Actually, NOTs consists of New OT4 through New OT7, and replaces the
old OT4-OT7 described in the Fishman Declaration.
The theory is that OT3 got rid of the "easy" BTs, the ones who are awake
enough to be contacted telepathically without much trouble.
NOTs is for getting rid of the harder cases, like BTs who are
"asleep", or who have been addled by drug usage in their past lives.
The earlier NOTs levels are audited (done with an auditor); New OT7 is
known as "solo NOTs" because it is done solo, like OT3. Solo auditing
with a meter is tricky; you have to hold both cans in one hand and
work the meter with the other hand. There is a little plastic thingie
you insert between the two cans to hold them together without touching.

Are the NOTs that were HCOPLs in 1979-80 the same NOTs we're talking
about? To my recollection there's about 54 or 55 of them, numbered (the
version I have from xenu.net has #53 missing).

NOTs has nothing to do with NED. It's a totally different procedure.
And it addresses "dormant" BT's who haven't responded before.

23 is missing too. It was only a page, and an average of three out of
every six letters were obscured. However english is 50% redundant and
Hubbard used only a small vocabulary so I was able to unmask it. There
is a sample on dst's site. Some other folks were working on #53, but I
don't know how far they got. It is a waste of time to dig out stuff
about ridges and clusters of body thetans. If you want more of this
stuff just feed it through a generator like is being used for the
sporgery.

No, going Clear is just running locks on the R6 incident. OT II is
running out the implant phrases and images supposedly used in R6 -
called the "dichotomies". OT III is running out the body thetans on R6
and also Incident One that are still aware and can hear you. OT IV is
the OT Drug Rundown that wakes up the unconscious body thetans reasdy
for having New Era Dianetics for OTs run on them. This is OT V, also
called NOTs in which these now semi-conscious body thetans are run out
as well as dead encrusted ones which are scooped out and thrown away
along with your thetan hands. On OT VI and VII you run out more body
thetans that are stuck to you.

Nono, this is much more complicated than that. Clear is the first real
goal a scientologist have. To become Clear, and get rid of his/her
reactive mind, the engrams, and to get the shitty "Clear" bracelet. It's
in this stage most scientologists becomes trapped by the auditing highs,
endless hours on the can to erase the engrams. Engrams that they finally
realize that they never had in the first place, when they get their Clear
cog "I make up my reactive mind" The odd part is that they do not ever
cog on, and wonder why the hell they have paid megabucks to reach a
destination they already were at in the first place.
We have Dianetics clear, which only deals with engrams, and afaik only on
the first dynamic (The self-dynamic if you want). Then we have
Scientology Clear, which is something different than Dianetics Clear, but
I can't remember now the difference between Dianetics and Scientology
Clear (perhaps because I'm not clear). Maybe it has to do with being
clear on other dynamics as well.
OT levels on the other hand starts dealing with other dynamics, and it's
here we come in contact with our dear space aliens, or Body Thetans.
God, what a mess Hubbard created in his sick mind...

NOTES ON PTS
There are BTs who were PTS to successive persons; they went
from one person to another, e.g. BT went from Pre-OT's grandfather,

to mother and grandfather. And the Pre-OT was in contact with these
