I have friends who have Ochun crowned, and two have the road who is
also listed as the wife of Orunmila, and a very similar patakin is
told about Ochun and her relationship to divining.
I have also been told that there is a patakin in which Oya was the
wife of Orula, but he divorced her because she killed all of his
enemies and people who might become his enemies (so she killed
everyone in town) while he was away.
I am curious about what odu these patakines are related to, if any and
what exactly is the history of Orulas relationships to female Orisha,
and divination.

The way I was told in my house Yemallá was the one who divined while Orula
was away. Acheba is the one who breaks plates, right?
But I also heard once in Cuba that Oshún was his wife who divined while
Orula was out of town.
But I think it really was Yemallá who got the caracoles for Santeros.
My mother in Santo is Okute.

Hi Josh,
Mayalewo is the one who breaks plates to keep away iku. Achaba is
sometimes called "rules and regulations". But some houses have her
sitting in a boat, and others on an Opon Ifa because of the patakin.
My godmother's Yemaya is Okute so I was born from Okute :)

Interesting, I was told tht Oya doesn't accept ram or sheep because they
protected her from Chango's wrath. (She hid under their bellies!)

They do not eat together during ritual. But as for tension - I will
only speak for myself here. I love all the Orisha, and they each have
a special place in my heart and I call on them for different reasons.
I have Oya, though I am crowned Yemaya. She was a powerful health
booster, and I respect very much her energies, her warrior spirit and
her mysteries. My husbands godmother is an elder priestess of Oya,
and she loves and adores Yemaya and says that Yemaya is the one who
takes care of her.
Sometimes tensions with other people are not Orisha generated - but
are "person" generated :)
jes my 2 cents
