4 TWTH books distributed
383:23 total tutor hours

Wins! Wins! Wins! Well, the week started with a bang as TWTH was
featured on local news in a 12 minute spot about Adopting families
for the holidays. This is our longest time on the air in one
segment...way cool considering I am not famous, can not act, and when
I sing, animals become extinct. AND TWTH Club is in a new daily
commercial on CBS, again promoting the adopt a family program.

97 toys were picked up today by the Salvation Army to benefit the
Angel Tree program for the needy. (3 toys were dropped off after the
pick up and I need a local person to take these to the Salvation
Army..please email me back if you can go tomorrow.) Anyway, 100 toys!

Next week is busy as Friday Linda Thebom & her students from Dr.
Michael Krop High will join up with TWTH club at the Salvation Army
Homeless shelter and host a party for 50 kids! We'll give each child a
personalized crown, copy of TWTH, and a toy from Santa. Plus we get
everybody to sing led by Viola...only the coolest cafeteria worker on
the planet! Saturday, it is my house to celebrate Christmas with our
adopted family! (Chris Nobbe donated 3 back packs and Nancy West sent
in some $$$!) Thanks girls! I still need a bit to pull this off...
school supplies, tooth paste etc, and I would love to get 3 brand
spanking new Gameboys!! I will need a driver to pick up the family at
1:30 and then take them home again around 5...again email me if you
want to get involved.

And let's not forget about the tutoring. I am working with a 9 year
old on FCAT preparations. The FCAT is a new test in Florida given in
schools. The test questions are so incredibly stupid that I made
copies for my next parenting seminar. Just to give you an idea of the
average kid has to deal with....one problem showed an assortment of
coins. The problem was that Juan needed 75 cents for the bus. The
solution was NOT to circle the correct coins, it was to figure out the
least amount of coins needed to make 75 cents. Yet, my student could
count out 75 cents using various coins 3 quarters, a combo of pennies,
dimes & nickles, but because she did not get the question, she is
flunking math. My favorite were the, How is a circle like the shape of
a ball...explain your reasoning, or even 3 take away one is 2, explain
if the solution is abstract or factual. Now on the brigter side of
education, Morgan's weekend boy surprised his mom...he was reading!
This is huge! My son Adam went up 2 grade levels in math and even
likes math now, by the way Adam's snake shed its skin which is longer
than me now! Many more of the same...in fact i just tested a 14 year
old who I have had for about 6 months. She came to me in 3rd & 4th
grade level and today completed half of her tests, which were all 9th
& 10th grade. Tip of the ice berg as far as this week's wins go, but I
& have to get on to other things like dinner and bathing the dog:) Babs

Subj: [itheta-talk] NEWSFLASH! BERLIN COURT RULES GERMAN
GOVERNMENT SPYING ON SCIENTOLOGISTS UNCONSTITUTIONAL AND
UNJUSTIFIED!

BERLIN COURT RULES GERMAN GOVERNMENT SPYING ON SCIENTOLOGISTS
UNCONSTITUTIONAL AND UNJUSTIFIED

In a decision that destroys the entire rationale the German government
uses to justify discriminatory measures against Scientologists, the
Berlin Administrative Court today ruled that the government has no
basis whatsoever to conduct surveillance of peaceful members of the
Church of Scientology.

The Court held that the Office for the Protection of the Constitution
(OPC), Germany's domestic security service, has acted illegally and
unconstitutionally. After four years of surveillance, there are no
indicators of any activities by the Church or Scientologists to
justify the spying measure. In an effort to support continued
surveillance, the OPC had twisted the meaning of certain statements in
Scientology literature and presented them out of context. The
statements the OPC cited clearly referred to a striving for heightened
awareness on a spiritual level, the court stated.

"The court has struck a decisive blow for democracy and human rights.
Today's victory gives us the tool to dismantle the entire machinery of
discrimination against Scientologists in Germany," said Leisa Goodman,
Human Rights Director for the Church of Scientology International. She
added that, "OPC agents have been harassing Scientologists for four
years, and have engaged in every dirty trick in the book. We
congratulate the court for having the courage to defend the
Constitution against the so-called Office for the Protection of the
Constitution."

The U.S. State Department, several members of Congress, and many
religious and human rights leaders have condemned the surveillance as
a gratuitous intrusion into Scientologists' private lives and a gross
abuse of human rights. The State Department noted in its International
Religious Freedom Report on Germany, released in October, that the OPC
"has been'investigating' the Church of Scientology and Scientologists
for approximately four years. During that time, there have been no
prosecutions or convictions of Scientology officials in the
country...." Today's ruling applies to the state of Berlin, but is
expected to strongly influence other states in ending surveillance.

Since the measure was implemented in June 1997, Scientologists have
documented hundreds of human rights abuses against their members and a
host of "dirty tricks" by the OPC. These include agents attempting to
infiltrate churches, spreading false reports about Scientologists to
their employers to get them fired, sowing dissension between church
members in an effort to create turmoil within the Church, and even
trying to bribe Scientologists to bear false witness against their
fellow parishioners.

One notorious incident concerned Otto Dreksler, Chief of Operations of
the Berlin police force and one of its most senior officers. The OPC
incorrectly concluded that Mr. Dreksler belonged to the Church of
Scientology, based on a report from an agent who turned out to be a
former member of the notorious East German Secret Police, the Stasi.
Although the agent's Stasi membership was known to the OPC, based on
his evidence Mr. Dreksler was suspended from his job, his house,
office, car and personal computer raided and he was subjected to
social ostracism for a period lasting several months. Only after the
Church sued the Berlin Interior Ministry in connection with the
Dreksler incident, did the OPC capitulate and admit their error. Mr.
Dreksler was later reinstated, and sued and won damages from the
Berlin Interior Ministry.

In April 1998, Swiss authorities arrested an OPC agent who was caught
illegally spying on members of the Church of Scientology in
Switzerland. A Swiss court tried the agent on espionage charges and
sentenced him to 30 days in prison for spying and falsification of
documents, with two years probation. The court noted that his crime
had harmed relations between Germany and Switzerland.

The ruling today is the latest in a series of significant victories
for the Church of Scientology in Europe. Ten days ago, a Spanish court
dismissed all charges against Scientologists in a case that dated back
to 1984. In the last four years, Scientology has gained official
recognition as a religion in Sweden, South Africa and Venezuela, and
by the highest court in Italy.

Subj: [itheta-talk] Need help for VM course in Los Angeles
Date: 12/13/01
From: corin...@aol.com
To: ithet...@yahoogroups.com

Hi All!
I'm on the VM course (which, BTW, is fabulous, whether you're trained
or not. I've been in Scientology for 22 years and I'm quite trained.
It's still a course that all should do. It gives you a VIEWPOINT on
how to apply the tech to brand new public. And to yourself for that
matter, as it's an excellent refresher on all the things you know you
should do but don't... ;-) ) ANYWAY, as part of the course, I need
someone to do a PTS handling to someone who's been sick or had an
accident recently. I also need to help someone improve some area of
his/her life. It would be good if it could be someone not too far away
from where I live (near South Pasadena) or at CC Int where I'm doing
the course. In Hollywood or around the complex would be fine too. I
need to finish the course very soon, so thanks for any help in
locating that person. Love, Corinne Simon-Duneau
