I started a.c.t in 1993, and although I don't own it or control it,
I do exercise what power I can to keep it orderly and productive, and I
do have the authority of the readers behind me, most of whom respect me.
I have been running Lightlink Internet since April of 1995 which
includes news.lightlink.com and news2.lightlink.com. We have presently
about 10 newsfeeds from all over the world, but had upwards of 20 during
the heyday of news. We are a small leaf sight.

Slarty I am not fighting your position, because you are basically
correct, and net, bullying lord, knows has definitely taken its toll in
the history of a.c.t and a.r.s
But presently I believe most of the cross posting is not evil
intent, but merely thoughtlessness or selfishness. Some people think
their postings are so important trying to save us all from Scientology,
that they feel those of us lost on a.c.t need to know about how bad the
Church is too. Most of the others just don't notice the Followups line.
The problem was the response from the truely low lifes that
knowingly made things worse by cross posting complaints about the
event, and then trying to blame me for the deluge. Not ONE person
in the group has taken any responsibility for the mess at all.
Even if I had been totally in the wrong, a reasonable discussion
about the matter could have handled in 1/10 the number of posts,
and in fact I should have brought up that discussion in a.r.s
BEFORE hand and I apologize that I didn't.
Other's cross post good stuff, like Phil's posting about Aaron
Saxton which turned me onto the new videos that had come out. But the
downside was the endless followups that turned into a wave of noise and
gremlin chatter and cackels.

Telling a gremlin to desist will only make him louder because a
gremlin is not run by staid human decency but by a desire to make
trouble, be known, and cause exasperation.
Gremlins are all rights and no duties, spoiled silly so to speak.
Anyhow thanks for your support, I did make numerous mistakes in
judgement about various things, but the experiment did not prove
worthless.

limit) is an unwarranted intrusion on the privacy and property of
others. If you own a large piece of land and want to make loud noises

I disagree, these things are all part of social agreements.
If the park is deemed off limits by orindance then it is off
limits.
But more to the point, if you are in the park, and someone
puts up a soap box right in front of you, and you get up and move
and they move their soapbox again right in front of you, you probably
have a right to pursue a case of harassment.

Again, it depends on social agreements. Usenet has its
agreements, and in the early years misbehavior would warrant
calling up the controlling ISP and getting accounts pulled.

My take, in the early days everyone here came from varied
backgrounds with lots of different viewpoints and disagreements.
It took many years to get them all aired, and eventually people
like myself stopped posting because there was nothing more to say that I
already knew. Now I generally only post new things as my case and
auditing progresses, and that can go as long as month sometimes, as this
case level is very hard and very dangerous to body soul and health.
Other's took to private lists where the likes of KP couldn't
respond to everything with 'you are hallucinating' when in fact he was
at or below hallucination on the awareness characteristic scale.
But basically I think that everyone peaked out at known knowledge,
and those that are continuing to press the frontier are doing so in
private lists, not only to keep the clowns and gremmies out, but for
security sake.
Public forums give most people the willies.
They just don't want people to know what they know.
