What do Hindus believe that a person in this life who is in a low caste
has to do to reincarnate into a higher caste in their next life ?
There will always be caste systems of one type or another in the world
regardless of all the reform movements to get rid of them. The establishment
is impossable to change i.e. witness the failure of marxism and socialist
revolutionary movements around the world. Therefore the question has to be
not how can the world be saved , but rather How can I be saved ?
So what do Hindus believe that a lower caste person has to do to be
reborn into a higher caste or to escape the cycle of reincarnation period.
I cannot accept that its all about doing good works and piety , since the
Brahams abuse the lower castes in India just as the wealthy abuse the poor in
America
therefore it must be something else other then piety and good works
the question is what is it ?

No Hindu scripture talks about reincarnation into higher caste/varna/class
(whatever). They only talk about getting out of this endless birth-death
cycle.

Which again means, varnas were only social compartment based on occupation
and no more significanse was attributed.

Namaskaar.

Glad you mentioned that. As a Hindu, I am opposed to the caste system. It is
not a part of Sanatana Dharma but only a bad ancient cultural value that
hopefully will disappear one day. Most Hindus I know do not support the caste
system. A person is reincarnated into a life with certain characteristics based
on his or her karma in this life. If a person followed the dharma well
(generally being a good person with morals, supporting equality, non-violence,
and getting rid of greed and egoism to name a few), then they would have less
suffering in their next life. It works visa-versa of course. Reincarnation does
not determine a caste but determines the outcome of a person's next life.

I don't know what you mean by "saved" but we believe that it is important to
follow the dharma with a few of the qualities that I mentioned above. Rule of
thumb is that if you live a good life as a righteous and moral person, you will
create good karma for your next incarnation. However, to be completely perfect
and attain the state of Moksha, you would need to extinguish all bad karma,
learn life's ultimate lessons, and attain self-realization and God-realization
by merging your atman with Brahman.

The Brahmins have been abusive to Dalits, that is correct. For that, they will
have created bad karma which will cause the individuals involved to be reborn
into a life with more suffering. It isn't all about caste. It is about one's
karma based on how well he or she follows the dharma. The dharma promotes
primarily good works as these are most important to create good karma to
benefit the self and the world. However, various forms of worship are
recommeded but not required in order to help someone progress on the Hindu
spiritual journey.

Hope this answers your questions. CC
