Let me give you a reverse example of what they are doing in order
to make it easier to understand. If I were to put up a web site that
appeared on the surface to PROMOTE Scientology but I deliberately did
it ~wrong~ or "Squirreled" it as it's called in the church, it would
actually ~hurt~ the church of scientology, not help it.
What if I put up a web site that on the surface appeared to
promote Scientology but I deliberately inserted lies, exaggerations,
perverted statements, and crazy statements in it? What if I did it in
a way so people would discover them? What would they begin to think
about the church of scientology once they discovered them? Remember,
the readers of the web site will think the church of scientology put
it up. Once the lies and crazy statements were discovered, it would
make the person who discovered them want to move away from the church
of scientology not towards. That would be a form of reverse-promotion
that would drive people away from not towards Scientology. If you
wanted to hurt the church of scientology, "Squirreling" the promotion
of Scientology in this way would be one good way of going about it.
"Squirreling" or altering the promotion of Scientology is
something you would do if you were trying to hurt the church of
scientology. Did you know that promoting Scientology in the wrong
fashion is considered a ~high crime~ in the church of scientology? If
it weren't something that would hurt the church of scientology, why
would they make it a "high crime"? When L. Ron Hubbard sat down to
write the "crimes" and "high crimes" of Scientology, don't you think
that he made the all the things that would hurt him and the church of
scientology the most, "high crimes"? Promoting Scientology the wrong
way is considered a "high crime" in the church of scientology so
what's does that tell you about how damaging it can be to do that?
Ok. Now, if "Squirreling" or altering the promotion of
Scientology would hurt Scientology, wouldn't "squirreling" the
criticism of scientology hurt the real critics of scientology in the
same manner? Couldn't that same technique be used to hurt the critics
of scientology? What if I put up a web site that on the surface
appeared to criticize the Church of Scientology but I deliberately
inserted lies, exaggerations, bigoted states, perverted statements,
and crazy statements in it? Wouldn't people eventually discover them?
And what would they begin to think about the critics of scientology
once they discovered them? Remember, the readers of the website think
the critics of scientology put it up. Once the lies and crazy
statements were discovered, wouldn't it make the person who discovered
them want to move away from the CRITICS of Scientology? Do you see how
this technique can be used both ways?
Those "Xenu" web sites were designed to alter the criticism of
scientology in order to hurt the critics and enemies of scientology
not the church of scientology.
