"what do we want?"
"freedom!"
"where do we want it?"
"in Germany" / "everywhere"
"When do we want it?"
"now!"
then greetings, like "Hello to 100 people from Greece".
Etc, etc. For three hours. When they finally got moving, there was an
incredible chaos. Fotographers and TV teams were jumping on each other
to film the front row of the clam bigots. It was crazy.
Who was there?
The main mouth was (I was told) Andrik Schapers, a singer from The
Netherlands. But here he was rather a shouter. This guy looks like a
lumberjack, really scary. It is exactly the kind of people you need for
propaganda events.
Other people:
- Mike Rinder
- Isaac "I was famous once" Hayes
- Anne Archer (probably, I cannot remember her face, she has no special
look)
- The head of the celebrity center, Karen Hollander. Her hair looks as
crappy as on the pictures - it looks as if she does it herself.
- I also saw Götz Brase, the real estate shark
- Gisela Hackenjos (spokeswoman) was demoted "Ordner", i.e. security
person
- A mysterious woman in red
- A camera man that I think I remember from somewhere
- A grey haired guy who looks like a mafia hitman.
(hint: "fucking dickhead")
- Also in the front were two african americans I had seen at the SP
event
At a moment Mike Rinder was suddenly well ahead in the demo and was left
alone. Seems no one likes that guy??? I could not find anything to ask
him, so I didn't use the opportunity.
The horses, drummers and trumpteers were nowhere to be seen. The plane
with the banner was also not there, but that's because it's a troll.
(Because I had enquired about this, it would have been more than my
entertainment budget allows)
The slogans in the march were still the same, I think they had only
three. (Hey, they are scientologists - what would YOU expect?!) Andrik
Shapers was shouting into the megaphone, so the sound was less "What do
we want" and more "uuhh uuuh uuh uuuuuh".
They were marching real fast, so I got some good exercise.
The concert was at the Brandenburg gate, but at the "wrong" side (the
side where the gate looks like nothing). They did have power generators,
and the sound level was much too high.
I have three rolls of film, now I'll try to get some scanning
arrangements.

what is your 'good authority" Erin? You were obviously not there so you must
have gotten the figure from somewhere the CofS apparently claims there were
6500, the German police say 3,000. Where does your source of info come from?
If there were "non" scientologists in the crowd that makes the showing by
scientologists in general extremely shabby indeed. According to the cofs' own
propaganda there are thousands upin thousands - nay tens of thousands of
scientologists in europe.
How come not even 10% of them could be bothered to show up? its not like it s
a huge sacrifice for someone from Copenhagen - one day off work only.
So scientologists have proven that they cannot even get behind their own
bogus PR campaign.
The best that they can manage is little PR posters like you who a) didn't go
b) manufactures info to try and score points and c) seems to have trouble in
dealing with facts but has no problem with fantasy.
What a sad, tainted view, Tilman. Religious freedom for all
in Germany. That's the message. But to an atheiest, of course,
this is scary. Perhaps, just perhaps you *do* have an after
life and perhaps, just perhaps you *will* have to answer-up
to some supreme being.
Guess what. Not *all* of the marchers were Scientologists.
What a surprise. Other people want freedom, its just that
the Scientologists are willing to fight for it for themselves
and others.
And, my famiily and I are very glad they do.

Darn. I had guessed 2,000 at the most.
Monkeys, the Police estimated 3,000. Now then, Police , Wogs, etc.
cannot estimate like clams. When I pointed out to Mary Gay OT4, that
the vehicle count at the org was dramatically down, she said,
"I have my own reality and the org is expanding."
It is over! 3,000 gathered planet wide from the most able group on
the planet is a LOSS. It is pitiful. And the 3,000 represented more
than mere scientologists!
1993 at the New Years event held at the Shrine Auditorium there were
and estimated 5,000 clams. This was a real
'count-them-yourself-and-see' 5,000. They really were there.
November 1st will once again be revealing.

Fairly good authority? Do you mean scientology? The same people
who tell us that there's 8 million scientologists in the world
today? That thoughts have weight? That LRon was a nuclear
physicist when he really flunked out of college? That humans
descended from clams? That people low on the tone scale who
can't be brought up the scale should be done away with "quietly
and without sorrow"?
Nah. Couldn't be.

Ummm, so everyone who wasn't there *is* a nazi and doesn't want
freedom? Ooooh. No wonder Germany doesn't like your
money-grubbing little business organization.

But in your case is the supreme being going to be Xenu or
Source? You don't have any other religious belief do you? Are
you mixing practices? What if a person doesn't have $300,000 and
can't afford religious freedom through scientology? What if they
want to do some of the OT material but want to continue being
Catholic or Lutheran? Are you going to tell them about Xenu? Are
you going to let them "mix practices"?
>Guess what. Not *all* of the marchers were Scientologists.

That's quite likely true. Though the police did set the # of
people much lower than scientology did, though that's not
unusual. After all, they have been claiming 8 million members
for a long time now. The other people who want freedom were the
opposing protesters, ErinA. All scientology wants is the freedom
to make money, make money, make more money. It's a business
scam, pure and simple. Ask them about Xenu and the Wall of Fire
<tm>.

Of course we were "outnumbered" but 2 > 1 so this doesn't mean anything.
That the traffic stopped is normal - the traffic HAS to be stopped.
Demos in Europe are different than in the US. The traffic is always
stopped so that the demonstrators are safe.
There were over hundred journalists. There were also lots of people who
were against scientology but wanted to see what it is. Nevertheless I'd
agree that there were quite a lot of clams here. Schapers reminds me of
a hooligan leader. I hope I'd never been stuck in an elevator with this
guy.
Police says 3000. You can trust their numbers, they do this
professionally. Organisers have no "method" to calculate it - they are
there just maybe once or once a year.
According to Ursula Caberta, there has recently been a huge rise of
people leaving scientology.

What makes you think that I am an "atheiest"?
I am also for religious freedom. But this freedom means also the freedom
to criticize a religion.
>Guess what. Not *all* of the marchers were Scientologists.
True: me. I was marching at the front, even ahead of Mike Rinder.

I hope you had a good time, standing in the cold from noon till three. I
saw some nice people (even one scientologist!) there but also some real
creeps. Btw do you know who the woman in red was?
Anyway, Berlin is a nice city, and we welcome all guests. Even
scientologists. I'm sure everyone will have a nice stay.

$cientology is the "Never give a subjectivist an even break" religion.

The point is still that a pagan fun festival out in the middle of
*nowhere* got from 2-6 times as many people to come to it as scientology
could muster in a life or death struggle with the German government.

Nevada. Spelling is not my strongest point. But, Mike3, what gives you
the idea that I would be interested in a a seminar on Usenet flaming
techniques? Maybe to teach one perhaps. :-)
However, this set does point out the ability of Usenet to converge on
fact, even as trivial as spelling. If you have any question about
something which is said, watch the followups and see not if it is
confirmed, but it is refuted.

I got them processed. Sadly many of them are too dark - probably because
the light was from the wrong direction. I have found two volunteers for
scanning, but don't expect it to be on the net very soon.
