I had thought I'd be able to post & follow ARS while on a business
trip in Germany, but it turned out that my AOL software did not want
to work with the PCMCIA card that came with the Compaq modem my
company issued me. So instead, I spent a month away form the news
group. Thanks much to Ted Mayett for posting the 3 reports I made form
Germany on Scientology there. While I doubt I was as penetrating in my
observations as any resident in that country might be, still I hope
that it complemented the reports we receive form Tilman, Cornelisu, et
alia, from there.
Now for something completely different.
While at the Celebrity Centre in Duesseldorf, I picked up a copy of an
8-page colored give-away called ``Good News", subtitled ``A
Scientology Newspaper." (I also have a copy of _Frieheit_ I got there
- the German version of _Freedom_. I believe this copy - with the
title ``Der Rasputin von Bonn" [referring to an article that features
Norbert Bluem] has been described already by someone else.) I have
never heard of this publication before, & would like to describe its
contents here. Since there is no date associated with this publication
(except for a 1997 copyright), I'll describe it's cover page with more
detail than might be defended by the rules of copyright.
Page 1. Top article is a reprint of something Hubbard wrote, dated to
20 October 1958 with the title, ``The Scientologist ... Introducing
Order Into Society". The article itself is a description by Hubbard of
a Scientology critic refuting the (apparently) rational Scientologist
with the statement ``Ya-ya-ya-ya-ya-chya-chya." Hubbard, apparently,
is accusing his critics with using more nonsensical words than he was
wont to use. This is illlustrated with a picture of Hubbard in a
tuxedo with his left hand on a globe.
The rest of the page is filled with the start of an article entitled
``A Community Honors LRH with all its Heart and Soul", with the
subtitle ``Thousands attend L. Ron Hubbard Way Opening". This is
continued on page 3. Apparently, when they renamed one of the local
streets in LA for this pulp writer, the Scienos decided to repave the
street in question. The description of how this was done reminds this
correspondent of the Stalinist descriptions of how the latest 5 Year
Plan was achieved ahead of schedule:
This street beautification project was taken to a done (sic) in
an eighth of the time estimated by city officials.
In fact, city planners themselves became caught up in the spirit
of the activity. Even when heavy rains threw construction behind
schedule, city inspectors, the project manager, his staff and
contractors worked overtime without pay to get it back on target
for completion by LRH's birthday.
[Having worked in construction consulting for a few years, this is not
unusual. The engineers & their staff are rarely paid overtime, but
receive a large bonus if the project meets its completion date. As a
result, many engineers work long hours for seven days a week until the
end of the project - as if they were Sea Org or Scieno Staff. Then
they take the money & vacation for several weeks - unlike Sea Org or
Scieno Staff.]
And back on schedule they got it - even pulling crews and
equipment off the biggest project in southern California, the LA
Metro Rail, to do so.
This article is illustrated with 9 pictures, showing that some kind of
repaving of the street in question occured. Just how much labor it
actually required - & how good of a job it was - are questions I'll
leave for some one who can visit the site & offer an unbiased &
informed opinion.
Page 3. Top article is titled ``LRH Book Span the Hemispheres". This
is a report on the number of books Hubbard wrote that are available in
many languages. I found this article most interesting because of one
of the pictures accompanying it: one of the aliens from the
Battlefield Earth CD ROM is accompanied by Samantha Fox, one time
minor rocker, & page 3 girl (but not the American porn star with whom
she was often confused).
The other article is an announcement that Hubbard's private papers
from 1926 to 1940 will be published on his birthday of this year. (The
work is titled _RON Letters and Journals: Early Years of Adventure_.)
Does anyone have any further information about this book?
Page 4 & 5. A two-page spread with the title ``Honorary PROs in
Action: HPROs Introduce People of All Walks of Life to Source". Thsi
comprises articles with titles such as ``LRH TECHNOLOGY: REAL HELP FOR
EVERY RACE, COLOR AND CREED", ``50 Million People a Day Sign Out 200
million Books", ``Mexico honors LRH for his tech to bring new life to
their country", ``Minister of Defense praises _The Way to Happiness_"
[This states that Norwegian Defense Minister Jorgen Kosmo was so
impressed by Hubbard's book of this title that he ``is now working out
how to get copies of TWTH to every soldier in Norway. Should our man
in Norway, Andreas, be worried?] ``HPROs bring LRH Tech to South
Africa" & ``HPROs dominate airwaves with LRH tech".
Pages 6 & 7 are devoted to ``Recognitions & Tributes". One article
states that ``leaders from every corner of Earth (sic) pay special
tribute to LRH", claiming that 250 proclamations were presented.
Another article mentions the new book _RON Letters and Journals_
again. (This is beginning to sound like 8 pages of advertising.) Still
another article tells us how ``NATIVE AMERICAN LEADERS PAY HIGHEST
TRIBUTE TO BLOOD BROTHER L. RON HUBBARD".
At the bottom of page 7 is a half-page article, with 2 illustrations
(this publication is full of color illustrations), entitled ``LATIN
MAERICA IS ON THE WAY TO HAPPINESS". This claims to describe how
another PRO (whatever that is) introduced Hubbard's _The Way to
Happiness_ to Ensada Prison in Baja California, but spends almost as
much of its meager space to stating that Criminon was present at the
New York State Attorney General's Crime Prevention Fair.
Page 8 is mostly covered by a large photo of Hubbard in shirtsleeves,
& room for mailing information. In narrow columns are: (to the left)
how to become a _Good_News_ correspondent, & (to the right) ``Get PR
trained".
If this is new information, I'd be happy to share more information
about the contents, & the names of officials who endorse this
religious technology (sic). Strange that the US government, on one
hand tried to suppress it, buton the other, acknowledges it as a
``bona-fide" religion.

Would appreciate some verification if anyone can verify this.
In a Co$ publication (Internation Scientology News Issue 39), a Mr.
Kanzen Takeda, who Co$ states is a VERY respected Zen Buddhist leader,
embraced L. Ron Hubbard and his Technology and Co$ states that he also
recommends Dianetic and scientology Technology to other Buddhist
teachers as well.
The Co$ further states in the article that a Mr. Fumio Sawada, a
revered leader of the Shinto religion in Japan, was introduced to the
LRH Technology by Mr. Takeda and has also embraced it and recommends
it as well.
They quote Mr. Sawada as saying "I cannot help but feel elated. I
think that with the practical technology of Scientology, the ideal
that all religions have sought has now come true. I want to deeply
affirm my respect and praise for Mr. L. Ron Hubbard who developed
such a wonderful road."
The Co$ also states that there is reference in Buddhism about L. Ron
Hubbard (the red-haired one) as having been the carnation of the
Mateiya.
Now, I find this all very hard to believe. Does anyone on any of these
newsgroups KNOW and can verify Mr. Takeda and Mr. Sawada as being
leaders in Buddhism and Shintoism, and ARE these religions turning
to the Co$ and L. Ron Hubbard now? Or is this just more Co$ BS? I
would really like to know.
Also, from another Co$ publication "Good News" 1997, it states:
[regarding tributes made to LRH]
"One of the most aesthetic, was presented by a business owner in
Taichung, Taiwan, who is also a Buddhist community leader. On a
painting of a sacred lotus flower set in a rosewood frame, he inscribed
his personal thanks to LRH for helping his organization to grow. The
lotus, a symbol of peace, spirituality and good fortune, is also known
to nearly a billion Buddhists the world over as the religion's sacred
flower.
Tim Lin, owner and director of the Lotus Buddhi Company, is an opinion
leader in a Taichung Buddhist community which is several centuries old
and currently has over 2,000 memebers. Mr. Lin last year began
applying LRH administrative tech to his business and has since begun to
lecture on the principles of LRH admin tech to large corporations
throughout Taiwan.
So, my other question is, anyone know if Mr. Lin is also getting
Buddhists to embrace LRH? Is Co$ "misleading" again, or is it fact that
scientologycan now claim that Buddhists are now including their
teachings as part of their belief systems? What's going on here?

NATIVE AMERICAN LEADERS PAY HIGHEST TRIBUTE TO BLOOD BROTHER
L. RON HUBBARD
LRH's understanding of Native American cultures and philosophies was
unprecedented. So much so, in fact, that when elders of the Blackfoot
tribal council read LRH's "Buckskin Brigades" over a decade ago, they
were moved to collectively write to LRH, their blood bother, the
following: "you have walked the Blackfeet path with honor and have shown
our people in the true light. Never has our morals and ethics been
presented with such clarity'.
Shortly after this event, the Blackfoot people erected a small
exhibition on their reservation, dedicated to LRH. Dila Houle, a
Blackfoot from the province of Alberta in Canada, visiting relatives in
Montana stopped in to see it one day. The exhibition had a profound
effect on her. She determined that through LRH she would help her
people.
Today she works in a prison near Clagary, Alberta, the border province
directly north of Montana. At this prison she counsels 230 Indian and
60 Eskimo juveniles who have gone astray. Her primary and only
successful tool: Book One Dianetics! She currently has more than twenty
Book One preclears.
Because of her help to her people she has been entrusted the status of a
Blackfoot elder, making her one of her nation's most respected members.
During the week of LRH's Birthday Ms. Houle and the leaders and elders
from Canada's most powerful Indian nations - the Ojibway, Cree and
Blackfeet - honored LRH at a ceremony held at Celebrity Centre
International, where they presented the Blackfoot peace pipe, the Cree
eagle claw and feather and the Ojibway "dreamcatcher".
Ojibway leader, Mr. Ted Dellair, presented it to LRH "for all the dreams
he has made possible". In doing so, Mr. Dellair expressed his deep
appreciation for the LRH tech that is reaching out to help the Native
American. He himself is learning Admin Tech to be able to bring LRH's
literacy and detoxification programs bgroadly into the province
of Alberta.
Cree elder Mr. Sam Shirt, a Book One Auditor, has witnessed the miracle
of workablility of Dianetics. He presented the highest honor of the
Cree nation: the eagle claw and feather. According to Indian belief,
the eagle flies higher than any other bird and therefore it is closest
to the Creator. Because of this, the eagle feather is a symbol of the
highest reverence to a man. It is awarded only to those who have made
extraordinary and stellar contributions to humanity.
The Blackfoot peace pipe is, as well, a rare tribute. In presnting it,
Ms. houle sang time honored prayers of the plains Indian. In the
highest expression of homage, Ms. Houle presented a speically designed
pipe of horn and wood, which she consecreted and presented as a special
give to L. Ron Hubbard in celebration of the 60th anniversayr of
the reelease of "Buckskin Brigades", LRH's first published novel.
Each of these Native American honors are now on display at the LRH Life
Exhibition, for they pay tribute to the one being whom people all over
the world hold in the highest respect - L. Ron Hubbard."

His promise to read the book thoroughly and to report back to Dan Viggo
was faithfully kept. He recently told of his lectures and seminars, in

In his last letter to Dan, he included the text of the endoresement he
now gives for the book to all those he recommends it to. It reads in

"These are the golden rules that family, close friends and schools tried

Co$ is using their front groups very successfully to get
the doors opened to scientology in other countries. Below
is an example. The results are getting the wealthy involved
in the Co$ and gaining political influence as well.
The scientology front groups used here are "The Way to Happiness
Program" which is able to be used very easily world-wide to get
Co$'s foot in the door, and "Criminon".
From Co$ publication "Good News", 1997:
[Headline] LATIN AMERICA IS ON THE WAY TO HAPPINESS!
"A pilot program using "The Way to Happiness" was conducted with 900
school children over the past five months in the Baja schools.
The results were so impressive that the Governor of Baja just signed
into LAW that all students in the state are to do "The Way to Happiness"
program over the next three years. That's 1.2 million children
enrolled!
In Ensenada, Mexico, a team of Honorary PRO's [specially trained church
of scientology Public Relations Officers] organizaed "The Way to
Happiness Gang Mural Contest". Instead of defacing Ensenada's walls,
these graffitieros, or "graffiti artists" from throughout the state of
Baja California, Mexico, spray painted them with murals depicting "The
Way to Happiness" presecpts.
When the contest was over, the city of Ensenada had 23 large "Way to
Happiness" murals. And the contests judges - world renowned musicians
Billy Sheehan, Eduardo Palomo and Carina Ricco [Co$ DOES make good use
of their celebrities to attract new recruits] and two penal court judges
- awarded the proud winners.
[Co$ has come up with a bevvy of contests for young people as a method
of good PR and to detract from all of the negative attention to them
from the criminal actions they have been caught in around the world and
their attacks on freedom of speech of others as well as the vast number
of ex-members who are stepping forward to tell the world the truth of
the totalitarian policy and enforcement demanded on their members, as
well as keeping files of personal information on members to be used
against them should they become a "problem" in the future]

"The Way to Hppiness" and the Criminon Program were in top demand at the
New York State Attorney General's Crime Prevention Fair. As a result of
distribution of "Ethics, Justice and Civilization (the edition of "RON
The Humanitarian: The Road to Self-Resect" designed especially for
presentations), New York state correction officials invited two Honorary
PRO's to bring LRH's criminal reform solutions to the event's attendees.
Over 300 copies of the mag were presented, including many to state and
federal lawmakers. The reach for LRH tech was phenomenal, with many
teachers and police officers taking copies of "The Way to Happiness" to
use right away in their programs, and swearing in on the spot as "Drug
Free Marshalls".
The Attorney General himself was presented with a leatherbound copy of
"The Way to Happiness" which he really appreciated."

TRAINED OTs START NEW AFRICAN-AMERICAN MISSION IN LOS ANGELES
[This article as about EBONY AWAKENING, a scientology group formed
to make inroads into the African-American community. For those who
are trying to keep up with all the myriad of Co$ front groups, here
is yet another]
With an executive board of highly trained and audited Scientologists,
the group is dedicated to increasing awareness and application of
Dianetics and scientology in the black community. And now the group
is spearheading the opening of the new Crenshaw Scientology Mission
in the heart of the historical African-American Crenshaw district in
L.A.
Ebony's president, Gloria Rusch, renowned jass vocalist, Clear, and
Book One Auditor, has been working on the Crenshaw opening with other
Ebony members, Linda Griffin and Larry Bosley, both of whom are Clears
and on the Saint Hill Speical Briefing Course.
[Gloria talks about being raised in Crenshaw and how it has
deteriorated]
. . . "So, Ebony Awakening decided we'd better get Scientology being
actively applied in the area to bring it back up again. We started a
literacy program using LRH's Study Tech, in the Crenshaw Praise

with people's study problems led to a big demand for Study Technology
and Scientology and Dianetics in general".
"Our new mission will be located just a few blocks from the artists
community there - African art museums, galleries, jazz clubs, theatres,
and more. We are right next to the new Magic Johnson theatre complex -
slap bang in the middle of everything."
Opening the Crenshaw Mission is big news for Ebony Awakening, but is
only part of the many actions they are taking.
Larry is also working with Criminon and other members are involved in
the World Literacy Crusade, Lift Every Voice International (an
organization dedicated to bringing about a peaceful resolution of world
conflicts) and several other educational and community benefit programs.
And the final touch, the Mission Holder is Peggy Crawford who just won
the LRH Birthday Game with her Wichita Mission.
