"Scientists have discovered a gene which may help explain the causes
of mental illness.
The ABCA13 gene is partially inactive in patients with severe
psychological conditions such as schizophrenia, bipolar disorder and
depression.
It is hoped that identifying genes which make people more likely to
develop psychiatric illness may lead to new treatments being
developed."
While the crimes of the SeaOrg disgust me, the glue that kept me
coming back to protest Scientology was LRH's misguided theories on
psychology.
Scientists have now found the gene. No that the gene has been
identified more effective treatments can be developed. It is
satisfying that this proof of psychiatric conditions was found.

Aye, I've been following this research for some time now... this
summer alone has yielded excellent information about genetic
abnormalities and mental illnesses such as bipolar and schizophrenia.
What amuses me most is that Hubbard stated in Dianetics that they
(scientology) have "no business" at all in the realm of genetic
disorders. Hear that CCHR? Take a hike.

There seems to be new hope for people who suffer mental illness thanks
to work carried out by Edinburgh University. Along with American
counterparts they claim to have found a gene which may be linked to
psychiatric illnesses which may allow new treatments for bipolar
disorder and depression.
To me, that’s something well worth investigating. Any attempt to help
treat illnesses which are often swept under the carpet or talked about
in hushed tones is a good thing.
Well, up to a point. There are some people – let’s call them the
Church of Scientology – who think that psychiatry is the root of all
mankind’s problems and that psychiatric medicines are a control tool.
So they have their own “alternative therapies”. Expensive therapies.
Therapies which pull families apart.

Actually genetics CAN cause illnesses, do cause illnesses, and have
been proven to cause illnesses. You still haven't answered my
questions about why doctors use genetics to detect things like tay-
sachs and cystic fibrosis.

developed out of this discovery, to be written up in a respected
medical journal and then followed by other scientists duplicating the
results.
That is the accepted, worldwide standard for any scientific discovery.
Would you please point me to the Scientific journal that contains the
article where independent scientists have duplicated Mr. Hubbard's
research and verified his results.
Until you do so, Mr. Hubbard's claims also are only at the "may"
stage.

RR? Why continue to attack someone, then walk away when confronted
like some kind of passive-aggressive asshole? You cannot discuss fact
and data, you resort roughly 80-90% of the time to personal attack
only. Why is that, RR? You state you are done with me, or that I am a
waste of time, then continue to attack.
You see, you sir cannot have an educated discussion with me about
current medical practices, medical theory and standards of care. You
even admit to not researching this, so its no real surprise that you
can only attack me as a person to distract from your lack of
knowledge.
Because you are embarrassed by this lack of knowledge and HAVE to be
right in order to maintain your delusion of superiority, you continue
to attack me out of spite. You hope that you will somehow embarrass me
and fish out what you as a scientologist assume to be my problem....

against scientology.
You see RR, you have a very fragile sense of self esteem and ego. That
is why you cling to scientology beliefs and practices... you think
they somehow make you superior over other people, particularly the
ones who dare to question your subjective reality. You NEED to be
better than others, which is why you prop yourself up as an expert on
any given topic... even when you know jack shit about it like
psychiatry. It is also why you cannot stop attacking me... you NEED to
be right and I consistently poke holes in your logic.
I'd suggest you get counseling for your deep obsession with being
"right" and your need to attack and belittle others, but you do not
believe in the value of good psychotherapy. I suspect you will never
even be fully cognizant of your own behavior. Every time you come
after me, you DO realize you just make yourself look like more of an
obsessive asshole, right? No? Well, that's pretty much the case. I
suggest that if you wish to retain SOME semblance of maturity/adult
behavior, you learn to walk away and ignore the temptation to
blatantly attack people for something as simple as disagreeing with
you. It is one thing to debate and discuss and not agree... it is
another entirely to attack a person repeatedly and without provocation
just because you think they are wrong.

posted before and you have admitted as such in the past. I have asked
you detailed questions that are directly from my research on dianetics
as well.... questions that you avoided in your previous replies to me.
I have posted links to data online that are similar to my own
research, links that YOU asked for and immediately dismissed without
checking them as "hero worship".
My ultimate question is not meant to discredit or attack really as I
wanted you to share your reasoning... why do you keep coming after me
hmm? You say that I'm not worth it time and again, yet you continue to
attack me personally and go back to your "you didn't post your
research" excuse whenever I ask you something specifically. Is THAT
really the reason for your continual attacks on me? That I didn't

Since you will not answer my question directly I have to make a
hypothesis using all available data and context clues. At this point,

I deny it because genetics are a solid science and far more believable

My research has been repeatedly acknowledged. You remain to have shown
nothing that can be considered properly researched materials.
I deal with facts, you deal with interpretation (faulty and biased as
such), and opinion.

not build a shrine to my own ego like you did. I brought up some of
the things from my research from memory. Actually many of my points
were perfectly valid, you just disagreed with them and therefore claim
it wasn't proper research. My research does exist, you just trivialize
