Does making donations to to real charitable groups that provide an accounting
of how they spend their funds count? An example being the Nature Conservancy;
they give a very good accounting of how they spend donations. If you did any
of the 6 things above then pat yourself on the back, you're helping to make
the world a better place. If your argument is that CoS engages in activities
1-6 it is good and since ARS people oppose CoS they are bad then that is what
some folks call a non-sequitir. I am one of them. I sincerely applaud the
Church of Scientology for helping educate children and promoting awareness of
the dangers represented by drugs. I hope that they are able to focus on these
efforts and learn to stop killing people with Introspection Rundowns. I also
hope that their motivation is as pure as you would have me believe.

People who use disasters to recruit the vulnerable are SICK.

The South African Ministry of Education has no knowledge of any such

Presumably you are speaking of the private psychiatric camps
established with cooperation of the apartheid regime wherein
blacks were subjected to gross human rights abuses and hired
out as slave labor. For ferreting out these camps and exposing
these abuses, we sincerely thank the CCHR.
Now, the fact that the victims of these abuses happened to be
black is really irrelevant, isn't it? CCHR's agenda is the
destruction of psychiatry, not the support of human rights
(except as it serves their purpose). How terriby convenient

cause.

The matter has been taken up with the Department of Education and
Culture as well as the Department of Education and Training who are
responsible for school education in South Africa.
Both denied any knowledge of the Church's involvement in formal
education in South Africa.
According to the Department of Education and Training, the Church of
Scientology tried to use a front organization in 1989, the so called
"Education Alive" but was not allowed to get involved in the
Department's schools.
I am afraid their claim of teaching 1.5 million children in South
Africa to read is just another fabrication.

Isn't it more a question of insisting upon "equal rights" for ALL AMERICAN

Consequences are difficult to separate from causes. Thanks to the efforts
made and struggles waged during the past 40 years many, many more black
Americans are college educated, are firmly established in the middle
class, and are thus more committed to the advancement of America as a
whole than they are to the advancement of their race in particular. Such a
developmnt is in *everyone's* best interests.

Here's another vote for becoming an RN. The money is pretty decent
(depending of course on where you're working). The original poster didn't
state if s/he had any other mouths to feed - but when you're flying solo,
you could get by working part time as an RN. Many institutions offer
increased pay in lieu of benefits, and evening/night/weekend differentials.
A caveat, though - when you are working, you're working HARD!!
