Aside from your being up to date on your current events, it also
strikes
me as odd *personally* that this should be going on. As far back as
the
1970's I seem to recall a problem between the Australian government
and
the Church of Scientology.
Here is a small excerpt from the 1978 section of my web site:
"...The Australian government had put a ban in place that did not
allow
anyone in to Australia that was coming there to do business with
Scientology. Kitti and guest speaker Jody Marshall went to Australia
exclusively to sign Australian Scientologists up for new Flag services
that had just become available. The two of them lied to the Australian
customs office officials saying that they were going to Jody's
sister's
birthday party instead and as a result they were let in to the
country..."
Yet that was in the 1970's and this is 30 years later and the German
movement against Scientology is relatively new in comparison.

Dear Senator Xenophon,
I'm an American ex-Scientologist now living in Europe. I left nearly
30 years ago when Scientology was just starting to drift downhill into
despotism. But in retrospect, I see that was always there at the
highest levels.
Of course, I have no say in what happens in Australia, but I wanted to
make a suggestion regarding your proposed investigation: I think it
would be worthwhile to broaden it to include a section describing the
characteristics of what are generally called "high demand groups."
These consist of:
1. Purported religions like Scientology, Falun Dafa, the Moonies and
so on;
2. Secular "personal growth" seminars that can psychologically
destabilize fragile individuals; and
3. Multi-level marketing groups that rely primarily on "downline"
recruitment instead of sales.
A documentary called "How to Spot a Cult" will be airing in New
Zealand on November 25 and December 2. I understand from the producer
that it will also be broadcast in Oz soon, though I don't have the
specifics on that. It will also be available on the Internet after it
airs, so I recommend you take a look. Here is some information:
