To all of you at ARS, and to you all reading this from my Church,
as of this date, July 20th, 2000 I have officially left the Church.

Please do not call me, or come over to my house.

Any friends who care (and only those who do, please) e-mail me.

To the rest, good bye.

In the future, listen to Andreas. What he said last night....

Is what is true.

Magoo/ Tory Bezazian

Just a person (HA!) in Burbank....fooled ALL of you, huh? If you want to see
Magoo.............go to Xenu TV, and look at
Can Dianetics Cure Arthritus

The GIRL is Magoo!

LOLOLOL!

For those few who have helped me, thank you. For the rest....who I must say
have been a bit over the top, listen to Andreas. He is right, and he has helped
me the most,

Sure, I came on as a total "prick" this I know. And I did the LIE THERAPY, only
because I had 2 interet Accounts, and kept screwing them up. As you all so
cleverly kept pointing out. So I put in the "we" and "us" to CMA.

LOL

So there ya go. But July 8 or so, something cracked. I started reading and
loooking for the first time in phew............a LONG time.

I am Mid OT7 (was on it for 7 long years....and NO! Please do NOT call me,
FLAG, IT is SO over, and has been since DM announced we were only using 3 out
of the 59 tools. AT an audience of 1000's????/ COME ON MAN!)...and have been a
Scientologist for 30 years. Lots of fun stories. But as one party is over,
another one starts. So NOW will anyone meet with me? (from THIS group)?:)
e-mail ONLY.

And then, after being in debt 60K...from doing OT 7 for 7 years....now we are
told it will just be another 25K for each of us, to get back on.

RIGHT> makes sense, huh?

Well, I am off for now. Not sure what I will be doing, but I hope we will be in
touch again in the near future.

What Andy said is SO true, though....you have to learn to listen and watch for
clues.

I have been begging to meet with SOMEONE ANYONE for weeks now.

OK< sure, I have been my usual Magoo asshole....but between it, there WAS music
being played, and some of you have to learn to be better listeners.

Keep dancin....see ya all soon!

Magoo~really dancin now~

Also, I just lost my best friend because of this, and will no doubt lose most
of my dear friends, so please don't just be mean. I really do need to hear from
some of you that I have asked to talk with......

I'm proud of you Tory! :-)))))))

For the rest of you out there, take this opportunity to look
back. What happened, do you understand the process? It
happened right here in ARS. There are many more Tory's out
there and they could all use some clever and caring SP's to
find a safe harbor.

And *please*, think twice before jumping all over the next
Magoo.

Best wishes,

You're incorrect on this, David. Time to forgive Magoo and focus on Tory
who is a good person.

WOW. OK. But here's the thing, Tory...I'm not dancin'. This is a
sad day for you, and for your friends still in the Church. Sorry
I wasn't around to hear what Andreas said...doesn't matter,
really.

The point here, and I'm hoping that you grasp this and hold to
it for dear life over the next little while, is that we (I)
wasn't ever actually trying to talk you out of your beliefs.
Weird they may have been, but so's just about every
legitaimate "ism" on the planet, man. They are what they are.
Some (maybe not all) can and might still be VALID for YOU.

I think most of us(don't know quite who I'm speaking for here)
are big enough to give you that. Look at all the FreeZoner's
here.

It's not about whether ALL the Tech is wrong, or ALL the Tech is
right. It's about the ability to use it without cow-towing to
the God of Greed and Power that Hubbard set himself up to be,
and that Miscavige (or the US Gov't through the BOD RTC) have
carried on in Standard fashion.

I have never personally desired the destruction of the Church. It
may not particularily ACT like a religion yet...but there's hope.

Hubbard wrote that "the basic overt act is making someone else
want mest." And the fact that he can so boldy proclaim his
INTENTION of creating this condition for everyone on the planet
(what else is Co$ but the production and sale of MEST?)belies
the fact that he was, if not evil, then at least deeply sick.

You've got ears to listen to you, hearts to console you.
Don't give up now - you've taken your first step on the road to
real, meaningful freedom.

Would somebody please find me a rock so I can crawl under it and

My first instinct was to say "congratulations." But I realize that
this might sound somewhat inappropriate at a time like this. So,
instead, how about if I just say "welcome."

Welcome back to the wog world. Welcome to freedom from command grades,
freedom from registrars. And mostly, welcome back to congregation with
people who Scientology tries to teach are inferior. I hope it won't
take too long before you realize that this teaching is untrue.

I'd recommend that you try not to worry too much about the future of
your spirit and all that for right now. There's plenty of time to
straighten out all that later. But know that there really is life
after Co$. And it can be a very good life.

About a.r.s... You might already realize this, but a.r.s has shown
itself in the past to be, er, well, not the best place for newly
departed Scientologists, especially for those who are emotionally
distraught about the loss of an important part of their lives. I do
understand that this can be a very real loss for some people.

I don't know much about you. But be aware that you may need a grieving
period to put a little time between you and the things of the past.
Take that time. And take a little extra time for just resting and
relaxing. If a.r.s routinely upsets you, don't read it. Tune it out.

When you're ready, try to forgive all the people you think have done
you wrong, and especially be ready to forgive yourself, if you end up
seeing some of your own mistakes and feel bad or guilty about them. We
all make mistakes. Our character is defined by how well we learn and
grow from them. Out here in the wog world, you get second chances if
you happen to screw up, but you're genuinely sorry and you seek to
learn from your mistakes.

I truly and honestly want to assure you that in spite of the sometimes
frenetic and hostile surface that a.r.s shows to personas such as
"Magoo," there really is a lot of concern, caring, and desire to help
among the critics here. I know that sometimes that isn't the most
obvious thing... but we're especially sympathetic to people in your
shoes.

If you need something, help, information, even some money, or if you
just need a shoulder to cry on, hell, just ask. I think people here
will fall all over themselves to oblige you. They've done it in the
past for others. And I personally promise to help you in any ways I
can.

So, good luck, and once again, welcome back to the wog world. ;-)

Tory, I want to believe this. I really do.

But a few months ago, you were writing letters to the editor in
defense of scn.

And your husband's parents were in scientology.

And you say you how this doesn't blow your marriage and you're doing
this while he's traveling. (and you've been able to keep a marriage
going for 24 years pulling surprises like this?).

Your posts have outnumbered everyone else here by a long shot.

And the people you've wanted to talk to are pretty much the high
profile people around here.

I've already jumped on this bandwagon without thinking, but even
so....

Could you please post your resignation letter?

Then I'll feel a whole lot better and not like such a cynic.

That, in itself, doesn't strike me as at all strange. As Eric Hoffer
observed in _The True Believer_, and as others have observed in their own
experiences, it's people who are *insecure* in their beliefs, who have
nagging doubts, who make a big deal of promoting those beliefs in
public. Aggressive proselytization is really an attempt to convince
*oneself* that one's beliefs are worth holding. People who are fully
committed to their beliefs, and who have little or no doubts because
they've examined their beliefs, don't tend to preach; if they want to
"spread the word," they try to do it by setting an example. I rather
suspect that Tory's letters to the editor were her attempts to persude
herself to stay in.

I'm asking myself, what are we risking by believing in and trusting
others when they say they are out? I don't get it. Are we afraid
we'll loose credibility if it turns out someone have lied to us and
we believed them?

I'm willing to trust Tory on her word, regardless. It's not about
giving something away that you will not get back. I trust others
from the start, until it is proven that they are not trustworthy.

There will always be trolls, and the more we expect them the more
people will find it funny to create them for us. Just the which
hunt some start here on ARS when suspicion arises is enough for
CoS to send some in just to make us look bad. So what if we
talked friendly to a CoS troll, so what if we gave them trust
and listened to their story, so what if we made a good impression
to the visitors of ARS, so what if we were better examples than
the Scientologists we criticize???

What are we afraid off, admitting later that we trusted someone who
turned out to be lying to us??? So what?

Part of the problem with Garry Scarff has been you Sten, sorry

If that was the case then your attitude to it does absolutely no
good. If you're wrong you do more harm than good.

Even if you meet a really hard core scenio there is always hope
and those are the ones worth spending extra time on. There is
no point in making then dig deeper trenches, absolutely no point
at all.

She has admitted it to us and is willing to move on now. I
don't find it so very difficult to understand why she acted
like she did, while you obviously can't. Other than

gain...

What danger could a troll on ARS cause? I'll tell you. I CoS
troll could make us loose our grip and act like assholes. Or
they could fail because we treat them with dignity and show
others that we are here because we care. And that we really
have no secret agenda, we just honestly care.

I don't follow your logic here, Sten. You are the one

they would create the scams.

You can't take all the blame. A huge number of meaningless posts from
one or two identities is certainly not the way to make friends here.
Expecting readers to sift through the bullshit to find the "hidden
music" or whatever is nonsensical, as I felt these Magoo posts not worth
perusing very deeply.

Tory did exactly that. In hinting that 'something big' was coming,
knowing scientology, I figured whatever it was couldn't be good.
I was wrong. Just goes to show you how useless profiling can be! Of
course, it could have just all been part of Magoo's game, to make us
feel silly at the end. I don't feel silly, she could have been a bit
more forthright about it all. All that hinting around just annoyed me.

Agreed. I'll say this, if Magoo/Tory says she's out, then in my mind she's
out. As for trusting someone who we find out later has been lying to us, it's
part of life experience. Yes, Andreas, you are right.

Have you until today(or yesterday) been working for OSA?

It may be difficult to convince others that you can be trusted now.

A start would be to post to ARS all the inside information you have on

their currant ops.And past ones.If your for real congratulations.

The entire magoo thing is nuts and it smells very manic to me (and I

Maybe I'm a patsy but on the chance that somebody else needs help, I'm

I *really* want to see her resignation letter and her reasons for
leaving.

If she's real, she just threw away a 24 year marriage, and she's
pretty much on her own and about to start a new life.

Me, I'll take some risks to help. If she pulls me under, please throw
me a rope.

You're right, Andreas. Thanks for the wake up.

We can take some risks and trust a little.

It doesn't mean we give her the PIN code.

>Andreas *confirm* this?

I have never claimed that I can vouch for Tory,. I've said
that I trust her on her word in this case. If she tells me
she is out and asks for a talk then that is what our
relationship is based on. We have been talking by e-mail
and that's it.

>I *can't* believe I read this post despite telling magoo in

>after Andreas lets himself get conned.

Well if that's what it's all about then so be it. I'm not
claiming anything in this case but where I stand, and that
is that I am willing to take her word for it and if I in any
way can help her or anybody else through the hard times then
I will be more than willing to at least try to do so. If
being willing to listen and care on those terms is getting
conned then we disagree on that definition. I know very well
the odds here, contrary to what you and a few others seem to
believe. The whole debate is rather interesting.

I'm not betting my soul or my savings account, not even my
credibility IMO since I'm explaining very clearly on what
grounds I do this and in what way I'm involved. We're
different and we handle situations differently. Is it in
your opinion so bad if others are willing to listen when you
don't? Or do you believe that you know absolutely what is
right and what is not? I don't. Maybe there are someone out
there who would need an ear and a friend when you aren't
willing to offer it, will you still call that person conned
and one who has his brains turned into ScenioJelly?

If Tory would be fake, ask yourself what goals CoS would
have to create her. Are any of us likely to start sharing
ARSCC secrets with her? I didn't think there were any big
secrets among us. One of the big differences between "us"
and "them" is that we do this in the open and totally
disorganized. Would their goal be to infiltrate LMT for
example? Well let them try, I trust that the people at LMT
knows very well to what lengths CoS would go and aren't
going to start feeding critical data to someone just
because they declare on ARS that they've blown CoS. I
don't know what you guys out ther are imagining, but when
I say I choose to trust someone on their word that does not
mean I start feeding them my bank accounts, passwords to
internet accounts, personal communications with others, my
weak points, etc. For all I know you could be the OSA op
on ARS or I for that matter, but what is the point in
accusing anybody or treating them like they were before
you know? It's not likely that you and I are going
to exchange confidential data of any sort anyway, so why
should I not trust you as a friend? The way I operate my
involvement in this ordeal is to play with my cards open.
I have no master plan or dangerous secrets that CoS could
be interested in. I don't have to guard my words all the
time, except to honor confidentiality that I've promised
to others.

So why should I not give someone the trust they ask for,
as long as there could be a possibility that you are wrong
and they truly are sincere? What if I found Tory to be a very
nice person, behind all the things she's posted on ARS?
What if she truly was in the mess she says and needed a
little help? Are we better than CoS or not?

The alternative is simple: Scare away everybody, including
those we might have been able to help, or waste our
energy and time on a whitch hunt that has no other meaning
and result than pleaseing OSA who have managed to disturb
ARS and derail your attention. I'm _not_ going to jump onto
that bandwagon if I can help it and I believe that goes
for many critics of CoS.

You make your pick.

If anybody in her situation asks you to do something that could
"pull you under", then just say no. The help they are asking
for does not include anything like that.

For real? Hey, welcome back to the human race. Do talk to the
people at LMT, they won't eat you and they will not be angry that
you have been slagging them off before as part of your post.

If you have blown staff and need to re-contact family etc, there
are people behind the scenes who will help. Nobody will try to
"put you to work" as a critic: most ex-members just want out.

You're right.. no need for beating myself up. I can't help about
caring though - it's why I get angry with people who would take
advantage of others.

Anyway...

As for Tory, we'll know her in the end by her behavior. We can
give her the benefit of the doubt, limited by the tepid trust
she can only expect at this point.

Good. Sometimes, the job of a civilized person is to say "that's
unacceptable behavior", and while I hope to like Tory a lot and find
her an asset to the group once she chooses to return, Magoo earned the
response received, as I see it.

>well, except for the goatse thing, that was out of line.

It's cruel to administer a GENTLE dopeslap. I don't want to be MEAN,
but I DO want to make it unmistakeably clear when I see behavior I am
unwilling to accept. And if I am perceived as "mean" as a result,
well, I'll deal.

>All I want to say is "Wow."
>
>Anyway I won't be mean, I'll just stay out of the way.

I shall continue as I have begun. I will be "mean" when that seems
appropriate, and I will be gentle when THAT seems appropriate. And
because I'm human, sometimes I'll behave inappropriately. Since I
can't, being human, avoid that, it's just as well I accept it and try
to hear when people say "you blew it, fool!"

>Andreas is nicer than I am, glad you got in touch with him.

As I see it, there is room for both the overly-nice (I am NOT saying
Andreas is overly nice) and the overly-nasty (I am not saying either
ptsc or I fit there, consistently) in the wog world.

And just as I hope that if I go over the edge, I'll get dopeslapped
<ptock> with a hickory clue-by-four, if I determine that ptsc or Tory
or any of us have earned "grandmotherly kindness", I'll grin a
grandmaternal grin and DO it. Unless I find someone is locked into
victim-games, I assume people have the honor and honesty to take
responsibility for their actions, and I will treat them as I want to
be treated, which includes, now and then, the unwelcome message that
"that is NOT OK!" (Professional victims I generally plonk silently as
a waste of my time. Let someone else reach out to them -- I don't,
thank all the ghods, have to work alone.)

Tory (and the rest of you, too), I would like to ask a favor of you,
though we have no relationship that compels you to grant it: if you
believe that I'm behaving counter to my intent, which is to defend the
internet while leaving a door open for outbound scientologists, call
me on it. I don't promise to agree, I can't even promise to LIKE the
message, but I can promise to listen, think, and make my own decision.
I need, and will struggle to welcome <grin> input from people like
you, with vastly different experiences than my own.

Good luck to you, Tory, in reclaiming your freedom! I hope the next
year brings you more happiness than you can believe, and the one after
that still more.

Be good to yourself! You deserve it!

I say remember your real reason for being here. If you reach
your "goals" by acting your way then fine, I'm just of the
opinion that there are a lot of counterproductive things
done on ARS by critics I respect and believe share the same
basic ideas. I've done my errors and I've tried to learn

Congratuations, Tory. I am so proud of the fact that the cult no longer has a
hold on you and you were finally able to see the truth behind the lies.

I have a hard time talking to people about things that are dear to me if they
aren't willing to listen. Oftentimes we hide our insecurities behind our
attitudes. And the way I see it, those who post in here who are spitting venom
towards anyone who criticizes the CoS are just victims themselves, so I try to
ignore it for the most part.

I hope you were asking Ms. B. for that. :)

But if she doesn't come through, I'm sure we could write it ourselves.
And probably do a better job of it.

We know the purpose.
We know the major targets.
We know the target publics.

It shouldn't be too difficult to go from there.

I forget the format. Maybe I should clean through some of these old
boxes....

Let's give her a couple days. We already know she can't shut up.

Well, we're talking two different things. The Tech is garbage;

Excellent post, Andreas. You're absolutely right.

As long as nothing personal is at stake, it doesn't hurt to take a person at
their word. It only becomes complicated after that.

You are a high-priority OSA target, in my humble opinion.

Anyway, handle away, each in his own way--you know the score better
than me.

That'd be me. And I certainly cut Magoo no slack from the first post

True. Best leave the exiting Scienos to people who can give them
personal attention like the LMT. I'm certainly with you on that one.

Yup.

Speculations, just as the ones suggesting you were OSA is.

So what you are telling us is that your advice is to never
communicate with scenios, since they might be a plant?

That gives great hope for helping anybody....
