Nsala Malecum and Greetings Tata's/Yaya's, Omo Orishas, Elders and
visitors.
I thought it would be worthwhile to post some Kongo art sites and
images so that visitors and others outside of Palo and other religions
discussed here might have a better grasp of the beauty and culture
which are found and encompessed in the African based religions. The
warrior aspects found in the nkisi nkonde carvings for example indicate
the strength and warrior aspects of the KiKongo culture. The beauty and
elaborate carvings of the Yoruba culture bring out in my opinion the
regal beauty and ceremonys of royality. I posted the following on
InquiceWeb guestbook, however I feel it would be appropriate and
worthwhile to post this here also. Perhaps the favorite and recommended
websites for this forum will include many of the african art and
exhibition sites which focus upon the Orishas and upon the Nkisi.

The tamarin.com site has posted the Nkisi Tsi fetish among other
fine Kongo art sculpture and carvings which for those that have not
visited their site may find interesting. Many of the carvings exhibited
are reportedly from the region of Mayombe, a mountainous forest in
Southern Congo which in many ways is similar to my current mountainous
home. The Nkisi Tsi fetishes made from Baboon and Gorilla skulls
represent the ancestors of the Vititi (Vili) Kongo clan that first
surveyed and formed the boundarys of that land. Their site can be
accessed thru http://www.tamarin.com/kongo/kongdire1.htm

Nsala Malecum, Benedicion and Greetings,
Here is another of my favorite sites for African Art Online.

The Heide Collection of African Art at the Legion of Honor, San
Francisco presents more than seventy pieces of African art online, and
they've got a way to let each visitor zoom in on whatever details you
choose. It's terrific! The San Francisco Fine Arts Museum is dedicated
to presenting all of their collections online, the Zoom feature permits
the views online to quickly view the thumbnail photos of these 70
incrediable African Art pieces from various Kongo, Yoruban and Ashanti
communitys. Then permit the viewers to Zoom in for very fine detail if
they so desire on a single carving or sculpture photo.
The addy is fairly complex to call the Heide Collection in its entirety
up and I'm only hopeful the deja format permits this addy to be
embedded into its format under the beginning of this paragraph.
I hope your'e able to visit this site and collection.
Blessings,
Malecum Nsala,

Greetings,
Apparently Deja didn't accept the embedded addy for the Heide
Collection and display commands. The easiest way to call this site up
is by entering this address http://www.artlex.com/ArtLex/a/african.html
and then scrolling down to the related links section where you can
choose the option to visit the Heide Collection.
Blessings to those that made these fine art works, Blessings to those
that go and appreciate their efforts for us all.
