Solidarity is a good thing, particularly amongst the downtrodden, in
which category surely the oppressed masses of Kibology reside. As is
self-determination, stickin' it to The Man, and general cussedness.
Also, though I could hardly be considered a proper dead-head, I do
count myself a fan of John Perry Barlow (and really, who doesn't?)

And yet... Even were Xcott not one of my kind (and even were he not
at the grandest old place of all or whatever they're calling it now),
and even were not Mr. Barlow's organization responsible for my
geek-badge bumpersticker, even so the very RIAA itself would yet be
driving me to local music. Sell me b0rken CD's and then call me
"frivolous" for being angry about it, eh? Screw you, then, AND the
DMCA you rode in on.

And so it's local music for me, as much as possible. Last night:
ilyAIMY. (whaaa???) I can't decide if the name is insanely stupid or
incredibly clever. There's such a fine line between them. Folk-y
jam-band-y percussive stuff. 6 people, 5 of whom are playing rhythm
of one sort or another. Wooo!

Anyway, after the show I was talking to the leader/frontman ("Rob"),
and he noted that he enjoyed seeing the guy at the front of the
audience (that would be me, in this case) rocking out. "I'm a rocker.
I rock out." I said. Hah! Diesel Sweeties! Indie Cred! Alas, he
did not know of Diesel Sweeties, and yet he knew that the phrase
needed to be said even more deadpan than I managed. So he's cool.

Plus he invited me to a jam last month. But I had to cancel, because
I had to, um, verify the integrity of our country's northern border.
Probably that was a good thing because it would have been very
embarassing to jam with the type of folks he hangs with. Yipes!

Also, there's little blobs of yummy chocolate goodness splattered all
over my stove.

Why not just add a line to your .sig that says, "I'm into a
lot of strange, freaky stuff that no one else understands"?

Listening to live local music is stealing. Sources estimate that
Britney Spears personally loses $1,000,000,000,000 every year from
people who stole from her by listening to local bands instead.
Call it what you like but you can't deny that it's wrong!

This afternoon I had this weird nightmare in which I had to play
guitar and sing some Jesus and Mary Chain song I haven't listened to
in probably a decade or so. Actually, I have verified by consulting a
Jesus and Mary Chain fan Web site that my nightmare song was a mixture
of two Jesus and Mary Chain songs -- the verses of "Her Way of
Praying" mixed with the chorus from "Head On". What does this mean
for my career prospects?

I'm sorry, I used all my Kontext-Away yesterday and can't restock for a bit.
Would you mind ever so saving this line for later? Thanks, ta!

Just like honey, except for the bits of barbed wire. Alas, Hope
Sandoval is probably indifferent at this point.
