CBI nabs two selling antique
``Holy Quran''

NEW DELHI: The Central Bureau of Investigation has
arrested two persons in Pune, Maharashtra for possessing a

rare piece of ``Holy Quran,'' said to be worth Rs 45
lakhs,
agency sources informed on Monday.

The antique branch of CBI conducted a surprise check
after receiving a information that two Pune based persons
were trying to sell the antique cultural property for Rs
45
lakh.

On inquiry it was found that the two alleged accused,
identified as Dr Vijay Kumar Thakre and Ashish Sadashiv
Bhavekar, had plans to smuggle this rare piece of ``Holy
Quran'' out of the country.

Following a raid conducted at a hotel in Pune, the sleuths

recovered the holy book. Both the alleged accused were
arrested and produced before the CBI designated court
which remanded them to judicial Custody till November 2,
the source added.
