>Discovering the Holy Ghost
Special Issue: New Testament
Discovering the Holy Ghost
By David H. Yarn, Jr.
David H. Yarn Jr., Discovering the Holy Ghost, Ensign, Sept. 1975,
John the Baptist, who prepared the way for the coming of the Lord,
contrasted his own work with that of the Lord when he said: "I indeed
baptize you with water unto repentance: but he that cometh after me is
mightier than I, whose shoes I am not worthy to bear: he shall baptize you
with the Holy Ghost, and with fire." (Matt. 3:11)
In the later Judean ministry, when Jesus taught at the temple in Jerusalem
at the Feast of the Tabernacles, he declared, "He that believeth on me, as
the scripture hath said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living
water." (John 7:38)
And John the Beloved explained: "But this spake he of the Spirit, which they
that believe on him should receive: for the Holy Ghost was not yet given;
because that Jesus was not yet glorified." (John 7:39)
About six months later, when the Lord taught the apostles after the Last
Supper, he said:
"These things have I spoken unto you, being yet present with you.
"But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my
name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your
remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you." (John 14:25-26 )
Then Jesus added other things the Comforter would do: "he shall testify of
me" (John 15:26 ); "he will guide you into all truth and he will shew you
things to come." (John 16:13)
Three days later, on the evening of the day Jesus was resurrected, he
appeared to the apostles and told them:
"As my Father hath sent me, even so send I you. And when he had said this,
he breathed on them, and saith unto them, Receive ye the Holy Ghost." (John
20:21-22)
After the resurrection, then, the risen Christ "shewed himself alive" [to
his apostles] by many infallible proofs, being seen of them forty days, and
speaking of the things pertaining to the kingdom of God. (Acts 1:3) He told
them, "ye shall be baptized with the Holy Ghost not many days hence" (Acts
1:5), and "ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon
you." (Acts 1:8)
Jesus had been crucified and resurrected at the time of the Passover, was
with his disciples 40 days after the resurrection, and the day of Pentecost
came 50 days after the Passover. So it was only a few days after Christs
ascension into heaven that the Holy Ghost came upon the apostles with great
power:
"And when the day of Pentecost was fully come, they were all with one accord
in one place.
"And suddenly there came a sound from heaven as of a rushing mighty wind,
and it filled all the house where they were sitting.
"And there appeared unto them cloven tongues like as of fire, and it sat
upon each of them. And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began
to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance. (Acts 2:1-4)
That was the magnificent introductory manifestation of the gift of the Holy
Ghost upon the ancient apostles to give them power from on high to assume
the responsibility for that dispensation of the gospel. But earlier prophets
had also enjoyed the power of the Holy Ghost, for the Lord has revealed in
our day that before he came, holy prophets spake as they were inspired by
the gift of the Holy Ghost as well as those who should come after. (D&C
20:26-27)
However, the gift of the Holy Ghost was not for the prophets and apostles
alone. As a result of a great sermon Peter gave on that day of Pentecost the
multitude "were pricked in their heart, and said unto Peter and to the rest
of the apostles, Men and brethren, what shall we do?
"Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the
name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the
gift of the Holy Ghost.
"For the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar
off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call." (Acts 2:37-39)
About 3,000 souls were baptized as a result.
From that time the apostles went forth endowed with power, and the Holy
Ghost was an active force operating in their lives. They spoke by the Holy
Ghost (see Acts 4:8); they preached by that gift (see 1 Pet. 1:12) and
taught by it (see Acts 10:45). They testified of Christ by the Holy Ghost
(see 1 Cor. 12:3), they discerned situations through it (see Acts 5:3), and
rebuked evil forces by the power of the Spirit (see Acts 13:9). Revelation
and scripture were given to them by the Holy Ghost (see Acts 10:19; 2 Pet.
1:12), and men were called to offices in the church by the gift of the Holy
Ghost. These were only some of the uses of that glorious gift in the New
Testament church.
Principally, all of those uses existed so that three things might be
accomplished: first, that the Holy Ghost might bear witness to those taught
the gospel by the Lords servants (see Heb. 10:15; 1 Thes. 1:5); second, that
people might be converted to the gospel (see Acts 10:44-48); and third, that
after repentance and baptism they might have hands laid upon their heads and
receive the gift of the Holy Ghost for their own blessing (see Acts 8:17).
There was a great variety of gifts of the Spirit that a righteous person
might enjoy personally after he received the gospel, or he might share the
benefits of the gifts others had. (See 1 Cor.12)
Another way of observing the pervasive influence of the Holy Ghost in the
lives of men and women who strive to associate themselves with the gospel is
illustrated in these brief summary teachings from the church established by
the Savior in the meridian of time:
(1) One can learn that Jesus is the Christ only by the Holy Ghost. The
Corinthians were taught, "no man can say that Jesus is the Lord, but by the
Holy Ghost." (1 Cor. 12:3)
(2) Acceptance of Christ as the Redeemer causes one to love God "the love of
God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost which is given unto us."
(Rom. 5:5)
(3) Paul recognized that a witness of Christ and the love of God are the
sources of hope, both in this life and in the eternities, and said to the
Romans, "Now the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing,
that ye may abound in hope, through the power of the Holy Ghost." (Rom.
15:13)
(4) The product or fruit of these things is joy, even in this life, for as
we are told, "the disciples were filled with joy, and with the Holy Ghost."
(Acts 13:52)
(5) The Apostle Paul defined even the kingdom of God in terms of the Holy
Ghost, for he said, "For the kingdom of God is not meat and drink; but
righteousness, and peace, and joy in the Holy Ghost." (Rom. 14:17)
A person might ask himself, "Why should I have faith in the Lord Jesus
Christ, repent of my sins, be baptized, and receive the laying on of hands
for the gift of the Holy Ghost?"
Carefully and prayerfully, study this answer from the words of the Lord:
"all men, everywhere, must repent, or they can in nowise inherit the kingdom
of God, for no unclean thing can dwell there, or dwell in his presence.
"Therefore I give unto you a commandment, to teach these things freely unto
your children, saying:
"That by reason of transgression cometh the fall, which fall bringeth death,
and inasmuch as ye were born into the world by water, and blood, and the
spirit, which I have made, and so become of dust a living soul, even so ye
must be born again into the kingdom of heaven, of water, and of the Spirit,
and be cleansed by blood, even the blood of mine Only Begotten, that ye
might be sanctified from all sin, and enjoy the words of eternal life in
this world, and eternal life in the world to come, even immortal glory;
"For by the water ye keep the commandment; by the Spirit ye are justified,
and by the blood ye are sanctified;
"Therefore it is given to abide in you; the record of heaven; the Comforter;
the peaceable things of immortal glory; the truth of all things; that which
quickeneth all things, which maketh alive all things; that which knoweth all
things, and hath all power according to wisdom, mercy, truth, justice, and
judgment.
"And now, behold, I say unto you: This is the plan of salvation unto all
men, through the blood of mine Only Begotten." (Moses 6:57-62)
The Lord tells us here that if we receive the principles and ordinances of
the gospel in the way we should, even in this mortal life we can enjoy the
presence of the Comforter, the record of heaven, and the peaceable things of
immortal glory, for they are given to abide in us.
Perhaps we should recall that when we had hands laid upon our heads to be
confirmed members of the Church and to receive the gift of the Holy Ghost,
the one officiating by the authority of the Melchizedek Priesthood called us
by name and at the appropriate time said, "Receive the Holy Ghost." Those
words were addressed to us as a charge or responsibility to so conduct our
lives and open our hearts to righteousness that we might be worthy to have
the Holy Ghost come unto us. From that moment we had the right to receive
the Holy Ghost, but he comes to us only as we manifest to God our desire and
readiness to receive him in our lives.
The Lord said, "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my
voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and
he with me." (Rev. 3:20) No doubt the Lord was also describing the influence
of the Holy Ghost.
How different is Satan and his unholy influence! He takes advantage of every
opportunity to force his way into any and every nook and cranny of ones
thoughts and life. In contrast, the Lord is a "gentleman" in the most
exalted sense of that word. He does not force his way into our lives. As a
gentleman he stands at the door and knocks. He wants us to invite him in. If
we will not get up and remove the latch and open the door, the very least we
can do is ask him to enter. Needless to say, we should be down on our knees,
pouring out our hearts and begging him to come in to us.
No doubt there are some, like the ancient Ephesians, who, when Paul asked
"Have ye received the Holy Ghost since ye believed?" responded "We have not
so much as heard whether there be any Holy Ghost." (Acts 19:2) Undoubtedly
there are many who have felt the precious influence of the Holy Ghost in
their lives, but for whom it has been an infrequent, even rare occurrence.
Even though it is a most sacred and priceless thing, surely it is the Lords
will that we have that holy influence in our lives continuously rather than
rarely. Even our sacrament prayers, which ordinarily are heard twice each
Sunday, assure us that Heavenly Father wants us to have the influence of the
Holy Ghost in our lives not only continually but continuously; that is, not
just again and again, but without interruption. In the blessing on the bread
we hear: "that they may eat in remembrance of the body of thy Son, and
witness unto thee, O God, the Eternal Father, that they are willing to take
upon them the name of thy Son, and always remember him and keep his
commandments which he has given them; that they may always have his Spirit
to be with them. Amen." (D&C 20:77; italics added.)
When the Lord explained to Nicodemus that being born of the water and of the
Spirit meant being baptized in water and receiving the gift of the Holy
Ghost, he compared the coming of the Spirit to the wind:
"The wind bloweth where it listeth, and thou hearest the sound thereof, but
canst not tell whence it cometh, and whither it goeth: so is every one that
is born of the Spirit." (John 3:8)
We might say it this way: when one feels the wind blow across his face he
knows it is present, he feels its influence; yet he doesnt see the wind,
doesnt know "whence it cometh, and whither it goeth." With at least
comparable certainty, when the Spirit rests upon one, he knows it is
present, and he feels its influence.
There always seem to be those who are like the multitude who stoned Stephen
to death. As he addressed them he said, "Ye stiffnecked and uncircumcised in
heart and ears, ye do always resist the Holy Ghost: as your fathers did, so
do ye." (Acts 7:51) No doubt there are others who, like Simon the sorcerer,
would like to have the power of the Holy Ghost if they could buy it. (See
Acts 8:9-24) And surely there are those who would earnestly like to have
that holy influence in their lives, but for some reason either havent had it
or havent recognized it. Perhaps the key to their need lies in these words
of Mormon to his son Moroni:
"And the first fruits of repentance is baptism; and baptism cometh by faith
unto the fulfilling the commandments; and the fulfilling the commandments
bringeth remission of sins;
"And the remission of sins bringeth meekness and lowliness of heart; and
because of meekness and lowliness of heart cometh the visitation of the Holy
Ghost, which Comforter filleth with hope and perfect love, which love
endureth by diligence unto prayer, until the end shall come, when all the
saints shall dwell with God." (Moro. 8:25-26)
To make these things possible, the Lord suffered incomparably for us. In his
own witness in this day he said: "Which suffering caused myself, even God,
the greatest of all, to tremble because of pain, and to bleed at every pore,
and to suffer both body and spirit." (D&C19:18) That unique suffering he
experienced in the Garden of Gethsemane, prior to the awful agony of the
trials and the crucifixion.
Even earlier, when he beheld Jerusalem, knowing the things the city would
have to suffer because of her sins, his great compassion caused him to weep
for her. (See Luke 19:41-48) The Lord wept over the sins of ancient Israel
and suffered for the sins of all mankind, including yours and mine. Yet, ask
yourself these questions: Have I wept over my own sins? Have I pled for
forgiveness? If I have been baptized and had hands laid upon my head to
receive the gift of the Holy Ghost, am I keeping the commandments, and do I
constantly recognize my dependence upon the Lord Jesus Christ, and pour out
my heart in loving gratitude for his mercy? If I have done these things my
life will at least begin to reflect that meekness and lowliness of heart
that prepare me to enjoy the presence of the Holy Ghost in my life. I will
recognize that influence even as I recognize the wind.
Of the "spirit of revelation," one of the gifts of the Holy Ghost, the Lord
has said in our day, "Yea, behold, I will tell you in your mind and in your
heart, by the Holy Ghost, which shall come upon you and which shall dwell in
your heart." (D&C 8:2) However, said he, "Remember that without faith you
can do nothing; therefore ask in faith." (D&C 8:10) Not only should we seek
the Lords guidance in all things, but we should realize that he expects us
to use the resources with which we are blessed to find solutions to our
problems, and then, having done so, seek his confirmation or correction. He
said, "Behold, I say unto you, that you must study it out in your mind; then
you must ask me if it be right, and if it is right I will cause that your
bosom shall burn within you; therefore, you shall feel that it is right. But
if it be not right you shall have no such feelings, but you shall have a
stupor of thought that shall cause you to forget the thing which is wrong."
(D&C 9:8-9)
In addition to any particular gift, there are at least five basic
manifestations we can discern as we witness the Holy Ghost in our lives: a
positive hope of eternal life because of the Lords atoning sacrifice; an
assurance of the truth of the gospel; his power in righteousness; a peace
transcending temporal things; and, in varying degree, the joy that belongs
to the eternal.
Knowing these things, or learning them, we should do everything within our
power in righteousness to help our children come to know them also, for to
be baptized and confirmed and then to routinely attend our meetings and
perfunctorily do our duties without enjoying the richness of the Holy Ghost
in our lives is like buying the tickets, dressing up for the event, going to
the theater, and then sitting in the foyer throughout the performance. The
Holy Ghost will be our guide if we will let him. In the words of the Lord,
he will be a "river of living water" flowing in us always. (See John
7:38-39) If we will do what the Lord has invited us to do, including having
virtue garnish our thoughts unceasingly, "The Holy Ghost shall be [our]
constant companion." (D&C 121:46)

By way of introduction, I've been LDS for about 13 years. I'm a financial
clerk, which is considered "bishopric" when the computer prints off the
different auxiliaries. And now to your answer.
First, disciplinary councils are held for one of a couple reasons. Most
commonly, either to help a member receive forgiveness for whatever
transgression has occured. Second, to protect the good name of the church.
Now, folks who have been called to a disciplinary council fall into one of
several categories. Some folks are angry "you can't do that to me". Some are
defiant "go ahead, you're just a church, do your worse". Some are uncaring
"whatever!" and some are in denial "What, it was just a little....." and
some are truly humble and seeking forgiveness "OK, let me know what you want
me to do".
A disciplinary council can be held at the ward/branch level, or in some
cases at the stake level. A ward council will be attended by the Bishop, and
his two counsellors. A clerk may be present to monitor the technical
details.
A stake council will be attended by the Stake President, two counsellors,
and 12 members of the high council.
Very generally stated, the procedure should be to have the leaders review
the matter. The person in question will be invited in to the meeting to
state his/ her position, and answer questions. The person in question in
most cases may bring a friend or someone directly involved to be with, or to
help answer questions.
The leaders present will be given oportunity to ask the person questions.
The person in question (and friend or helper) leave the room, and discussion
takes place. After some time the bishop or stake president will come out of
the meeting, and talk with the person in question.
Disciplinary councils can result in one of a couple verdicts.
1) No action
2) Probation
3) Disfellowshipment
4) Excommunication.
There is usually an invitation that the person should continue to attend
church services, and meet iwth church leaders every week, every other week,
or perhaps monthly.
In every case, the goal of the disciplinary council is to lead the person to
forgiveness in the sight of Heavenly Father.

Food Storage
Welfare Session
Food Storage
Bishop Vaughn J. Featherstone
Second Counselor in the Presiding Bishopric
Vaughn J. Featherstone, Food Storage, Ensign, May 1976, 116
Brethren of the priesthood, sisters of the Relief Society, President Henry
D.
Moyle suggested that when someone speaks we ought to get three things out of
the
message. First and least important (but still very important), we ought to
get
what is said. Second, and more important, we ought to have a spiritual
experience. Third, and most important, we should keep the commitments we
make to
ourselves. Lets write them down and follow through. Dont ever make a
commitment to yourself you dont intend to keepif you do, you weaken your
character.
For twenty-six years, since I was fifteen, I was involved in the grocery
industry. I learned much about human nature during those years. I remember
the
effects that strikes, earthquakes, and rumors of war had on many very active
Latter-day Saints. Like the five foolish virgins, they rushed to the store
to
buy food, caught in the panic of knowing that direction had been given by
the
prophet but not having followed that directionfearful that maybe they had
procrastinated until it was everlastingly too late.
It was interesting because only in Latter-day Saint communities did people
seem
to buy with abandon. It was not a few Latter-day Saintsit was a significant
number. It caused great increases in sales. One such experience came when a
so-called prophecy by someone outside the Church was greatly publicized.
How foolish we can sometimes be! We have a living prophet; we have Gods
living
oracles, the First Presidency and the Council of the Twelve Apostles. Let us
follow the Brethren and be constant. We need have no fear if we are
prepared.
Brothers and sisters, what have we done in our stakes and wards to see that
every Latter-day Saint has a years reserve of food to sustain life? Lets not
only keep teaching the principle, but lets also teach our people how.
This morning I would like to discuss food storage. Let me suggest three or
four
things we can do. Start by taking an inventorytake a physical count of all
of
your reserves. This would be a great family home evening project if youre
prepared. If not, it may be terribly embarrassing to you in front of your
family. Imagine how the powerful testimony you bear concerning a living
prophet
must sound to your children, who know that as a family head you have been
counseled for years to have a years reserve of food on hand. We need to know
where we are. Every family should take an inventoryget all the facts.
Second, decide what is needed to bring your present reserve levels to a
years
supply. Then make a list and prepare a plan. Consider first, what are the
basics?wheat (or grain from your locale), sugar or honey, dried milk, salt,
and
water. Most of us can afford such basics. Buy them from your monthly food
budget
allowance. The Church discourages going into debt to buy for storage.
Now that you know where you are and where you need to be, the third step is
to
work out a time schedule for when you will reach your goal. I suggest that
one
year from today we ought to have a years supply of food in all activeand
many
inactivemembers homes in the Church. Where food storage violates the law of
your land, then abide the law. However, even in those cases we can plant
gardens
and fruit trees and raise rabbits or chickens. Do all you can within the
laws of
your community, and the Lord will bless you when the time of need comes. Now
here are some suggestions how:
1. Follow the prophet. He has counseled us to plant a garden and fruit
trees.
This year dont just think about itdo it. Grow all the food you possibly can.
Also remember to buy a years supply of garden seeds so that, in case of a
shortage, you will have them for the following spring. Im going to tell you
where to get the money for all the things Im going to suggest.
2. Find someone who sells large bulk of grains, depending on your locale.
Make
arrangements to buy a ton or so of grain.
3. Find someone who sells honey in large containers and make arrangements to
buy
what you can afford on a regular basis or buy a little additional sugar each
time you go to the store.
4. Purchase dry milk from the store or dairy, on a systematic basis.
5. Buy a case of salt the next time you go to the store. In most areas, 24
one-pound packages will cost you less than $5.
6. Store enough water for each member of your family to last for at least
two
weeks.
Where the foods I mentioned are not available or are not basic in your
culture
or area, make appropriate substitutions.
Now you ask, Where do I get the money for these things? I agree we need
them,
but Im having a hard time making ends meet.
Here is how you do it. Use any one or all of these suggestions, some of
which
may not be applicable in your country:
1. Decide as a family this year that 25 or 50 percent of your Christmas will
be
spent on a years supply. Many families in the Church spend considerable sums
of
money for Christmas. Half or part of these Christmas monies will go a long
way
toward purchasing the basics. I recall the Scotsman who went to the doctor
and
had an X-ray taken of his chest. Then he had the X-ray gift-wrapped and gave
it
to his wife for their anniversary. He couldnt afford a gift, but he wanted
her
to know his heart was in the right place. Brethren, give your wife a years
supply of wheat for Christmas, and shell know your heart is in the right
place.
2. When you desire new clothes, dont buy them. Repair and mend and make your
present wardrobe last a few months longer. Use that money for the food
basics.
Make all of your nonfood necessities that you feasibly can, such as
furniture
and clothing.
3. Cut the amount of money you spend on recreation by 50 percent. Do fun
things
that do not require money outlay but make more lasting impressions on your
children.
4. Decide as a family that there will be no vacation or holiday next year
unless
you have your years supply. Many Church members could buy a full years
supply
of the basics from what they would save by not taking a vacation. Take the
vacation time and work on a family garden. Be together, and it can be just
as
much fun.
5. If you havent a years supply yet and you do have boats, snowmobiles,
campers, or other luxury possessions, sell or trade one or two or more of
them
and get your years supply.
6. Watch advertised specials in the grocery stores and pick up extra
supplies of
those items that are of exceptional value.
7. Change the mix in your familys diet. Get your protein from sources less
expensive than meat. The grocery bill is one bill that can be cut. Every
time
you enter the store and feel tempted by effective and honest merchandising
to
buy cookies, candy, ice cream, non-food items, or magazinesdont! Think
carefully; buy only the essentials. Then figure what you have saved and
spend it
on powdered milk, sugar, honey, salt, or grain.
The Lord will make it possible, if we make a firm commitment, for every
Latter-day Saint family to have a years supply of food reserves by April
1977.
All we have to do is to decide, commit to do it, and then keep the
commitment.
Miracles will take place; the way will be opened, and next April we will
have
our storage areas filled. We will prove through our actions our willingness
to
follow our beloved prophet and the Brethren, which will bring security to us
and
our families.
Now regarding home production: Raise animals where means and local laws
permit.
Plant fruit trees, grapevines, berry bushes, and vegetables. You will
provide
food for your family, much of which can be eaten fresh. Other food you grow
can
be preserved and included as part of your home storage. Wherever possible,
produce your nonfood necessities of life. Sew and mend your own clothing.
Make
or build needed items. I might also add, beautify, repair, and maintain all
of
your property.
Home production of food and nonfood items is a way to stretch your income
and to
increase your skills and talents. It is a way to teach your family to be
self-sufficient. Our children are provided with much needed opportunities to
learn the fundamentals of work, industry, and thrift. President Romney has
said,
We will see the day when we will live on what we produce. (Conference
Reports,
April 1975, p. 165.)
I should like to address a few remarks to those who ask, Do I share with my
neighbors who have not followed the counsel? And what about the nonmembers
who
do not have a years supply? Do we have to share with them? No, we dont have
to sharewe get to share! Let us not be concerned about silly thoughts of
whether we would share or not. Of course we would share! What would Jesus
do? I
could not possibly eat food and see my neighbors starving. And if you starve
to
death after sharing, greater love hath no man than this (John 15:13.)
Now what about those who would plunder and break in and take that which we
have
stored for our families needs? Dont give this one more idle thought. There
is
a God in heaven whom we have obeyed. Do you suppose he would abandon those
who
have kept his commandments? He said, If ye are prepared, ye need not fear.
(D&C 38:30.) Prepare, O men of Zion, and fear not. Let Zion put on her
beautiful
garments. Let us put on the full armor of God. Let us be pure in heart, love
mercy, be just, and stand in holy places. Commit to have a years supply of
food
by April 1977.
Bishops and stake presidents, let us accept the challenge on behalf of the
Saints in our wards and stakes. It will prove to be a very Christlike deed
on
your part. Follow through and check up one year from now and make certain we
achieve results.
In his October 1973 conference address, President Ezra Taft Benson gave some
excellent instructions about home storage:
For the righteous the gospel provides a warning before a calamity, a program
for the crises, a refuge for each disaster.
The Lord has warned us of famines, but the righteous will have listened to
prophets and stored at least a years supply of survival food.
Brethren and sisters, I know that this welfare program is inspired of God. I
have witnessed with my own eyes the ravages of hunger and destitution as,
under
the direction of the president of the Church, I spent a year in war-torn
Europe
at the close of World War II, without my family, distributing food,
clothing,
and bedding to our needy members. I have looked into the sunken eyes of
Saints,
in almost the last stages of starvation. I have seen faithful mothers
carrying
their children, three and four years of age, who were unable to walk because
of
malnutrition. I have seen a hungry woman turn down food for a spool of
thread. I
have seen grown men weep as they ran their hands through the wheat and beans
sent to them from ZionAmerica.
Thanks be to God for a prophet, for this inspired program, and for Saints
who
so managed their stewardship that they could provide for their own and still
share with others. (Prepare Ye, Ensign, Jan. 1974, pp. 69, 8182.)
I bear my humble witness to you that the great God of heaven will open doors
and
means in a way we never would have supposed to help all those who truly want
to
get their years supply. I know we will have time and money if we will commit
and keep the commitment. In the name of Jesus Christ. Amen.

Never Give Up
By Elder Joseph B. Wirthlin
Of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles
Joseph B. Wirthlin, "Never Give Up," Ensign, Nov. 1987, p. 8
I am honored to follow President Ezra Taft Benson. I love him as my friend
and leader. He is indeed our prophet, seer, and revelator.
In the context of my remarks today, perseverance means to continue in a
given course until we have reached a goal or objective, regardless of
obstacles, opposition, and other counterinfluences. What is our course, what
is our goal, and what are the obstacles and opposition that would hinder or
divert us?
Our course as members of the Church should be compliance with the principles
and ordinances of the gospel. Our goal should be to fill the measure of our
creation as sons and daughters of our Heavenly Father-that is, to reach
exaltation and eternal life. The obstacles and opposition we meet are the
temptations and enticements of Satan that are designed to frustrate the
Lord's work and glory: "To bring to pass the immortality and eternal life of
man" (Moses 1:39).
Perseverance is a positive, active characteristic. It is not idly, passively
waiting and hoping for some good thing to happen. It gives us hope by
helping us realize that the righteous suffer no failure except in giving up
and no longer trying.
When some people have a difficult job to do, they give up everything else
until that job is finished. Others just give up. The need to persevere is
expressed in the following lines:
"Genius is only the power of making continuous efforts. The line between
failure and success is so fine that we scarcely know when we pass it; so
fine that we are often on the line and do not know it. How many a man has
thrown up his hands at a time when a little more effort, a little more
patience would have achieved success? A little more persistence, a little
more effort, and what seemed a hopeless failure may turn into a glorious
success. ... There is no defeat except within, no really insurmountable
barrier save one's own inherent weakness of purpose" (author unknown, Second
Encyclopedia, ed. Jacob M. Brand, Englewood Cliffs, N.J.: Prentice Hall,
1957, p. 152).
We have numerous examples of perseverance in the scriptures, in secular
history, and in our own experiences.
Perhaps the best-known Old Testament example of perseverance is the story of
Job. As you know, it narrates the afflictions that befell a righteous man
and considers reasons for those afflictions. It does not entirely answer the
question of why Job, or anyone, might suffer pain and sorrow, but does state
clearly that affliction is not necessarily a sign of God's anger and a
punishment for sin, as Job's friends told him. The book suggests that
affliction, if not for punishment, may be for experience, discipline, and
instruction (see Bible Dictionary, LDS edition of the King James Version,
s.v. "Job").
I do not know of anything that members of the Church need more than they
need the conviction and perseverance of Job. He was a just man who feared
God and avoided evil. After the Lord allowed Satan to torment Job, his
afflictions included the loss of his seven sons and three daughters, the
loss of his wealth in flocks and herds and serious physical illnesses.
Remaining faithful to the Lord through his indescribable sorrow and
suffering, Job was able to say, "Blessed be the name of the Lord" (Job
1:21). "Though he slay me, yet will I trust in him. ... He also shall be my
salvation. ... For I know that my redeemer liveth, and that he shall stand
at the latter day upon the earth ... yet in my flesh shall I see God" (Job
13:15-16; Job 19:25-26).
The result of Job's perseverance is told in the conclusion of the story. The
Lord blessed him with a family, good health, and great possessions. He
continued in his course, despite unrelenting opposition, until he saw the
Lord (see Job 42:5).
The Book of Mormon is filled with stories of great people who endured to the
very end, from Lehi and his family through Moroni, the son of Mormon. The
life of Moroni is especially instructive in teaching perseverance. The
obstacles he faced may seem beyond belief to us. He saw the entire Nephite
nation destroyed by the sword in a terrible war because of the wickedness of
the people. His father and all of his kinsfolk and friends were slain. He
was alone for about twenty years, perhaps hiding and fleeing from savage
Lamanites who sought to take his life (see Morm. 8:2-7). Yet he continued to
keep the record as his father had commanded him.
As a result of his perseverance and righteousness, he was ministered to by
the Three Nephites, whom the Savior permitted to tarry until His second
coming (see Morm. 8:11). In these latter days, Moroni had the divine
commission of instructing Joseph Smith in his calling as the Prophet of the
Restoration and delivering the Book of Mormon record to him.
Joseph Smith's determination and perseverance is another good example. After
reading James 1:5, "If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that
giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him,"
Joseph knew that he must do as James directed or remain in darkness and
confusion. From the moment he knelt in prayer, he encountered enormous
obstacles and opposition. First, an evil, unseen power seized him. Then, he
wrote, "Just at this moment of great alarm, I saw a pillar of light exactly
over my head, above the brightness of the sun. ...
"It no sooner appeared than I found myself delivered from the enemy which
held me bound. When the light rested upon me I saw two Personages, whose
brightness and glory defy all description, standing above me. ... One of
them spake unto me, calling me by name and said, pointing to the other-'This
is My Beloved Son. Hear Him!' " (JS-H 1:16-17).
This marvelous event, near the start of the Prophet's mortal ministry,
proved to be a pattern in his life. He suffered ridicule, violent attack by
his enemies, betrayal by close associates whom he had trusted, forcible
separation from his loved ones, trial and imprisonment on false charges,
and, finally, martyrdom at the hands of a mob. Yet he remained true to the
charge he had received and served faithfully in his calling as the Prophet
to usher in the dispensation of the fulness of times. In addition to seeing
our Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ, he received instruction and counsel
from angels and other heavenly beings throughout his life.
Secular history also teaches the principle of perseverance. Winston
Churchill is well known for his determination as the leader of Great Britain
during World War II. On one occasion in his later years, he returned to a
school where he had studied as a boy. Before he arrived, the headmaster told
the students, "The greatest Britisher of our time is going to come to this
school, and I want every one of you to be here with your notebooks. I want
you to write down what he says, because his speech will be something for you
to remember all your lives." The elderly statesman came in and was
introduced. His glasses were down on the end of his nose, as usual. He stood
and delivered the following words from an immortal speech that he once gave
in Parliament. He said, "Never, never, never give up." Then he sat down.
That was the speech. It was unmatched (see "These Are Great Days," in War
Speeches, ed. Charles Eada, Boston: Little, Brown and Co., 1942, pp.
286-88). His message was indeed something to be remembered by every boy who
heard it and by each of us. We must never give up, regardless of
temptations, frustrations, disappointments, or discouragements.
I believe that perseverance is vital to success in any endeavor, whether
spiritual or temporal, large or small, public or personal. Think seriously
of how important perseverance, or the lack of it, has been in your own
endeavors, such as Church callings, schooling, or employment. I believe that
essentially all significant achievement results largely from perseverance.
By applying this principle, some of our finest legacies have been produced.
For example, John Milton was blind when he wrote Paradise Lost. Ludwig von
Beethoven was deaf when he finished some of his greatest musical
compositions. Abraham Lincoln was laughed at as a gangling, awkward country
boy who had many failures; but he became one of the greatest and most
eloquent presidents of the United States. Florence Nightingale devoted her
life to save the lives of countless wounded soldiers. All of these people
left a permanent mark on the world. Their example should give hope to all of
us. They succeeded not only because the Lord had endowed them with gifts, as
he has each of us in varying degrees, but because they applied themselves
steadfastly.
Of course, the ultimate example of perseverance is our Lord and Savior,
Jesus Christ, who has and will overcome every obstacle in doing the will of
our Heavenly Father. Indeed, Jesus is perfect in perseverance and has taught
us to be perfect even as he and his Father are perfect (see 3 Ne. 12:48).
Studying his life can help us learn and live this important principle.
From the time of the premortal council, in which Jesus became the Christ,
the Messiah, the Savior of all mankind, through his millennial reign, he has
and will persevere in perfection, doing all that his Father commanded.
Because of his love for us, he offered to fulfill the plan of salvation with
these words, "Father, thy will be done, and the glory be thine forever"
(Moses 4:2). How different from Satan's response to the plan: "I will redeem
all mankind, that one soul shall not be lost, and surely I will do it; ...
give me thine honor" (Moses 4:1). The conflict between the forces of good
and the forces of evil persists in the world today-with Jesus persevering in
striving to save souls, and Satan striving to destroy them.
During his mortal ministry, as the Only Begotten of the Father in the flesh,
Jesus again taught the gospel. At the beginning of this ministry, we see his
perseverance in one of the most stirring dramas ever recorded. He completely
overcame every temptation that the cunning of Satan could devise (see Matt.
4:1-11). After Jesus had fasted forty days and forty nights, gathering
miraculous inner strength, came a battle of opposing powers in the
wilderness of Judea. First, Satan tempted Jesus by appealing to the basic
appetite of hunger, asking him to transform stones into bread. Jesus held to
his divine course and refused. Satan next tempted the Savior to cast himself
down from a pinnacle of the temple, saying angels would protect him if he
were the Son of God. Jesus refused this request to misuse his divine power,
saying, "Thou shalt not tempt the Lord thy God" (Matt. 4:7). Satan seldom
gives up. He next appealed to a drive that causes the downfall of otherwise
invulnerable individuals-the almost irresistible hunger to have great
possessions. Satan showed all the kingdoms of the world and offered them to
Jesus if he would worship him. Jesus commanded Satan to leave, saying, "Thou
shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve" (Matt. 4:10).
This is the type of perseverance in the face of temptation that each of us
can and must exercise if we are to avoid the misery of sin.
Jesus persevered through the final days of his mortal life as the mood of
the people changed from shouts of "Hosanna to the Son of David" (Matt. 21:9)
to cries of "Crucify him" (Mark 15:13). He endured the indignities and
physical abuse of his trials before Jewish and Roman leaders. Through his
atonement and resurrection, he provided for all mankind both immortality and
the possibility of eternal life. He paid the penalty for our sins if we will
repent of them. How grateful I am for the effect upon me of his love and his
perseverance!
Probably few of us will face opposition and obstacles like those encountered
by the great ones I have mentioned. However, we each have our own challenges
and trials to overcome as we strive to keep on the right course. Often the
most important trials are those we must face and subdue privately within our
own hearts.
I bear testimony that perseverance is essential to us in learning and living
the principles of the gospel and that it will determine our progress as we
strive to reach exaltation. Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God. He directs
this Church. I am grateful to labor in his service and to be a special
witness of his divinity. The gospel has been restored in these latter days
through the Prophet Joseph Smith. President Ezra Taft Benson is our prophet,
seer, and revelator. May we follow his stirring address this morning. I bear
this testimony humbly in the name of Jesus Christ, amen.

What the Gospel Teaches
Elder LeGrand Richards
Of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles
Ensign, May 1982,
LeGrand Richards, What the Gospel Teaches, Ensign, May 1982, 29
I am proud to be a member of this great church, The Church of Jesus Christ
of Latter-day Saints. What an appropriate name for the true church of Christ
to bear in this, the dispensation of the fulness of times. I love the Church
because of what it teaches me.
Some years ago during the war, Elder John A. Widtsoe went to the land of
Great Britain to preside over the European Mission. When the immigration
official saw his papers and who he was, he said, "Nothing doing. We have
been letting your missionaries in, but we don't want any of your leaders; go
sit down." So Brother Widtsoe went and sat down.
In a few minutes, he called him back and he said, "If I let you enter my
country, what will you teach my countrymen?"
And Brother Widtsoe said, "I'll teach them where they came from, and why
they are here, and where they are going."
The man looked up at him and he said, "Does your church teach that?"
And Brother Widtsoe said, "It does."
"Well, mine doesn't," he said.
To me, that knowledge is worth more than all the wealth in this world. If we
don't know where we came from, and we don't know why we are here, and we
don't know where we are going, nor how to get there, we are just like a ship
on the ocean without a rudder, or a sail, or anyone to guide it. We might
keep afloat, but we would never come into port.
My church teaches me that I am a son of God the Eternal Father, and
therefore I have all of the attributes in embryo to develop like my Father,
just like my sons have become like me and I became like my earthly father.
The Lord stood in the midst of the spirits before this world was created. He
said there were many of the noble and great ones, and they couldn't be noble
and great if they hadn't done something to achieve nobility and greatness
before they were born here in this world. He said to those who were with
him, "We will go down, for there is space there, and we will make an earth
whereon these may dwell;
"And we will prove them herewith, to see if they will do all things
whatsoever the Lord their God shall command them."
Then he adds: "And they who keep their first estate shall be added upon; and
they who keep not their first estate shall not have glory in the same
kingdom with those who keep their first estate; and they who keep their
second estate shall have glory added upon their heads for ever and ever."
(Abr. 3:24-26.)
I thank the Lord that my church teaches me that I kept my first estate in
that spirit world or else I would have been cast down to this earth with
Satan and a third of the hosts of heaven. And the cry went out: "Woe to the
inhabiters of the earth for the devil is come down unto you, and he walketh
about, seeking whom he may devour." (Rev. 12:12; 1 Pet. 5:8.) And so the
fact that I kept my first estate entitled me to all the beauties and the
joys of this world that have been mentioned here in this meeting today. And
it gave me the right to have this body and maybe I can't appreciate as much
what that ought to mean to me as I do by reading the scriptures.
Then we read of when Jesus cast the devils out of the man who was possessed.
And he asked his name, and he said: "Legion," because legions had entered
into the man. And so eager were those devils to get a body that they asked
permission to take possession of the bodies of the swine that were feeding
in the field. And Jesus permitted it, and they ran off into the sea and were
drowned, as I remember about two thousand of them. (See Mark 5:1-17.) Just
think how eager those spirits were to get a body, and because we kept our
first estate we are now in our second estate.
I love the statement in the Bible where Enoch of old, that prophet who was
translated into heaven with his people, obtained the assurance while yet
here in mortality that he had pleased the Lord. (See Heb. 11:5.) I think by
the keeping of His commandments, doing all things, as the Lord said, that
the Lord God had commanded (see Deut. 12:32; Matt. 28:20)that we can get an
assurance that comes through the Holy Spirit that our labors are acceptable
to the Lord and that we have pleased him.
I thank Him for the many beautiful truths, many of which have been
proclaimed here today. This principle of eternal marriage I just can't
imagine living on forever and forever after I pass out of this life without
the companionship of my sweet wife and my children. How I thank God for
them, and for the knowledge that marriage and the family unit are intended
by Him, as proclaimed so plainly in the Holy Scriptures, to endure for ever.
Then I think of my children one by one (and I have over a hundred
descendants!), and I see what they are accomplishing and the nobility of
their lives, and I can hardly realize that I can be their daddy. I feel that
that is nearer to becoming a god than anything else I can do here in
mortality. And from the days of my youth and young manhood, I have tried to
live before those children and descendants of mine so that if they walked in
my footsteps they would be honoring their second estate and preparing
themselves to have glory added upon their heads forever and forever.
Then there are so many other beautiful principles of the gospel. When I
first became a missionary, I never met anybody who believed in a personal
God. My, what a joy to realize that Christ gave his life for us, and took
upon him the sins of the world as Paul said: "As in Adam all die, even so in
Christ shall all be made alive" (1 Cor. 15:22) and to know that his Father
is as real as my father, and that they have revealed themselves as two
glorified personages in this dispensation, after centuries of darkness, unto
the Prophet Joseph Smith. The Lord had him in waiting thousands of years
ago, according to the Book of Mormon, for his day and time to come, to bring
men to a knowledge of the truth and to bring forth his truth among the
people of this world. These are great truths, and many more can be taught.
When I wrote the book A Marvelous Work and a Wonder as a missionary tool, I
chose the statement of Isaiah when he said, "Forasmuch as this people draw
near me with their mouth, and with their lips do honour me, but have removed
their heart far from me, and their fear toward me is taught by the precept
of men." Then he goes on: "Therefore, behold, I [the Lord] will proceed to
do a marvellous work among this people, even a marvellous work and a wonder:
for the wisdom of their wise men shall perish, and the understanding of
their prudent men shall be hid.? (Isa. 29:13-14.) The message of this great
church is that marvelous work and a wonder that Isaiah saw would come forth
when men would teach for doctrine the precepts of men.
Being a missionary, as long as I have time, let me give you one or two
little missionary experiences to indicate what Isaiah meant when he said
that they would worship Him by the precepts of men.
As I finished my first mission over in Amsterdam, over seventy-five years
ago, I was invited into the home of one of the Saints to talk to her
neighbor. When my companion and I arrived, the neighbor was there but she
had her minister with her. We had a little difference of opinion on
priesthood, and right there he challenged me to a debate in his church the
next Saturday night.
When we arrived, the church was full; all of his people were there, and all
of our people. How our people found it out, I don't know; I didn't tell
them!
The minister stood up and said, "Now, inasmuch as Mr. Richards is a guest in
our church, we will accord him the privilege of opening this debate, and we
will each talk for twenty minutes. Is that agreeable with you, Mr.
Richards?"
I said, "Very much." I didn't tell him, but I would have given him the shirt
off my back for the privilege of opening that debate, and he just handed it
to me on a silver platter! I didn't know whether the Lord had anything to do
with it or not, but I thought He did!
Then I stood up and I said, "The last time I talked with my friend, we had a
difference of opinion on priesthood. Tonight I have come prepared to discuss
that subject, but I don't propose to start at that point. (This was one of
my strong points in my mission.) If you are going to build a house, you
don't try to put a roof on it before you get the foundation in." They agreed
with that, so I said, "I propose to lay the foundation of the gospel of
Jesus Christ," and I chose for my text the sixth chapter of Hebrews where
Paul said:
"Leaving the principles of the doctrine of Christ, let us go on unto
perfection; not laying again the foundation of repentance from dead works,
and of faith toward God,
"Of the doctrine of baptisms, and of laying on of hands, and of resurrection
of the dead, and of eternal judgment." (Heb. 6:1-2.)
I hurried over faith and repentance; I thought they believed in them. I
spoke on baptism by immersion for the remission of sin until everybody was
giving me accord.
Then it came to the laying on of hands for the gift of the Holy Ghost. And
they didn't believe that. I never found a church that did believe it outside
of our Church; they think the Holy Ghost comes just like the breezes that
blow over the head. I quoted them the passage saying that when the Apostles
at Jerusalem heard that Samaria had accepted the word of God through the
preaching of Philip, they sent Peter and John. And when they came, they
prayed for them, they laid their hands upon them, and they received the Holy
Ghost. And when Simon the sorcerer saw that the Holy Ghost was conveyed by
the laying on of the Apostles' hands, he offered them money, saying: "Give
me also this power, that on whomsoever I lay my hands, he may receive the
Holy Ghost.
"But Peter said unto him, Thy money perish with thee, because thou hast
thought that the gift of God may be purchased with money." (Acts 8:19-20.)
And then I gave them a few more references on the laying on of hands for the
gift of the Holy Ghost, and sat down.
The minister stood up and talked for twenty minutes, and he never once
mentioned a word I had said. He started on the Mountain Meadows Massacre and
the "Mormon Bible," and stated that Joseph Smith had admitted he had made
many mistakes; and then in a most courteous manner, he said: "Now if Mr.
Richards will enlighten us on these matters, I am sure this audience will be
most appreciative."
I was on my feet just like that. (My companion later said, "How did you
think so fast?" I said, "What have you been praying for all week?") I said,
"In the days of the Savior, his enemies tried to trick him with cunning and
craftiness. I don't suppose there's anybody here tonight that would like to
see us resort to those old tactics." I said, "If I understand a debate, it
is the presentation of argument and the answering of those presentations.
Has this man answered any of my arguments?"
Everybody said, "No."
I said, "All right, my friend, you may have your twenty minutes over again."
He couldn't do it, and I knew he couldn't.
Finally his wife stood up in the audience, and she said, "What Mr. Richards
is asking you is fair. You ought to answer him."
But he couldn't do it, and I said to my companion, "Stand up and give me my
coat and hat." I said, "One more chance. I am willing to remain here until
ten o'clock tomorrow morning, when we have to be in our own church, provided
this debate can go forward on the basis that you set it up. If not, I am
going to leave and ask my companion to leave and ask our members to leave,
and we will leave it with you to settle with your people for what has
transpired here tonight."
I met him on the street a number of times after that, but he would duck his
head so he didn't need to speak to me! Now that is what Isaiah meant when he
said they would teach for doctrines the precepts of men.
Now I will give you one more. Down in Quitman, Georgia, while I was a
mission president, I preached a sermon on the eternal duration of the
marriage covenant and the family unit. I had a chart there that listed the
churches and what their beliefs were on major things, and those were
official statements from the leaders of those different churches. And not
one of them believed that the family unit or the marriage covenant would
endure beyond the grave. I stood at the door when the meeting was over and a
man came up and introduced himself as a Baptist minister, and I said, "Did I
misquote you here tonight?"
He said, "No, Mr. Richards, it's just like you say. We don't all believe all
the things our churches teach."
I said, "You don?t believe them either. Why don't you go back and teach your
people the truth? They will take it from you; they are not ready to take it
from the Mormon elders yet."
He said, "I'll see you again." That's all I could get out of him that night!
Next time I went there, about four months later, he had read of my coming in
the newspaper, and there he was standing outside that little church. As we
shook hands I said, "I would certainly be happy to know what you thought of
my last sermon here."
He said, "Mr. Richards, I have been thinking about it ever since, and I
believe every word you said, only I would like to have heard the rest." (We
never get talked out; that's why I've asked Brother Benson to tap me on the
leg when my time is up!)
Now I will tell you one more if there is time for it. Over in Utrecht,
Holland, they had a seminary where they trained ministers, and the young men
who were studying for the ministry used to come and stand outside our
meetings and listen. And then when the meeting was over, they would come in
and argue with us.
I convinced one of those young men that baptism was to be by immersion for
the remission of sins, and the laying on of hands for the gift of the Holy
Ghost; he hadn't been taught that and he didn't believe it. He said: "Mr.
Richards, do you think the Lord will hold us responsible if we teach things
that we know are not in full accord with the Holy Scriptures?"
I said, "My friend, I'd rather let the Apostle Paul answer that question. He
said, "Though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you
than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed." (Gal. 1:8.)
We didn't have any more arguments then.
I think my time is up. God bless you all. I love the Lord. I love his
church. I love the Saints. I love them all. God bless you, I pray, and leave
you my blessing in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, amen.

HARRY POTTER AUTHOR USES IMAGERY FROM THE MOST
IMPORTANT ALCHEMY BOOK IN EXISTENCE, A BOOK WRITTEN IN 1459!
Read & try to understand how far does this book connected with witch craft
& teachings that leads us away from God. I know that the
author denies any relation to witch craft as she claim, is it true??
I dunno if any of you believes the existance of witch craft but I do &
all those things that they found are really compare to real things as
they have qoute from the real book. There's more then what I'll be qouting
here.
Title: HARRY POTTER AUTHOR USES IMAGERY FROM THE MOST IMPORTANT
ALCHEMY BOOK IN EXISTENCE, A BOOK WRITTEN IN 1459!
Subtitle: Rowling uses same imagery in her Harry Potter books as was
contained in the Alchemy book, "The Chemical Wedding of Christian
Rosendreutz", written in 1459. Using such an obscure book, known only to the
occult initiated, is one more strong indication Rowling does practice
Witchcraft.
We have stated repeatedly that the author of the Harry Potter books
knows her Satanism quite well. We have repeatedly pointed out where the
events and the scenes in her books are pure Satanism; in fact, they are
correct Satanism. She paints a perfectly correct picture in her books
of aspects of Satanism, she gets the spells right, she gets the
ingredients right, she understands the importance of drugs, and so on and so
forth.
In NEWS1485, we show you that Rowling uses the precise vivid colors
that are sacred to the Druid religion and to the Zodiac. We quoted former
Satanist -- now Born Again -- author, Cisco Wheeler, as she stated that
these sacred colors are used in Ritual Magick When a child allows
themselves to be caught up in childlike enthusiasm for the storyline
generally, and the vivid colors specifically, they set themselves up for
suddenly being contacted by a Spirit Guide one day! Rowling uses these
vivid colors right well!
Likewise, Rowling seems to draw her inspiration for several other
unique aspects of her novels from a very old, and very obscure, Luciferian
book entitled, The Chemical Wedding of Christian Rosendreutz , written
originally in 1459 and translated into English in 1690. This book is
the key foundational legend for the Luciferian secret society, the
Rosicrucians. Listen to a Rosicrucian explain the key importance of this
book to the practicing occultist.
"The 'Chemical Wedding' is one of the archetypal symbols of the
Alchemical transformation. There is much work about this subject by many
later mystics and authors. Manly Hall devoted an entire chapter
to this book in 'Secret Teachings of All Ages' ... The 'Chemical
Wedding/Marriage' is the basis for initiation rituals created by the
Rosicrucians. It represents the union of the person, the spirit and
society."
[Philosophical Research Society, Publications Department]
Wonderful! This book is the basis for initiation rituals for the
Rosicrucians. Once again, Rowling's true nature is demonstrated for all to
see. Despite her repeated denials that she is actively involved in
Witchcraft, we see that, in addition to displaying detailed and intimate
knowledge of Satanism, she now is demonstrating intimate knowledge of a
very old, very obscure book that is used as the basis of initiating
people into Rosicrucianism.
Before we get into the details of this story, let us examine what
Alchemy is, and why it is important to the practicing Satanist. The New Age
Dictionary defines Alchemy as a "quest for the secrets of life by the
transmutation of base metals into gold in the West; by discovering the
Elixir of Life in the East."
In the book entitled, "The Secret Doctrine of the Rosicrucians",
written in 1949 under a pseudonym, the author reveals that the primary
purpose of Alchemy is not to get rich by discovering how to change lead into
gold; rather, the primary purpose is mental and spiritual. He uses the
terms "Mental Alchemy" and "Spiritual Alchemy" [The Secret Doctrine of
Rosicrucians , Page 20]
This author also states that alchemical references to "sulphur",
"mercury", and "other chemical elements" leads one to the search for the
Philosopher's Stone [Page 16], which is also known as the Sorcerer's Stone.
This latter revelation is exceedingly important, because Rowling's
second book was called "Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone". In this
book, a quest is begun to discover the Sorcerer's Stone, out of which
comes the "Elixir of Life". In Chapter 13 of the Potter book, "Sorcerer's
Stone", we learn that Professor Dumbledore -- Headmaster of Hogwart's
School of Wizardry and Witchcraft -- had a long term relationship with
another sorcerer, Nicolas Flamel, who had perfected the Elixir of Life
through the process of Alchemy [Sorcerer's Stone, Page 219]. Thus,
Flamel had achieved the Sorcerer's Stone, and is depicted as having
original possession of it Then, in the next few paragraphs, we learn that
this Sorcerer's Stone possessed by Flamel produced the Elixir of Life, the
drinking of which would "make the drinker immortal" [The Sorcerer's
Stone , Page 220].
Finally, we learn that Flamel was 666 years old when he achieved the
Sorcerer's Stone and had first partaken of the Elixir of Life! [Ibid.]
Thus, Rowling correctly ties in the number of Antichrist with Alchemy
and its pursuit of occult eternal life, a very strong indication that she
is a practitioner of the Luciferian arts.
Now, let us see what types of things Rowling included in her Harry
Potter novels that come straight out of this most obscure Rosicrucian book,
The Chemical Wedding of Christian Rosendreutz.
1. Pictures on the wall that move as if they are alive
Harry Potter books -- in all Potter books -- the portraits hanging on
the walls move as if they are alive. "He was too sleepy even to be
surprised that the people in the portraits along the corridors whispered
and pointed as they passed ..." [The Sorcerer's Stone , p. 128]
"The castle was quiet ... they walked past muttering portraits and
creaking suits of armor ..." [The Chamber of Secrets , p. 83]
Thus, the portraits on the walls of the castle in which Hogwart's
School of Wizardry and Witchcraft was located were animated as if they were
alive. They moved around the portraits, and they spoke with one
another. In the above segment, the suits of armor were creaking because the
people in the painting were moving!
Further, each of the four fraternity houses on campus had only one door
that led into the house, and it was guarded by a talking portraits.
Each student had to give the person in the portrait the password for that
day in order to get into the fraternity house. "They didn't stop
running until they reached the portrait of the Fat Lady on the seventh floor
... 'pig snout, pig snout', panted Harry, and the portrait swung
forward. They scrambled into the common room and collapsed, trembling, into
armchairs." [The Sorcerer's Stone , p. 161]
"... at last they reached the passage where the secret entrance to
Gryffindor Tower was hidden, behind an oil painting of a very fat woman in
a pink silk dress. 'Password?', she said as they approached. 'Er
---', said Harry. They didn't know the new year's password ... almost
immediately, they heard hurrying feet behind them and turned to see
Hermione dashing toward them ... 'Skip the lecture', said Ron impatiently,
'and tell us the new password'. 'It's wattlebird', said Hermione ... the
portrait of the fat lady swung open ..." [The Chamber of Secrets , p.
83-84]
When I originally read this little detail of the Potter books, I was
mildly amused, for I thought such a creation was a delightful bit of
imagination. Never did it enter my mind that talking and moving portraits
on a wall might have its roots deep in Satanic soil. Now, let us
examine that soil.
In the book, The Chemical Wedding of Christian Rosendreutz , written in
1459, we find the Rosicrucian hero, Christian Rosendreutz, in the
fabulous castle of the King and Queen of the Super Celestial Sphere. This
castle was called the "House of the Sun". I find it very instructive
that the castle might have this name since Rosicrucianism worships the Sun
and its consort, the Moon.
Little does Christian realize that the reason he has been invited to
this castle was to personally witness the reincarnation of six lesser
kings and their wives through the process of Alchemy.
As Christian is walking down the corridors of this heavenly castle, he
noticed something really strange on the walls. "... there were up and
down the room wonderful images, which moved themselves, as if they had
been alive ..." [Page 29]
Now, I understood from whence Rowling had gotten her idea of talking
and moving portraits! She pulled this detail from a book that was now
over 500 years old! The only people who read this type of book are the
initiates and adepts of Luciferian secret societies, or people studying
the same. Rowling clearly is so familiar with secret society secrets, I
find it highly likely that she is a member of such a Luciferian
society.
2. The Fabulous Beast In The Harry Potter book -- PRISONER OF AZKABAN
In this third Harry Potter book, Harry, Ron, and Hermione, are
introduced to a class called "The Care of Magical Creatures". The
instructor
was a huge giant named Hagrid. Even though the creatures in this class
were strong, dangerous, and unpredictable, Hagrid loves them dearly,
and tries to get his students to appreciate them as well.
One of Hagrid's creatures is an unusual combination of animals. This
creature "had the bodies, hind legs, and tails of horses, but the front
legs, wings, and heads of what seemed to be giant eagles, with cruel,
steel-colored beaks and large, brilliantly orange eyes. The talons on
their front legs were half a foot long and deadly looking." [The
Prisoner of Azkaban, p. 114]
So, the head, front legs, and wings of this creature were that of a
giant eagle; but, the rest of the animal was a horse. This combination
creature was called a "Hippogriff". Hagrid told the students about this
animal. "Now, firs' thing yeh gotta know abou' hippogriffs is, they're
proud ... Easily offended, hippogriffs are. Don't ever insult one,
'cause it might be the last thing yeh do ... Yeh always wait fer the
hippogriff ter make the firs' move ... It's polite, see? Yeh walk toward
him and yeh bow, an' yeh wait. If he bows back, yeh're allowed ter touch
him. If he doesn't bow, then get away from him sharpish, 'cause those
talons hurt." [Page 114-115, Prisoner of Azkaban]
Harry and his friends take a liking to the hippogriff, whose name was
Buckbeak, and at the end of the book, the hippogriff saves Harry and his
friends from Voldemort by letting them ride on his back as he flew them
to safety.
In The Chemical Wedding of Christian Rosendreutz , Christian witnesses
a very unusual battle in the castle between two creatures. "In the
interlude, a lyon and griffon were set at one another, to fight, and the
lyon got the victory, which was also a pretty sight." [Page 31; Spelling
retained from the original]
My Tormont's Illustrated Dictionary defines a Griffon as a "fabulous
beast with the head and wings of an eagle and the body of a lion."
Rowling created her fabulous creature with the head and wings of an
eagle all right, but substituted the body of a horse instead of the
traditional lion's body. But, just to make sure that "those in the know"
understood that she had taken her inspiration from The Chemical Wedding ,
Rowling called her fabulous creature a "Hippogriff", undoubtedly taking
it from the name, "Griffon", in the original story.
Once again, Rowling displays a unique knowledge of very ancient, and
critically important, Luciferian legend as she draws from this
Rosicrucian legend inspiration for her Harry Potter books.
3. The playful spirit that hovers over the castle playing tricks he
thinks humorous
In the Harry Potter books, Rowling has invented a "playful" spirit
creature she calls Peeves the Poltergeist! Peeves loves to flit around the
school classrooms and dormitories of Hogwart's School, playing tricks
and pranks that he feels is "funny". Getting students into trouble is
also Peeves' role in these novels. Listen to some of the dialog:
"But as [Professor] Filch lowered his quill, there was a great BANG! on
the ceiling of the office, which made the oil lamp rattle. 'PEEVES!'
Filch roared, flinging down his quill in a transport of rage. 'I'll
have you this time, I'll have you!' Peeves was the school poltergeist, a
grinning, airborne menace, who lived to cause havoc and distress.
Harry didn't much like Peeves ..." [Harry Potter and The Chamber of Secrets
, p. 126]
In The Sorcerer's Stone , Harry, Ron, and Hermione were sneaking around
the Charms Classroom area in the middle of the night seeking to duel
Malfoy in a Wizard's Duel. Suddenly, Peeves spotted them, and realized
they were breaking a whole lot of school rules by just being in the
corridor. The action picks up:
"They hadn't gone more than a dozen paces when a doorknob rattled and
something came shooting out of a classroom in front of them. It was
Peeves. He caught sight of them and gave a squeal of delight. 'Shut up,
Peeves -- please -- you'll get us thrown out.' Peeves cackled.
'Wandering around at midnight, Ickle Firsties? Tut, tut, tut. Naughty,
naughty, you'll get caughty'. 'Not if you don't give us away, Peeves,
please'. 'Should I tell Filch, I should', said Peeves in a saintly voice,
but his eyes glittered wickedly. 'It's for your own good, you know'.
'Get out of the way', snapped Ron, taking a swipe at Peeves -- that was
a big mistake. 'STUDENTS OUT OF BED', Peeves bellowed. 'STUDENTS OUT
OF BED DOWN THE CHARMS CORRIDOR'." [p. 159; Emphasis was in the
original]
In the Rosicrucian book, The Chemical Wedding , Christian saw this
exact type of spirit flitting around the King and Queen's House of the Sun.
"... we were to attend the Royal Persons up the winding stairs into the
forementioned hall, where the tables were already richly furnished, and
this was the first time that we were invited to the Kings table. The
little altar was placed in the midst of the hall, and the six fore-named
royal ensignes were laid upon it. At this time the young King behaved
himself very gratiously towards us, but yet he could not be heartily
merry; but howbeit he now and then discoursed a little with us, yet he
often sighed, at which the Little Cupid only mocked and playd his
waggish tricks ... Almost all the prattle at this banquet was made by Little
Cupid, who could not leave us (and me indeed especially) untormented.
He was perpetually producing some strange matter." [P. 33; spelling
left as is in the original; "Waggish tricks" is defined by the dictionary
as "playfully humorous".]
So, Rowling took her Peeves the Poltergeist who loved to torment
students and faculty alike from the Little Cupid spirit tormentor in The
Chemical Wedding !
4. Mythical Creatures Identical in Harry Potter and The Chemical
Wedding
In The Sorcerer's Stone, Rowling features "bright-white" unicorns
living in the Forbidden Forest. In the latter chapters, Hagrid takes Ron,
Herminone, Harry and Malfoy into the Forbidden Forest to try to discover
who is killing these unicorns. Let us pick up the action:
"Harry thought the blood seemed to be getting thicker. There were
splashes on the roots of a tree, as though the poor creature had been
thrashing around in pain close by. Harry could see a clearing ahead,
through the tangled branches of an ancient oak. 'Look', he murmured,
holding
out his arm to stop Malfoy. Something bright white was gleaming on the
ground ... It was the unicorn all right, and it was dead. Harry had
never seen anything so beautiful and sad. Its long, slender legs were
stuck out at odd angles where it had fallen and its mane was spread
pearly-white on the dark leaves." [The Sorcerer's Stone , p. 255-256]
In The Chemical Wedding , Christian Rosendreutz describes the scene in
the garden in which he saw the unicorn for the first time. "Thus the
garden which so lately was quite full, was soon emptied; so that besides
the souldiers there was not a man left. Now as soon as this was done,
and silence had been kept for the space of five minutes, there came
forward a beautiful snow-white unicorn with a golden coller (having in it
certain letters) about his neck ... and so the unicorn returned to his
place with joy." [Page 20-21; spelling is printed here as in the
original]
In The Chamber of Secrets, Rowling gives a prominent place to the
mythical, legendary Phoenix Bird. In the battle of The Chamber of Secrets ,
Harry is saved only by the intervention of Dumbledore's Phoenix Bird,
Fawkes. The Phoenix Bird attacked the serpent's eyes, putting both of
them out, causing blood to splatter far and wide. But, this heroic
action allowed Harry to escape, and eventually defeat the snake. [Pages
318-320] Then, the Phoenix Bird visually motioned to Harry to grab hold
of his tail feathers, and let him pull him out. So, Harry grabbed hold
of the tail feathers of the Phoenix, and Ron grabbed hold of Harry's
robes, and the bird miraculously pulled the two of them out of the
Chamber of Secrets to safety. [Pages 324-325]
In The Chemical Wedding , Christian sees a "glorious Phoenix" in the
Castle of the Sun [P. 21]
Further, on the Sixth Day -- out of Seven -- Christian Rosendreutz and
other adepts watched a sacred egg open up and a bird come out. At
first, this bird was weak and bloody, and then he molted to a black color
after drinking human blood, and then he molted into a snowy-white color,
and then into a beautiful array of various colors. His demeanor also
changed during these physical transformations from wild to tame.
Then, the adepts put the bird into a bath of milk-white liquid. This
bath took off all his feathers, so the adepts painted him a bright blue
color. The Adepts took this bird up to the upper floor, where the bird
was placed near an altar and given a good drink. Suddenly, the bird
attacked the white serpent who had been living in the death head, making
the serpent bleed profusely. [P. 44-45]
I wonder if Rowling did not meld these two story lines together, for
the Phoenix Bird did attack the monstrous green serpent in The Chamber of
Secrets , making him bleed profusely as she blinded his eyes.
5. Both Castles were bounded by huge lakes capable of carrying large
ships
Rowling created the Hogwart's School of Wizardry and Witchcraft so that
a large lake bounded by the school. Rumors circulated about the
existence of a large sea monster living within the lake. In The Goblet of
Fire , a large ship carrying the Wizard Masters of the occult training
school, Durmstrang, to Hogwart's to attend the Triwizard Tournament of
Champions. A huge ship carrying the Durmstrang students came out of the
deep waters of the lake to moor next to Hogwart's. [P. 244-247]
In The Chemical Wedding , the House of the Sun is also bounded by a
huge lake. After the six lesser Kings and their Queens are beheaded in a
ritual, night falls, and Christian Rosendreutz falls asleep in his bed.
Suddenly, he is awakened by a very bright light, and springs to the
window to investigate. He sees six ships coming to dock at the castle,
floating on the lake. The coffins of each King and Queen were loaded,
one set of coffins per ship. Then, the ships departed for Mt. Olympus,
where they were returned to life according to the precepts of Alchemy.
[p. 34]
Thus, in three out of the five points of commonality between Harry
Potter books and The Chemical Wedding , Rowling has chosen unique and very
old occult legends to use in her books. Especially choosing the
pictures on the wall that seem alive and the Griffon-type creature called a
Hippogriff are dead giveaways that Rowling drew her inspiration from
this very old, but very important, Alchemical book of the Rosicrucians.
Just as she used the vivid colors sacred to obscure and
nearly-forgotten Celtic Tree Calendar [NEWS1485], Rowling has used very
distinctive
parts of an equally obscure and nearly-forgotten book of Alchemy to
insert into her novels. Rowling knows her Witchcraft thoroughly and
correctly, and now we see she has probably taken her inspiration for certain
elements of her books from obscure Satanism, the kind only a practicing
Adept in the occult would know.
No matter which way you choose to look at the storyline of Harry
Potter, you can see the same pattern emerging loudly and clearly: Rowling
weaves strong, correct Satanism in her storyline, the kind of Satanism
only a practicing Adept would likely know. She has become the Pied Piper
of today's young children, and is leading them straight into the arms
of the Wicked One.
Truly, Jesus was correct when He foretold that the spiritual love for
Him and His truth would be so watered down at the End of the Age that
very few people would actually be saved and practicing The Faith. Your
children are under attack by Harry Potter books. Are you ready to
battle your kids for their own soul?
Are you spiritually ready? Is your family? Are you adequately
protecting your loved ones? This is the reason for this ministry, to enable
you
to first understand the peril facing you, and then help you develop
strategies to warn and protect your loved ones. Once you have been
thoroughly trained, you can also use your knowledge as a means to open the
door of discussion with an unsaved person. I have been able to use it many
times, and have seen people come to Jesus Christ as a result. These
perilous times are also a time when we can reach many souls for Jesus
Christ, making an eternal difference.

Subject: "How to Become a Cult Guru!" -- Revealed at Last! (for Art, et al)
Date: Monday, October 06, 2003 1:40 AM
How to Become a Cult Guru
by Phil Milstein
Becoming a cult leader is not as tough as you might think. All it takes
is a little charisma and some insecure, feeble-minded followers. The
reasons you might wanna become one are many -- it pays well (and all of
it tax-exempt), you get lotsa nookie, you can get other people to do
your laundry, etc. As a cult guru, it is kind of tough to get health
insurance benefits, but that's really about the only downside to a
career as a leader of men, women and bastard offspring. What follows,
then, is a set of E-Z instructions by which you can soon amass your own
group of pasty-faced, glassy-eyed sycophantic no-hopers who will do your
bidding for you.
Rule #1: Confidence = Charisma
To be a messiah you don't have to be big (Charles Manson was only 5'2"),
you don't have to be smart (David Koresh had an IQ of 89), and you don't
have to be good-looking ('though it doesn't hurt). All you have to be is
confident, to the absolute. Once you've established your basic set of
core beliefs -- your schtick, as it were -- no matter how ridiculous
they may be, entertain no doubts and brook no arguments. They are truth,
and by extension so are you. Remember that everyone you meet is, deep
inside, like a scrawny branch wavering in the stiff wind of life, just
waiting for a big tree to sprout up alongside and protect them. Be that
tree.
Rule #2: Charisma is Relative
To be charismatic, you don't have to be JFK or Madonna. There are always
people more impressionable than yourself, and as long as you can find
those people, you too can have charisma, even if those feebs are the
only ones who sense it. This has been the key to the cult equation from
Christ to Koresh.
Rule #3: Cultivate Your Schtick
For better or worse, it's no longer sufficient for the potential guru to
simply spout chapter and verse from the King James. People can get that
kind of stuff anywhere -- there's way too much competition in the
straight Jesus field, and most of the others are much better at it than
you'll ever be. The trick is to find an angle, some niche, and it
needn't even involve the Good Book.
Keep in mind that it doesn't really matter what tripe you feed your
troupe, so long as you feed it to them with unswerving conviction. I
read about one guru down in Australia who has nine wives and 69
children, and all he ever preaches to them about is equal rights for
women and Hawaiian culture!
Armageddon is always an excellent lynchpin around which to hang a
schtick. One cult out in California is building several of its own
rocketships, the better to escape the coming End Times with.
There's an audience of willing believers out there for almost any kind
of manifesto. Take one that already exists, add a few elements from
another, twist it into you own words and presto, you've got a dogma
worthy of any small band of mayonaisse-eaters. Try telling people you're
the reincarnation of Mahatma Ghandi and you've been brought back to
earth to preach the Encyclopedia Brittanica. Or that Albert Einstein
comes to you every night to interpret the Quran. Libertarianism and
survivalism are red-hot these days, so you might try thinking along
those lines. Use your imagination and above all, believe in what you say
with everything you've got.
Rule #4: Finding the Feebs
Locating your marks is one of the easiest steps in building a cult of
your own, because they practically grow on trees. A favored method is to
figure out a particular personality that might be most prone to falling
for your schtick, and go after that type exclusively.
To paraphrase Elvis, white trash is as white trash does, there's no
in-between, you're either with it all the way or you've blown the scene.
In other words, try the laundromat. Down at the local suds parlor you'll
find oodles of brain-dead scum, just sitting around twiddling their
thumbs and spitting pumpkin seeds. Perfect cult fodder. An idle comment
can lead to an innocuous conversation can lead to a subtle introduction
to your confidence, your magnetism and, ultimately, your compound. Play
your cards carefully and you can put out three or four successful
invitations to your next communal dinner and/or prayer session per load
of laundry. And before long they'll be doing your laundry for you.
You needn't end your search at the laundromat, of course. Remember the
Elvis dictum, and go where the feebs go, especially where they're most
likely to have time on their hands and be more susceptible to your
interest in them. Bingo parlors are good. Little league games, too.
Bowling alleys and pool halls. White-bread church services. BBQ pits.
Seek out those who seem to be alone, and those who act like whipped
pups. Manson preyed on teenage hitchhikers, 'though you won't find too
many of them these days. Koresh went after Australians. Again, use you
imagination; think like your potential victims think. Don't rule out
ethnics. And above all, remember that no matter how dumb you are, most
of the population is even stupider, so almost everyone you meet is worth
your consideration.
Rule #5: Winning Them Over
Since you've already stereotyped your prey, you can now devise a formula
approach that will be most effective with that type. Brainwashing is OK,
I suppose, but it merely attacks the person's superficial belief system
and not their fundamental beliefs, so it is inadequate for long-term
devotion. To truly capture the body you must truly capture the mind, and
the first step in doing so is to figure out your mark's weaknesses.
Think big -- decide if they're insecure, alienated, feeling unloved,
etc. A big fat juicy sucker will most likely exhibit symptoms of all of
these and more, and be ripe for the picking. The specific weaknesses
will differ from person to person, so stay flexible, but you should be
able to select one general scheme and stick with it for everyone.
Once you've sussed out the Achilles heal, your formula will practically
devise itself. Whatever your potential followers' needs are, give to
them in grand, exaggerated gestures. If they want for food and shelter,
provide them with sumptuous meals and a comfortable bed, and make sure
they know they can stay as long as they like. If it's love they long
for, you cannot possibly show them too much of it, and passing a little
pooty their way couldn't hurt, either. If it's spiritual fulfillment
they're after, go all-out with the holy-holy routine. If lack of
self-esteem is the problem, tell them over and over again how good they
are, how worthy of being alive. Lie as much as seems necessary, and
don't be afraid to pounce on any and every vulnerability they might
display.
Those already won over to your way will be most helpful in seducing new
recruits. Surrounding the mark with love and devotion and making your
group seem like the happy family the poor schmuck undoubtedly never had
will quickly fool them into believing wholly in everything you say.
During the indoctrination phase gradually begin giving them chores to
do, thus making some use of them while also keeping them too busy to
question what's happening to them.
Before long you will have the poor sap eating out of your hand, ready to
do anything you say, even die for you if necessary. Unless you rescued
them from the gutter then they should have some money and worldly
possessions for you to take over. If they are pleasing to the eye and
approximately of the gender of your preference, then so much the better
-- you've got another sex slave for your harem.
Rule #6: Sticking Around
You, being a sane, grounded individual, do not want to go up in a blaze
of Apocalyptic glory --- not yet, anyway. You have found the perfect
occupation to suit your meager skills, and you intend to keep the game
in play for as long as possible. Achieving this takes gaining a certain
measure of legitimacy, as reaching a breakwater level of antagonism
towards the authorities will cause you more trouble than you really want
right now.
In the cult game, the simple equation is: Longevity + Growth =
Legitimacy. Simply sticking around, all the while gradually adding
numbers to your membership tally, is just about all it takes to keep the
heat off your back. All the Roman Catholic Church is is a cult that's
managed to stick it out a couple thousand years, and as you slide down
the cult chronology the legitimacy level slides down accordingly. At the
next level are the acceptable Protestant churches: your Lutherans, your
Methodists, your Baptists, your Calvinists, etc. Next level down you
find those groups that were begun during your grand-parents' and
great-grandparents' time, such as your Seventh Day Adventists, your
Mormons, your Jehovah's Witnesses, your Christian Scientists. These
groups by now have earned a certain grudging respect, whereby society in
effect says to them, "We don't really like what you do, but you've
gotten away with it thus far so we'll let you keep getting away with
it." The longer you get away with it, the less hard time they'll give
you.
Down one more step on this evolutionary chain of worship are those
formed during your and your parents' day: your Scientologists, your
Moonies, your Krishnas, your Larouchites. They are ill-regarded by
mainstream society, but groups in this category have grown large enough
that they are now difficult to fight. In recent years Rev. Moon and
Lyndon Larouche have each been convicted of felonies and done time in
the pokey, while the elusive founder of Scientology, L. Ron Hubbard, was
persecuted, in absentia, for years after he had died! Yet their
respective followings continue to thrive.
Finally, we come to the upstarts. These are the groups that are still
officially classified as "cults," and are the ones we have mostly dealt
with in this guide. They are young, small, hungry, and often nasty.
Society hates them. You will be in this category for quite some time,
and therefore I recommend you keep a low profile for the duration. If
you've got what it takes, you can eventually begin the incremental climb
up the ladder of religious respectability. If you do your job real well,
perhaps one day your group will find itself joining the world's major
religions upon the lofty perch of untouchability. But it can't possibly
happen in your lifetime, so don't make it your primary goal.
And that's all there is to it. Six easy steps and you're on your way to
a life of leisure and possible immortality. Best of luck, my friend, and
may God be with you. > > is a clear indication of the gravitomagnetic London
