In an article from the St Petersburg Times from December 2007, it is stated
regarding the drug Zyprexa: ". . . Some 30,000 people sue the manufacturer, Eli
Lilly. The pharmaceutical giant shells out more than $1-billion to settle the
cases.

Here comes the punch line:

Though studies show that kids are even more susceptible to Zyprexa's dangerous
side effects, now Lilly wants the government's seal of approval for adolescents
to use it. And the FDA is about to say yes. "

This is just mind boggling. Why would anyone in their right mind allow this
drug to be used for children when it was to create such horrid side effects in
adults? Crazy, crazy, crazy FDA - and pharma for even trying to get this
approval. It just goes to show you exactly where pharma has their attention -
their pockets, surely not the public they are supposed to be helping.

Well, I think you nailed it -- nobody in their right mind would give these drugs
to children. So, 30 thousand some-odd people have sued Lilly over damages
they've suffered from Zyprexa, and now they want the FDA's approval to prescribe
it for kids, and the FDA is about to say yes. Crazy, crazy, crazy.

Makes my head spin that Lilly would even consider requesting this!

It doesn't surprise me that Lilly is requesting approval. It's been long since
established that the pharmaceutical companies are heartless and soulless and
operate strictly on the basis of feeding their apparently insatiable appetite
for money (sounds like their psychiatrist chums, doesn't it). What makes my
head spin is that an agency that's supposed to be protecting the public would
even think of approving such an outrageous request. The FDA has apparently gone
completely mad.

The FDA needs to be swept clean and manned up by some ethical people who are
truly interested in the protection of the public. Now that would be something,
woulnd't it?
