My friend's daughter Catherine was a student at CUNY Law School until January
1999, when she took a retreat yoga class with Integral Yoga of NYC in Yogaville,
Virginia and never returned home. She suddenly left her family, her boyfriend
(they were to be married), and school. She suddenly changed her religion to
Hindu, changed her name legally to a Hindu name, and married a 51 year old swami
who she knew for only 2 weeks. By the way, she NEVER acted like this ever
before!! She also began telling her parents that they had beaten her constantly,
when in fact, her relationship with her parents had always been OK. Her life
now? She is a devotee of Swami Satchidananda, the founder of this Institute and
of its retreat in Yogaville, Virginia. Her family and friends haven't seen her
since. Her family's story is on the internet at
http://www.freecatherine.com. It
has been discussed on the national media, in the New York Post, and will soon be
discussed in national magazines as well. Please tell all of your friends and
acquaintances to beware of this "yoga school" that is truly a religious
organization that uses dubious methods of recruiting its members. Don't let this
happen to you or your loved ones!
