan and that
terrorists were pouring across the southern border.
Nowhere in the White House's 25-page counterterrorism policy, released
in October, was the threat of terrorists infiltrating the nation's
southwest border raised. And the State Department, in a September
report, said there was "no credible evidence" that terrorist groups had
sent operatives to enter the United States through Mexico.
The Department of Homeland Security did not respond to requests for
evidence of Mr. Trump's claims.

Conrad Black rails against climate policy, predicts Trump will defeat 'cluck'

January 18, 2020, Joel Dryden, CBC News

Former media baron Conrad Black called for the "persecution" of
Alberta's energy sector to end during a keynote speech at a conference
hosted by Alberta Proud, a third-party election advertiser.
"While Alberta accepts that it isn't the ambition or the intention of
the federal government to persecute Alberta and lower its living
standard, that is the effect of their policies," Black said in an
interview with CBC News following his speech Saturday. "They're doing
it out of a fear of a fate whose likelihood is based on very flimsy
suppositions and dubious advocacy by a lot of zealots."
Black also railed against Canada's climate policy during his speech,
arguing that all of Canada suffers when Alberta's natural resources are
targeted.

FBI arrests reveal shocking details in case against former Canadian reservist

January 18, 2020, Karen Pauls, CBC News

FBI officers have arrested more alleged members of a racially motivated
and violent extremist group that a former Manitoba reservist has been
accused of recruiting for - and court documents tell a chilling tale
that includes plans to murder a married couple and overthrow the U.S.
government.
In separate sweeps Friday, American law enforcement arrested three men
in Georgia and another in Wisconsin.
The arrests came just one day after three alleged members of The Base
were arrested in Delaware and Maryland - including 27-year-old Patrik
Mathews. The Manitoba man had been missing for nearly five months, ever
since he was accused of recruiting for a global neo-Nazi group, while
at the same time serving in Canada's army reserves.

Narconon whistleblower Lucas Catton puts out a new memoir about his
Scientology nightmare
January 18, 2020, Tony Ortega, Underground Bunker
https://tonyortega.org/2020/01/18/narconon-whistleblower-lucas-catton-puts-out-a-new-memoir-about-his-scientology-nightmare/
We have a new entry in our 'Scientology Lit' series, this time an
excerpt from a new book by Lucas Catton, who at one time was president
of Scientology's flagship drug rehab clinic, Narconon Arrowhead in
Oklahoma. Back in 2012 Luke became a major whistleblower which got him
an appearance on NBC's 'Rock Center' program. He also came out with a
2013 book about his Narconon experience, 'Have You Told All?', which he
later removed from the marketplace. Now he's back with another memoir,
'Reconnection,' and he was kind enough to provide us with this excerpt
from it.
In June of 2014, I received a subpoena to testify before a criminal
investigation into Narconon Arrowhead by the Oklahoma Attorney
General's office. They had sent it to a multi-county grand jury to
review some of the evidence that the state had gathered up to that
point. Once the dates were worked out, the Oklahoma AG's office booked
a flight and hotel for me to testify at the end of the month. On the
day of travel, I had a layover at Dallas-Ft. Worth Airport, but my
connecting flight got cancelled, and I was bumped to the next morning.
Rather than waiting for the flight and potentially being late, I was
able to get a rental car and drove from Dallas up to Oklahoma City. It
was a very odd and lonely feeling crossing that Oklahoma border just
before sunset that summer night. It had been two and a half years since
I left Oklahoma, and I certainly hadn't envisioned returning for that
purpose. On one hand I was sad for all of the people and circumstances
involved, while on the other I was glad to do my share to keep telling
the truth of what I knew and had experienced to those with the capacity
to take action.
I wound up getting to the hotel fairly late that evening, and I was
paranoid that there were potentially private investigators trying to
keep an eye on me while I was there. Every time I saw someone who might
have looked my way, I stopped to observe them for a bit to see if they
really were watching me. I didn't wind up seeing anything out of the
ordinary, and thankfully I slept much better that evening than I had
when traveling to New York the previous year. Although Scientology has
admittedly used private investigators to follow people for decades, and
still do so today to harass whistleblowers and intimidate witnesses, I
never found any evidence that they had dispatched one my direction,
thankfully.

me, it still surprises me sometimes when they offer up new ones.
This appeared a few days ago on my daughter's blog (though she is just
the name and face that is used - this garbage is written by the same
people that churn out the drivel that appears on the STAND League and
Freedom smear sites).
The idea that I committed some grievous bodily harm on my ex-wife when
she and 6 others stalked and accosted me in a doctors parking lot in
2010 has been thoroughly debunked on this blog (see Mike Rinder: "Lady
Killer") and in even more detail on Jeffrey Augustine's blog where he
has systematically tracked and debunked the stream of viciously false
claims about me.

White supremacists picked up for plotting murder while Trump whines about gun
rights

The FBI arrested six white supremacists (three who entered the country
illegally from Canada) in advance of a planned gun rally in Virginia
where the FBI claims that a few members planned to "open fire."
Where some might see a threat from terrorism (and, ironically, illegal
immigration), Trump sees a threat to the Second Amendment.
