The Sidney Moaning Harold has this to say about cool:
http://www.smh.com.au/articles/2002/12/04/1038950092024.html

->"Although much has been written in both psychological and marketing
->literature about its mystique and its importance to brands, 'cool' has
->not been defined before," Mr Ferrier says.

I THINK NOT!

Cool \Cool\, n.
A moderate state of cold; coolness; -- said of the
temperature of the air between hot and cold; as, the cool of
the day; the cool of the morning or evening.
[1913 Webster]

->Mr Ferrier set out to identify how those qualities were identified by
->Australians aged 18 to 26. His study group nominated examples of cool
->people, and then asked what they admired about them. He concluded
->there are five separate factors that people identify with coolness:
->self belief, defiance of convention, understated achievement, care of
->others, and energy and sociability.

I left this bit in because this gives the secret to being 'groovy'.

->Self-believers John Lennon and Russell Crowe are regarded as cool
->because they are seen as confident enough to "fit into most social
->circles while enjoying a strong internal sense of control". (The
->research was conducted before Crowe's brawl in a London restaurant.)

HAW HAW, Crowe should have SISSIED OUT of the bar fight, so as to avoid
being considered UNCOOL. Cool people cower under a table whimpering for
their mummy.

->And what about Mr Ferrier himself? Is he cool? Definitely not, he
->says. But he is trying to be.

There is a fundamental flaw in this particular sample group. Can you
spot it?

I am imagining a battery farm full of Tuxes and Pokeys. They are cruelly treated
during their mercifully brief lives, killed by a machine so ruthlessly efficient
it takes the breath away, butchered, shrink wrapped, delivered to the
supermarket, then selected for purchase by the mother of the cop who appears in
the Daft Punk filmclip I'm hijacking. She then makes a serve of PENGUINE ALLA
MATRICIANA in the traditional style of her neighborhood back home in Bolivia.
The meal is accidentally delivered to Kibo who spills a little bit on his
keyboard in his haste to rip off acb's Flicker.
